When The Author crashes down into John Miller's life, bringing a horde of Gloff with him, nothing will be the same again. With John's help, The Author sets out on the quest to regain his memories...

This is another Doctor Who spin-off, but one I intended to actually film with a friend, though that sadly never happened.

Episodes 2, 4 and 5 are not included here because I did not write them. View table of contents...

34 TIME LORD MEETING ROOM.

INVADER
Every one of us on Home Planet have
been killed.

SUPREME INVADER
How many invaders are left in
existence?

INVADER
5,071.

SUPREME INVADER
Then we will continue the war once
we have rebuilt! This is only the
beginning! What of The Lost?

INVADER
They have stopped, waiting for
orders.

SUPREME INVADER
Then give them this order... Half
of them will converge on Gallifrey
and kill the Time Lords... The
other half will kill The Author!

INVADER
Indeed!

SUPREME INVADER
Also... I have investigated The
Lost's properties. The power they
possess... if united... Could
produce mass invasion!

INVADER
What do you propose?

SUPREME INVADER
I will leave and join the invader
Battlefleet! There I will
integrate myself with the
conciousness!

Supreme invader and other remainaing invaders teleport away.

Then, THE EXPERIMENTER gets to his feet.

THE EXPERIMENTER
(in very visible pain)
As I said, invaders... I'm not
called... The Experimenter... for
nothing...

He goes to the Dead President, and pulls out the Book of
Memories from his pocket.

THE EXPERIMENTER
But... I can't extend... my life...
indefinitely... Only The Author...
can save us... from the mass
death...

He limps out into the corridor.

CUT TO:

CORRIDOR, GALLIFREY.

THE EXPERIMENTER
I must be faster...

He gasps, in pain.

THE EXPERIMENTER
If I can steal a Tardis... make
it... my own...

He falls to his knees.

THE EXPERIMENTER
No! I... Will... Go... ON!!

PAN TO:

35 EXT. YANGAMA.

The Tardis materialises as a WOODEN CRATE.

THE AUTHOR
Why a wooden crate? The chameleon
circuit must have been forcibly
stuck - still, I'll fix it. If we
survive.

GEM
Don't say that, Author.

THE AUTHOR
Come on, you've seen what we're
facing! Nothing can stop The Lost,
they devour and kill everything
they find. That, and the
invaders...

JOHN
And the Time Lords.

THE AUTHOR
I wouldn't worry about them. The
invaders will have killed the
President by now, and the rest will
be cowering for their lives.

They go into the building.

CUT TO:

36 INT. YANGAMA. INFORMATION ROOM.

Computers everywhere.

THE AUTHOR
The equipment is still
online! That's a good sign!

JOHN
Is it?

THE AUTHOR
Well, no, it's a terrible
sign. But it means I'm right, and
that's always a plus.

The Author runs about the computers, checking the screens
with his SONIC DEVICE.

THE AUTHOR
No, there are only hints here.

He runs to the door, then turns back.

THE AUTHOR
How are you feeling, John?

JOHN
I'm not being possessed just now,
sorry. It's only me.

THE AUTHOR
Oh, well... I prefer you as you
anyway. But there's one place I
need to go!

He runs out of the room. Gem and John follow.

CUT TO:

37 SPACE. YANGAMA.

Several million Lost fly through space, approaching
Yangama...

CUT TO:

38 INVADER SPACESHIP.

INVADER
The Lost have nearly found The
Author!

SUPREME INVADER
Excellent! Soon he will be killd!

PAN TO:

39 YANGAMA CHAMBER ROOM.

JOHN, GEM and THE AUTHOR run in.

JOHN
No, not here...

GEM
It has as terrible memories for me
as it does you, John.

The Author ignores them, and runs to one of the cells.

THE AUTHOR
Can you smell that?

JOHN
Yes... It's sort of... a chemically
smell. Like-

JOHN AND THE AUTHOR
Magnesium Oxide!

The author opens one of the cells, and a clump of white
powder pours out.

THE AUTHOR
That confirms it then, I know what
The Lost are. Oh Gem, I'm sorry...

GEM
What?

THE AUTHOR
The Lost... are your people. When
I killed them, their bodies were
already being broken apart and sent
to Gallifrey to be used as
energy. But I stopped it, and a
bunch of particles, and maybe a
couple of atoms, were left floating
through the Time Vortex... Who
knows what could have happened to
them...

GEM
But wait, if they're my people, and
they've killed everyone on Earth...
They're killing their ancestors!

THE AUTHOR
True, but like I half explained
earlier, they don't stay dead.

John looks up.

JOHN
I don't understand.

THE AUTHOR
That chamber in Gallifrey-

FLASHBACK OF CHAMBER.

THE AUTHOR
-is storing anyone that dies on
Earth. That's how you got there,
because you did die, in the
flames. Everyone else on Earth is
dieing too, and being taken there.

GEM
Either way, they're still never
going to colonise Salvation now.

THE AUTHOR
You never know, we might win... But
even if the human race is killed,
or turned into Lost, or whatever
happens to them... The Lost are
creatures of Time now, invincible
creatures... Something as simple as
a paradox can't stop them
now. Right now, they have enough
power to rip apart the fabric of
time itself!

JOHN
You mean they could be even
stronger? They're already
invincible now!

THE AUTHOR
I'm afraid so. But unless they
have a collective intelligence,
they couldn't possible do
anything. We don't need to worry.

GEM
But surely the invaders would try
to control them, Author?

The Author realises.

He is scared. Very scared.

THE AUTHOR
Come on!!

They run out of the room.

CUT TO:

40 EXT. YANGAMA.

They run to the WOODEN CRATE TARDIS.

When... The Lost swarm down from the sky.

THE AUTHOR
They've found us!! RUUN!!!

They run to the Tardis, faster than ever before.

They reach the Tardis.

The Author charges into the Tardis, and then JOHN

But... One of The Lost flies onto GEM!!

THE AUTHOR
(head just looking out of
Tardis)
Gem!! GEEM!!

John falls backwards into the Tardis.

CUT TO:

41 INT. TARDIS.

John is unconcious.

CUT TO:

42 EXT. TARDIS.

The Author stretches out and grabs Gem from the grasp of The
Lost. He pulls her inside, and slams the door shut.

CUT TO:

43 INT. TARDIS.

He lets go of Gem, who falls to the floor near John.

The Author runs around the Tardis, and pulls the lever.

CUT TO:

44 EXT. TARDIS.

It dematerialises.

CUT TO:

45 INVADER SPACESHIP.

INVADER
The Author has escaped alive! He
is heading to Earth!

SUPREME INVADER
We will meet him there. Bring some
Lost to meet him, also.

PAN TO:

46 INT. TARDIS.

The Author catches his breath.

THE AUTHOR
Gem...

He gets down, and looks at her, scanning with the SONIC
DEVICE.

THE AUTHOR
She's breathing... Good. John?

John doesn't move.

THE AUTHOR
John, what's wrong? It didn't
attack you!

Then, John's eyes spring open.

JOHN
Earth. Now.

He snaps out of it.

The Author gets up and then helps him up.

THE AUTHOR
Time to end this. I know what The
Lost are now. And the humans...

Thud.

JOHN
What about Gem?

THE AUTHOR
I don't know, and I'm sorry. But
there are more important things to
do.

He goes out of the Tardis.

John looks back at Gem, then also leaves.

CUT TO:

47 JOHN'S VILLAGE.

Deserted.

JOHN and THE AUTHOR emerge from the wooden crate.

THE AUTHOR
It doesn't look right, does it?

JOHN
No... People is what makes Earth
home.

THE AUTHOR
What? Oh, sorry, I was referring
to the Tardis. I'll end up killing
myself soon, out of frustration of
having the Tardis being some stupid
crate!

JOHN
Author, I don't care about the
Tardis. What I do care about is
the fate of the Universe. Can The
Lost rip apart the fabric of
reality?

THE AUTHOR
With the invaders controlling them,
perhaps.

JOHN
Then how do you intend to stop
them.

THE AUTHOR
I was going to ask you that.

John looks confused.

Vworp Vworp... Woosh...

A TIME CAPSULE appears.

And out of it falls THE EXPERIMENTER.

THE AUTHOR
You! I thought you'd died!

THE EXPERIMENTER
Dieing...Present tense...

He tries to sit up, and fails. He reaches into his pocket
and throws out the BOOK OF MEMORIES.

THE EXPERIMENTER
I... got that... for you. I
even... stole... A Tardis.

THE AUTHOR
I... Thank you.

THE EXPERIMENTER
Not long now... I cannot...
sustain... my life...

He dies.

The Author looks down, in respect.

THE AUTHOR
Definitely dead this time.

JOHN
Karma?

THE AUTHOR
Maybe... but...

He looks at the book.

THE AUTHOR
My... memories... In here?

JOHN
That is the book I found at The
Space Library.

THE AUTHOR
I know... But what will I become
when I open it?

JOHN
Smarter?

THE AUTHOR
Maybe The real Author would side
with the invaders. Can I take that
risk.

JOHN
You have no choice!

Rising Tension...

The Author opens it...

Slowly...

Then rips it open!

And...

Nothing happens.

THE AUTHOR
Oh.

JOHN
Feel any different?

THE AUTHOR
Not at all. It hasn't worked!

Everything gets dark. They look up.

THE invader SPACESHIP is hovering above them.

Cries of 'kill The Author!' call down to them.

Then come THE LOST, flying around them. They land, forming
a circle around them.

JOHN
We can't win, can we Author?

THE AUTHOR
No John... This is truly the end.

JOHN
Stop saying that!

THE SUPREME invader flies down from the sky, and lands in
front of THE AUTHOR.

SUPREME INVADER
Soon Author, time will cease to
exist.

THE AUTHOR
I'd figured that out myself.

SUPREME INVADER
You will be the last to die in The
Time War. Everything else will
merely cease to exist.

THE AUTHOR
I know that! ... Get on with it.

The Supreme invader points its GUN at The Author.

Pause.

SUPREME INVADER
kill them.

JOHN
(but not his voice)
NO.

The Supreme invader turns to look at him.

SUPREME INVADER
Increased levels of Power
located! kill!!

It fires at John, but nothing happens.

THE AUTHOR
You've been possessed again?

JOHN
Correct. By you. By The
Author. By the man you used to be.

SUPREME INVADER
What is the meaning of this?

JOHN
The Author's memories are not fully
in that book. They were split into
a physical and psychic
entities. The physical is the
book, and the psychic went into...
me.

The Author realises.

THE AUTHOR
But it had trouble possessing you,
because of the Asaecians!

JOHN
I appeared to be the perfect host,
but it turned out I was not. Too
many people have been killed.

SUPREME INVADER
kill him!

The Lost stay, motionless.

JOHN
It was a bad idea taking control of
all the Lost. It was a bad idea
uniting their wavelegnths.

SUPREME INVADER
Explain!

JOHN
I've spent time in the Yangama
chamber, some of my atoms and
particles were taken to ultimately
become Lost. A bit of me is in
every Lost. And by dying on Earth
and going to the Gallifrey Chamber,
and becoming a part of the
system... I was able to awaken the
part of me that is in every Lost.

THE AUTHOR
Of course...

JOHN
The Time War isn't ending any time
soon. It will continue until the
end, and the Universe will go on
afterwards.

THE AUTHOR
It's better that way.

JOhn scoffs.

The Author looks at him. He is scared of who he once was.

SUPREME INVADER
But both Physical and Psychic parts
of The Author's memories must be
active for you to continue your
control! I will destroy the book!

It fires at the book. Again, nothing happens.

JOHN
You would have to fire at both me
and at the book both at once to
kill me.

SUPREME INVADER
invaders! Join me!

JOHN
But now I control The Lost... and I
command them destroy you!

He throws his arms into the air, and The Lost fly up into
the sky. Very soon, no invader spaceship is left.

THE AUTHOR
But the invaders will go to
Gallifrey!

JOHN
The Time Lords will do what they
want to them.

SUPREME INVADER
No... NO!! NOOOOO!!! FAILURE IS
NOT AN OPTION FOR A
invader!! VICTORY WAS ALREADY
DECICED! IMPOSSIBLE!!

JOHN
I can't hold on for much longer...
Author... Bring back... my
memories...

John collapses.

SUPREME INVADER
The link is broken!

It fires at the book, which explodes.

The Author falls backwards.

THE AUTHOR
No!!

A LOST falls onto the Supreme invader, and it disappears.

The Lost then stay held up in space, not moving.

Then they burst into flames.

THE AUTHOR
Of course, John - no, him - no,
me... I, will have set them to self
destruct once they destroyed the
invaders. They are too dangerous,
and... I couldn't have saved them.

Then, out of the flames, crystals fall from the sky.

THE AUTHOR
Yes... !

He picks up some that have fallen onto the ground.

THE AUTHOR
White point stars! All of
them! The Lost have been converted
into diamonds! Time effective
diamonds, which would explain
Gralagh and-

He realises John isn't responding.

John wakes up.

JOHN
I... was I possessed again?

THE AUTHOR
Can you remember anything?

JOHN
Sort of...

THE AUTHOR
Come on, let's bring the humans
home.

PAN TO:

48 GALLIFREY CHAMBER.

The Tardis materialises as a WOODEN CRATE.

THE AUTHOR and JOHN step out.

THE AUTHOR
I will fix the chamealeon circuit
soon! But now...

The Author goes to a control panel, and messes with it. He
presses a button.

THE AUTHOR
There we go... Done!

CUT TO:

49 EARTH.

Humans appear everywhere!

CUT TO:

50 GALLIFREY CHAMBER.

JOHN
I can't believe... we're still
alive.

THE AUTHOR
I know! I really thought it was
the end.

JOHN
What about the Time Lords?

THE AUTHOR
Oh, they'll come out of hiding...
elect a new, hopefully better,
president... This is only the
beginning of The Time War. I hope
to stay well out of it.

JOHN
But what about your memories?

The Author looks sad.

THE AUTHOR
The invader destroyed the
book. They're gone.

JOHN
I'm sorry Author.

THE AUTHOR
It may have saved you. Now there
is nothing left possessing your
mind.

JOHN
And what about Gem?

They go into the Tardis.

CUT TO:

51 INT. TARDIS.

THE AUTHOR and JOHN walk in.

GEM is still on the floor.

THE AUTHOR
I don't know what will happen to
her. She might never wake up.

JOHN
What will you do with her?

THE AUTHOR
Keep her in the Tardis until she
wakes up, I suppose. I-

In background, John doubles over and falls.

THE AUTHOR
-could set up an al... John?

He looks over.

THE AUTHOR
John!

He pulls out the SONIC DEVICE and scans John.

JOHN
Author... what... Help me!

THE AUTHOR
No... No! This can't happen!

Ignoring John's cries of pain, The Author presses the return
button and takes the Tardis to Earth.

CUT TO:

52 EARTH. JOHN'S VILLAGE.

THE AUTHOR helps JOHN out of the Tardis. John recovers.

THE AUTHOR
I was right.

JOHN
What?

THE AUTHOR
This is the end.

John looks fearful.

JOHN
What... do you mean?

THE AUTHOR
I've told you before, The Tardis
gives off background
radiation. You are infected by The
Lost, which would normally be
harmless... But coming in contact
with the Tardis's radiation for too
long could kill you.

JOHN
But you can fix it, right?

The Author says nothing.

THE AUTHOR
You very nearly didn't survive. If
you go into the Tardis again, you
will die.

JOHN
No... No! You mean... I have to
stop travelling with you?

The Author again says nothing.

JOHN
But... No! I can't go back to a
normal life now! I can't!

THE AUTHOR
You think it will be easy for
me? You and Gem are my only
friends!

JOHN
Please Author, can't you do
something?

THE AUTHOR
I could take you to a future
advanced hospital which would cure
you. Except you'd have to go in
the Tardis. I could take you to
the Tardis's Zero room and
decontaminate you. But you'd have
to go through the Tardis. There is
nothing I can do.

Gem screams, and runs out of the Tardis.

GEM
Where am I?

She looks at John.

GEM
I... recognise you... No... I...

She collapses.

The Author covers his face with his hands.

THE AUTHOR
She survived being attacked by that
Lost... but her mind won't be the
same. Her neural circuits have
been broken. She won't remember a
lot of stuff.

JOHN
Can you help her?

THE AUTHOR
You know how powerful The Lost
were.

And that answers his question.

JOHN
Will you be okay?

The Author doesn't answer. He turns to The Tardis.

JOHN
Don't go... please...

The Author opens the door...

JOHN
No, Author, no!

He goes into the Tardis and closes the door.

John runs up to the door and throws himself against it, but
obviously nothing happens.

JOHN
Author...

The Tardis dematerialises.

John looks back at Gem, who is still unconcious.

Then he looks to the sky.

JOHN
Why did he have to leave like
that? He never even said
goodbye...

CUT TO:

53 INT. TARDIS.

The Author falls into the chair, sad.

THE AUTHOR
John, Gem... I'll...

Pause.

THE AUTHOR
I should have said goodbye...

Pause.

The Author sighs, having made up his mind.

He runs to the door, and pulls them open.

THE AUTHOR
John, Gem, I...

He looks out. The Tardis is falling through the time
vortex.

THE AUTHOR
What?

The Tardis is knocked, and the Author falls back in as the
doors close. He gets to his feet-

An explosion comes from the console.

The Author runs to it, trying to regain control throughout
the chaos...

THE AUTHOR
No!

It's out of control-

CUT TO:

54 END CREDITS.
