I gasped “What!?” He nodded tauntingly “Yep, the first in command, funny isn’t it, the fact that he was the one who answered my lion roar, and found you.
“What are both of you doing?” I froze looking over to see a black clothed figure leaning on a desk in front of us, not one part of him visible just like before “Oh Alkerrai, sorry, she was wondering what happened, I was going to bring her over as soon as possible.” I looked over at him “Bring me where?” Suddenly he stood up pulling me with him “Ok to the meeting!” Alkerrai hissed “Quit acting like a child…” Rasheem grinned “Yes sir, ok, come on Rem!” He jerked me towards the door and before I knew it I was in the hall and later pulled into a second familiar classroom, with a new group of dark clothed people. I was sat down in a desk, and Rasheem stood over me still smiling. “What’s…going on?” The crowd grew completely silent as Alkerrai walked into the room. Whatever was happening, I was going to find out soon.
As he walked in people quickly seemed to quiet under his presence, they knew something about him I hadn’t seen yet, and Rasheem, acted so casual around him, it was starting to confuse me.
“All of you know why this girl is here…” I could see a few short nods “and all of you understand the consequence for what she saw.” They nodded again. “Yet you don’t know…how it happened.” He gave Rasheem a sharp look “She was tricked.” All of the people in the room moved to look at Rasheem. I listened closely to what he was getting at “Rasheem, weakened the bandage to touch…it was planned for her to see that hand of his.” He turned sharply to Rasheem “I did it for a reason.” Everyone in the room quieted for his explanation. “This girl has no family, and no one knows that she’s moved here, she also has decent skills to fight, she could be of use to us don’t you agree?” A few people in the room grunted others nodding slightly. “Of help? Clearly this decision was formed with hidden meanings Rasheem…reveal to us that truth.” Rasheem paused, muttering under his breath “As sharp as always…” Then he spoke up “This girl’s name is Rem…if you remember Alkerrai…if this is the real Rem…then you know what I have been trying to do.” Alkerrai released a low growl, and for the first time I saw the light reflect off of his shimmering eyes, giving him the appearance of a demon “Hekra…” I froze. Hekra was my dad’s name. “Hey…where did you hear that?” He diditn look at me, and Rasheem spoke up confidently “See? She knows him…I bet this is his long lost daughter…the one that he’s still”
“Quiet Rasheem.”
“So you see, I brought her here to save her…if that man found her out of our protection…she would surely be taken away.”
Alkerrai didn’t speak and Rasheem continued “I suggest we give her protection…a guard that blends in with the other students…one of us.”
Alkerrai “How ignorant…”
Rasheem laughed “And of course you know what I have planned…only one person can compete with Hekra…and there is only one other demon who can protect her from him…how about it…Trialist?” Gasps filled the room, all of them seemingly surprised at his boldness. Suddenly three people stepped out from the crowd at Rasheem but Alkerrai’s voice stopped them “I will do it…none of you interfere.”
“Alkerrai, that name is an insult to you!” One argued.
Alkerrai closed his eyes “No ones past should not be an insult, to regret is to reflect on wishes we desire to regain…my past is nothing but a fleeting image…not even worth insults.” They slowly eased back into the crowd after giving Rasheem a hard glare.
Rasheem smiled “Ah, so Alkerrai, will we finally see what you look like tomorrow?” Alkerrai lifted a bandaged hand to his face as if he were rustling it through his hair irritably “Only the council, and none of you…” He growled and the venom in his voice could be tasted “None of you…will reveal this to anyone.” He glanced over at me “Return tomorrow…you will be safe tonight.”
