When The Author crashes down into John Miller's life, bringing a horde of Gloff with him, nothing will be the same again. With John's help, The Author sets out on the quest to regain his memories...

This is another Doctor Who spin-off, but one I intended to actually film with a friend, though that sadly never happened.

Episodes 2, 4 and 5 are not included here because I did not write them. View table of contents...

1 RECAP OF EPISODE 8.

CUT TO:

2 OPENING CREDITS.

CUT TO:

3 SIMPSON OBSERVATORY.

Caption reads "Earth. 2010."

JOHN enters. MARK is already there.

JOHN
How come you're always here before
me, Mark?

MARK
Well, it is called the Simpson
observatory, not the Miller
one. It would be wrong for you to
be here first.

John goes into the kitchen, as Mark types.

John returns with a cup of tea, and sits at his desk.

JOHN
Any news?

MARK
Alpha Centauri is a bit dimmer than
usual... but it could be the solar
flares.

JOHN
I meant about your Dad.

MARK
No, no news... But I get the
feeling they're not telling him how
bad it is, and how much it's
spreading. I know the radiotherapy
didn't work...

JOHN
I'm sorry. Anyway, can I see the
results for Alpha Centauri?

Mark shows him on the computer.

JOHN
It would be amazing if we could
travel to all these beautiful
places...

MARK
Yeah... But it won't happen in our
lifetimes. Our job is to map the
stars for the generations that will
get to explore.

JOHN
But if we're never going to get
into space, what we're doing would
be a waste of time.

Mark is slightly shocked by the thought.

MARK
A waste of time? Are you saying
you don't enjoy it!?

JOHN
No, I do... It just... reminds me
of how much more there is.

Pause.

JOHN
I'm going for a walk.

John exits the observatory.

CUT TO:

4 INT. OBSERVATORY.

JOHN walks inside.

JOHN
That was a nice walk. My head's a
bit clearer now.

MARK
Huh? Oh, hello.

John sits down.

JOHN
Did you put my cup of tea away?

MARK
What? No, why? Did you leave it
out?

JOHN
Yeah... and now it's not here.

John shrugs.

JOHN
I'll go make myself another one.

MARK
It would be cold by now anyway!

John goes into the kitchen.

He then returns with a cup of tea, and types at a computer.

MARK
Alpha Centauri is pretty dim
today. I think it's the solar
flares.

JOHN
You already told me that.

MARK
I... no I didn't. I've only just
make that observation now.

JOHN
Strange.

John looks at the clock on his computer.

JOHN
Wait a minute, this clock says 12
past 9, but that's what it was when
I left for my walk.

MARK
What walk?

John gets up, realising something is wrong.

JOHN
Something is wrong!

John runs out of the observatory.

MARK
John!

CUT TO:

5 INT. OBSERVATORY.

JOHN runs in.

JOHN
What's the time now?

MARK
John, are you-

JOHN
The time, Mark!

MARK
It's 8 past 9! Why?

John is in shock.

JOHN
Is Alpha Centauri dim because of
the solar flares today, Mark?

MARK
They... yes! How could you know
that?

JOHN
I have to get out of here!

John darts out of the observatory.

CUT TO:

6 EXT. OBSERVATORY.

JOHN runs down the hill. He runs, and runs some more, until
he is nearly at the forest.

Then...

FLASH.

CUT TO:

7 INT. OBSERVATORY.

JOHN runs in.

JOHN
No!!

MARK
John, are you-

JOHN
NO I'M NOT OKAY!!

He runs into the kitchen and returns with an empty cup. He
smashed it on the floor.

MARK
John!

JOHN
BE QUIET!

Mark is quiet.

John sits on the ground cross legged, and closes his eyes.

FLASH.

CUT TO:

8 INT. OBSERVATORY.

JOHN enters.

He looks down to where he smashed the cup.

JOHN
NO! I'm stuck in some sort of time
loop... NO!! NO!!! HELP!!

He falls to the floor in despair.

Mark stares at him, scared.

JOHN
I'm going mad...

FADE TO:

9 ALIEN CONTROL ROOM.

Caption reads "Yangama. 4025 AD"

THE AUTHOR is tied up, on the floor.

THE EXPERIMENTER
Don't struggle my dear Author, or
you'll have to be paralysed again.

THE AUTHOR
I wouldn't dream of it... Who are
you?

The Experimenter looks at The Author, curious.

THE EXPERIMENTER
That mind erase did more than we
ever expected.

THE AUTHOR
You know who I am?

THE EXPERIMENTER
Yes.

THE AUTHOR
Do you know how I can get my
memories back?

THE EXPERIMENTER
Yes.

THE AUTHOR
...Could you tell me?

THE EXPERIMENTER
No!

He turns to EDITH, who has been standing quietly.

THE EXPERIMENTER
Human! How is production?

EDITH
As you calculated, it is taking
some time to increase the
efficiency-

THE EXPERIMENTER
STOP BABBLING! ARE WE ON SCHEDULE?

EDITH
We... Yes!

THE EXPERIMENTER
Good...

THE AUTHOR
Please... If you won't tell me who
I am, let me know at least this...
What have you done to John?

THE EXPERIMENTER
John? What is a John, Author?

THE AUTHOR
My friend! He was taken into that
chamber!

The Experimenter realises, and laughs.

THE EXPERIMENTER
I'll let you see him, later. If
there's anything left to see, that
is!

He laughs some more.

MARZAK runs in. He sees the Experimenter and bows.

THE EXPERIMENTER
Stand upright, pathetic primate,
and tell me the reason you are
here.

MARZAK
Sorry, milord. Do you still wish
for us to capture some more
specimens, as we have-

The Experimenter is again pleased.

THE EXPERIMENTER
-Specimens? You refer to them as
specimens? But surely, these are
your own people?

MARZAK
They ran away. They are traitors.

THE EXPERIMENTER
But human nonetheless.

He leans in closer, loving every moment.

THE EXPERIMENTER
How do you live with yourself? How
do you get to sleep at night,
knowing the pain you're putting
thousands of people in?

MARZAK
It's worth it. Sir.

The Experimenter moves back.

THE EXPERIMENTER
Selfish to the last, eh? If I
hadn't promised you a reward I'd
kill you here and now.

The Author watches, hating the Experimenter more and more.

THE EXPERIMENTER
Answering your question, yes. Get
them, there is still time.

MARZAK
Thank you, sir.

Marzak turns to Edith.

MARZAK
I'll need all the soldiers we can
get. I've found their base.

PAN TO:

10 EXT. MAIN CONTROL ROOM. CORRIDOR.

MAY and GEM are by the door, listening.

GEM
The Author is a good guy, after
all! We have to save him!

MAY
I agree.

May closes her eyes, and reaches out with her hands...

CUT TO:

11 ALIEN CONTROL ROOM.

THE EXPERIMENTER
Oh, and Marzak... One more thing.

MARZAK
Yes, milord?

THE EXPERIMENTER
Stop calling me that or I'll kill
you.

MARZAK
Sorry mi - sir.

THE EXPERIMENTER
Marzak, it may interest you to know
we're being spied on.

CUT TO:

12 EXT. ALIEN CONTROL ROOM.

GEM gasps. MAY is undisturbed, and continues.

GEM realises a hole is appearing around them.

GEM
Hurry!

CUT TO:

13 ALIEN CONTROL ROOM.

A HOLE is appearing around THE AUTHOR.

THE EXPERIMENTER
No!! Stop them!

EDITH
All the equipment is jammed, sir!

THE AUTHOR disappears, and the hole closes up.

CUT TO:

14 EXT. ALIEN CONTROL ROOM.

GEM and MAY disappear through the HOLE, which then
disappears.

CUT TO:

15 ALIEN CONTROL ROOM.

THE EXPERIMENTER
YOU BRAIN-DEAD SIMPLETON!! YOU LET
THEM ESCAPE!!

EDITH
No!! Please, I couldn't-

THE EXPERIMENTER
YOU WILL BE PUNISHED FOR THIS!!

He pulls out a disintigrater, and fires at her. Edith
screams, and is disintegrated to death.

THE EXPERIMENTER
I am in complete control now!

CUT TO:

16 EXT. ALIEN BUILDING.

THE AUTHOR, GEM and MAY appear.

THE AUTHOR
Untie me!

They untie his ropes. The Author gets up.

THE AUTHOR
Thank you. I'm glad you're not
shooting at me this time.

GEM
I'm sorry, I thought you were with
them.

THE AUTHOR
Well, no harm done, now I know
what's going on. I don't know what
they're doing to those humans but
they have to be stopped.

MAY
They will attack the base.

The Author looks at her. He gets out his SONIC DEVICE, and
scans her.

THE AUTHOR
You have very strong psychic waves
being emitted... was it you that
opened the hole?

MAY
Yes. Irrelevant. Apart from John,
all the humans kidnapped in the
last day are being kept in
storage. There are 100 of
them. But not much time.

GEM
If they're attacking, we'll need
all the help we can get!

THE AUTHOR
Yes! My Sonic Device should open
the cells. Can you teleport them
home?

MAY
Yes, but it'll take a lot of
effort. We'll need to get them
outside for optimum success
chances.

THE AUTHOR
Good, come on!

They race into the building.

CUT TO:

17 ALIEN CONTROL ROOM.

THE EXPERIMENTER
They will probably have gone to the
human base! Attack, but bring me
The Author alive! Capture as many
humans as possible, but let nothing
get in the way of capturing the
Author! Do you understand?

MARZAK
Yes!

THE EXPERIMENTER
You know what happens to those who
fail!

He points at the ashes on the ground which are placed where
Edith was previously standing.

MARZAK
I won't fail you, sir!

CUT TO:

18 CORRIDOR.

THE AUTHOR, GEM and MAY race down it.

MAY
They're in here!

They have reached a door.

The Author SONICS it, and goes inside. It is full of 100
people.

THE AUTHOR
Come on! We're going to save you!

GEM
Yes! Follow us!

MAN
Who are you?

THE AUTHOR
Your salvation. In more ways than
one. Come on!

CUT TO:

19 ALIEN CONTROL ROOM.

THE EXPERIMENTER
MARZAK!! GET IN HERE NOW!!

Marzak runs in.

MARZAK
A change of plan?

THE EXPERIMENTER
The Author is still in the
building! He is freeing 100
humans! KILL THEM!! But get me
the Author alive!

MARZAK
Yes sir.

Marzak runs out.

CUT TO:

20 CORRIDOR.

THE AUTHOR, GEM and MAY run, followed by the humans. There
is a lot of noise.

GEM
They'll hear!

THE AUTHOR
It doesn't matter! We're nearly at
the exit, can you teleport them
away, May?

MAY
Yes, soon!

They reach the door, and run out of it. But...

CUT TO:

21 EXT. BUILDING.

Marzak, and 10 other men holding disintegraters are standing
there, waiting for them.

MARZAK
Fire!

MAN
What if it hits the Time Lord?

MARZAK
It's programmed not to. FIRE!!

They fire.

THE AUTHOR
No!!

Gem and May duck, and run. The other aren't so lucky.

Disintegration. Everywhere. They are all
running. Screaming. Dieing.

THE AUTHOR
TELEPORT!!

A HOLE appears.

CUT TO:

22 SALVATION. WASTELAND.

THE AUTHOR, MAY and GEM appear.

The Author falls to his knees. Gem is horrified. May is
unaffected.

GEM
Dead. They were all killed.

THE AUTHOR
If we hadn't tried to rescue them,
they would all be alive.

MAY
I did not see this. But it makes
no difference.

The Author is angry now.

THE AUTHOR
Makes no difference? Who are you
to decide whether someone being
alive or dead makes a
difference? What makes you so
special?

MAY
I am-

THE AUTHOR
You told me where they were. You
wanted this to happen!

MAY
I can see the timelines. We both
want the same thing, but the
difference is I know how to get it.

THE AUTHOR
Timelines...

He realises.

THE AUTHOR
Of course! All these wormholes,
ripping apart space, gathering
humans from so many different
plants, requires energy! But did
you see any massive reactors? Even
my Tardis is powered by the Eye of
Harmony, a massive reactor in the
center of it. They're feeding from
these worlds!

GEM
What do you mean?

THE AUTHOR
Look around you. Even if it's had
50 years, this amount of decaying
isn't normal. And look around
you... Everything is so
plain. EVEN WHEN I SHOUT!!! ...
It's not as loud as it should be!

GEM
Yes, I see! But it hasn't always
been like that!

THE AUTHOR
Oh, it has, you just haven't
realised. It was on too small a
scale. But now they're going into
production by 100,000,000%, and
it'll get worse, until this world
is plunged into a dark, soundless
world!

Gem gasps.

MAY
He speaks the truth.

GEM
We have to stop them!

THE AUTHOR
But how? The Experimenter is a
Time Lord, like me, which makes him
tougher than anything I have ever
faced before.

MAY
We must move. They are coming.

THE AUTHOR
She's right. Come on!

They run.

PAN TO:

23 HUMAN BASE.

GRAWMAN is sitting, on his own.

GRAWMAN
What is happening? Everything is
getting darker...

ZAP!!

Flames!

SOLDIER
We're under attack!

Gunfire begins.

Grawman gets up, and finds a gun.

A soldier runs in, with a disintegrater. Grawman fires, and
he dies.

GRAWMAN
How many are there?

A SOLDIER
Not many, only 10 or 20. But they
have-

The soldier is disintegrated. MARZAK walks in.

Grawman fires upon him, but it does no good.

MARZAK
Shields are very useful, don't you
think?

He uses a PARALYSER. Grawman falls to the ground.

MARZAK
Tell me! Where is the Author?

GRAWMAN
Wh...Who?

MARZAK
THE TIME LORD!!

GRAWMAN
Please... I don't... Please...

Marzak DISINTEGRATES Grawman. Grawman screams.

MARZAK
The Author is not here. SEARCH FOR
HIM!

PAN TO:

24 WASTELAND.

THE AUTHOR and GEM are running.

THE AUTHOR
Wait!

They stop.

THE AUTHOR
Where has May gone?

They look around, but it is getting darker.

GEM
May? MAY!

THE AUTHOR
Shush... Look over there...

Over the horizon is flames.

GEM
The base!

THE AUTHOR
They've probably all been killed.

GEM
No... NO!

THE AUTHOR
I'm sorry, Gem.

GEM
What happened to May, Author? Has
she been killed?

THE AUTHOR
She has become a psychic being. It
is unlikely.

GEM
A what?

THE AUTHOR
It's difficult to explain. I
think... All these holes, and all
that energy... It's leaking out
Psychic energy! May must just
naturally be more perceptive, and
she's picking it all up!

GEM
Is it harmful?

THE AUTHOR
It depends on many variables. I
cannot say. But one thing's for
sure, if we can't stop The
Experimenter, it won't matter
whether the psychic energy is
dangerous or not.

GEM
Where do we go now?

THE AUTHOR
Back. The only problem is, we
can't create our own holes.

GEM
Marzak can.

THE AUTHOR
Exactly. They're looking for me,
so they'll take me alive. But you
need to stay here.

GEM
No chance. I'll go with you and
hide when we find them.

The Author sighs.

THE AUTHOR
Alright then.

FADE TO:

25 INT. OBSERVATORY.

Caption reads "Earth, 2010. 1,000 repetitions later."

JOHN walks in.

JOHN
NO, stop, stop, stop!!!

MARK
John, are you okay?

JOHN
OF CORUSE I AM NOT OKAY!!!

John is becoming hysterical.

JOHN
HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF YOU HAD TO GO
THROUGH THE SAME MINUTES OVER AND
OVER AND OVER AND OVER-

MARK
I'm calling an ambulance!

JOHN
NO!!

John picks up a hatstand, swings it and hits Mark on the
head, who falls unconcious. John falls to the ground.

JOHN
IS HE DEAD? IT DOESN'T MATTER
ANYWAY, HE'LL COME ALIVE AGAIN!!!

John laughs hysterically.

JOHN
MAYBE I SHOULD KILL MYSELF? WHAT
HAPPENS THEN!!??

John crawls into the kitchen.

He returns with a KNIFE.

John is breathing rapidly, completely insane.

MAY
Don't.

John drops the knife, and stares up at her, hopeful.

JOHN
Something... new...

MAY
Do not despair. Help is at hand.

JOHN
What?

MAY
I will stay with you and keep you
company. Your mind is on the brink
of collapse, if left on your own
for any longer it will burn up, and
you will die.

JOHN
I, I don't...

MAY
I give you your memories.

John gasps. Images of THE AUTHOR, THE WASTELAND, and MARZAK
flood into his head.

JOHN
I remember you...

MAY
Good.

FLASH.

John walks into the observatory.

JOHN
What? Again? No!!

MARK
John, are you okay?

MAY arrives at the door.

MAY
Hello.

JOHN
You!

MARK
Who is she?

MAY
I said I'd keep you company. You
will have no more than 100 dreams
until it is over. Please endure
it.

JOHN
I... okay. Thank you.

FADE TO:

26 ALIEN CONTROL ROOM.

Caption reads "Yangama. 4025 AD"

The Experimenter is pacing.

Beep beep. Beep beep.

A phone is ringing.

THE EXPERIMENTER
How primitive.

He moves and picks it up.

THE EXPERIMENTER
Hello, Lord
President. Yes. Yes. The
Author. Yes. One Day. Any news
of the Invaders? No? Well, it's
only a matter of time. Goodbye
Lord PResident.

He puts down the phone.

THE EXPERIMENTER
It won't be long now. The Author
will return for his friend, and for
his Tardis.

PAN TO:

27 SALVATION WASTELAND. VERY DARK NOW.

GEM and THE AUTHOR are walking along.

They hear voices.

GEM
Here they are.

THE AUTHOR
Right, good. I'll return for you.

GEM
But it's getting darker!

THE AUTHOR
You'll be safe for another
hour. The Tardis will find you.

GEM
Okay. Good luck Author.

THE AUTHOR
Thank you. I'll need it.

The Author moves to where the voices are.

THE AUTHOR
Hello! Are you looking for me?

A PARALYS BEAM IS FIRED.

MARZAK
Take him to The Experimenter!

THE AUTHOR
Good; I was wanting to speak to
him!

A HOLE appears, and they disappear. The hole then
disappears.

GEM runs forward. One of them has left a paralyser. She
picks it up.

GEM
This could be useful.

Then... There is light! Gem shields her eyes. In the light
stands MAY.

GEM
May!!

MAY
Hello, my sister. I cannot stay
long, I am helping the human keep
his sanity. He is aware that he is
dreaming, and it is driving him
insane. You must help The Author.

GEM
How?

MAY
I will open a wormhole for
you. You have the paralyser. Good
luck.

A HOLE opens up. May disappears, as does the light.

Gem sighs, and walks through the Hole.

The wasteland loses all light, once the hole is gone.

PAN TO:

28 CORRIDOR.

THE AUTHOR is being dragged by MARZAK and his 2 MEN.

THE AUTHOR
The paralys has worn off, you
know. I can walk.

They ignore him.

ZAP ZAP ZAP.

Marzak, along with his men, fall to the ground, paralysed.

THE AUTHOR
What!?

Gem runs forward.

THE AUTHOR
Gem?

GEM
May returned, and opened a window
for me. She said she was with the
human, helping him.

THE AUTHOR
...Right. We need to be careful,
they'll know you've saved me.

GEM
Where do we go?

THE AUTHOR
To the chamber they took John!

They run down the corridor.

CUT TO:

29 CONTROL ROOM.

THE EXPERIMENTER
THE FOOL!! I will do this
myself...

He runs out of the room.

CUT TO:

30 GIANT CHAMBER.

THE AUTHOR and GEM run in.

GEM
Woah... this is huge.

THE AUTHOR
John's one is... here!

He opens the door. John is standing inside, eyes closed, as
if asleep.

THE AUTHOR
I need to be careful...

He begins pressing buttons on a control panel.

Then, John gasps, and is awake.

JOHN
Ah... I...

THE AUTHOR
John, you're safe.

JOHN
Author! I... oh... my head...

John falls out, onto the floor.

THE AUTHOR
It's okay John...

MAY
His mind has been saved.

The Author looks up. May has appeared.

THE AUTHOR
Thank you.

The Author helps John to his feet.

THE AUTHOR
Right, we're all united!

He looks around the chamber.

THE AUTHOR
What happened to you, John?

JOHN
I lived a part of my life at
Earth... over and over again.
Nothing I did changed anything, it
just reverted back.

MAY
As is happening to everyone in this
chamber. But due to John's alien
influences-

THE AUTHOR
Of course... John has had a
lot. Dolin Dust... The Asaecian
posession...

MAY
Exactly. These influences allowed
him to remember.

THE AUTHOR
But why?

THE EXPERIMENTER
Believe it or not, we were being
mercyful.

The Experimenter is at the door, holding a disintegrater.

THE EXPERIMENTER
We need them alive. The trauma of
what is being done to them would
kill them, so we allow them to
dream... The same dream over and
over, to save energy. But they
usually don't remember. It keeps
them sane, and keeps them alive.

THE AUTHOR
What are you doing to them?

THE EXPERIMENTER
You won't be aware of it Author,
but a war is about to begin. The
biggest and most horrific war since
the dawn of time. We have to win,
for the sake of truth, and justice-

THE AUTHOR
Justice. JUSTICE? You call this
justice?

THE EXPERIMENTER
You haven't met our enemies. Or
rather, you have but can't
remember. They are far worse than
us.

THE AUTHOR
What are they?

THE EXPERIMENTER
A race born to conquer all other
life. We're the only ones powerful
enough to fight them. But even
then we aren't powerful enough.

THE AUTHOR
So you set up this base. Why? How
can capturing humans and storing
them in here help with the War
Effort?

THE EXPERIMENTER
(chuckling)
Oh, you'll hate me for this
Author! We're breaking their
bodies down to a cellular level,
and extracting ever ounce of power
and energy we possibly can from
them. It's surprising how vitally
important for the war effort they
are.

All four of them become shocked.

John looks at his hand. He has a cut.

JOHN
They'd already begun on me!

THE AUTHOR
That's murder.

THE EXPERIMENTER
That's war. Now, I am going to
capture you, kill your friends, for
it's too late to add them to the
chamber, then take you plus all the
energy created back to Gallifrey.

THE AUTHOR
Gallifrey...

THE EXPERIMENTER
Recognise it? You should. Now,
any objections? Well of course
there will be!

He fires the paralyser at the Author, who falls down.

The Experimenter gets out a disintegrater.

Then, MARZAK arrives at the door.

MARZAK
There you are!

Marzak notices The Experimenter. He moves backwards, in
fear.

THE EXPERIMENTER
You have failed me, and I have no
further need for you.

He disintegrates Marzak.

SHOTS OF EVERYONE ELSE... APPALLED.

THE EXPERIMENTER
Now then, who first? Any
volunteers?

Pause.

THE EXPERIMENTER
No one? My, I'm dis-

MAY
Me. if you don't mind.

May steps forward.

The Experimenter is confused

MAY
What you are doing is cruel and
immoral. Even the universe itself
disagrees. I can pick up psychic
waves given off by the wormholes, I
know these things.

THE EXPERIMENTER
What do I care what a group of
humans thinks of me?

MAY
A group of humans are, as you put
it, 'vitally important for the war
effort'.

THE EXPERIMENTER
Cease!

He fires at her, and the ray hits her in the stomach. She
doubles over, but doesn't disintegrate.

THE EXPERIMENTER
What!?

GEM
May!

Gem catches May, as she falls.

MAY
Each... of these humans... have
been dreaming. Dreams... are very
powerful. I... managed to get
into... the dream of John
Miller. I could... then
influence... all the dreams...

THE EXPERIMENTER
...So?

MAY
Every human has... a tiny psychic
ability.

She manages to stand on her own now.

MAY
Mine is slightly larger than usual.

THE EXPERIMENTER
I know that, idiot! A Time Lord
even more so! How did you survive
the disintegrater?

MAY
I didn't.

THE EXPERIMENTER
But...

MAY
My point is, alone humans have a
very small psychic ability. But
when you have thousands of humans
linked together, with their brains
working 10 times harder to produce
dreams than normal... that psychic
ability will add up.

The Experimenter realises.

THE EXPERIMENTER
No... no, it can't be!

He fires the disintegater at her more. It has the same
effect. She doubles over, and falls to the floor.

MAY
Too late!

The Author looks at her, impressed.

MAY
While in John Miller's dream, I
activated their psychic ability!

THE EXPERIMENTER
...To do what?

MAY
I regret to say that they cannot be
saved. They will all have to die.

THE AUTHOR AND THE EXPERIMENTER
No!

The Author's pride for her goes. He glares at her.

MAY
Neither of you can stop me. This
would always have happened!

She claps her hands together.

Suddenly, screaming, flashing, and burning coming from the
cells.

THE AUTHOR
Noo!!!

The Experimenter fires at her more with the disintegrater,
but it has the same effect. She falls to the ground, but is
alive.

May looks up. She clicks her fingers, and the disintegrater
is disintegrated!

THE EXPERIMENTER
Impossible!

The screaming stops, along with the burning and flashing.

MAY
They have all been killed. And the
circuits have been blown, switches
fused... This building is now a
heap of junk.

THE EXPERIMENTER
No... No!!

MAY
And you're defenceless. If I were
you I'd start running.

The Experimenter looks at her, then to the Author, then back
to her.

And then he runs.

THE AUTHOR
After him!!

The Author and John chase him, but Gem stays with May, who
is growing weaker.

CUT TO:

31 CORRIDOR.

Chase scene. THE EXPERIMENTER runs, getting away from JOHN
and THE AUTHOR.

CUT TO:

32 TELEPORTATION ROOM.

THE EXPERIMENTER is already at the controls.

They are too late.

THE AUTHOR and JOHN run in the room.

THE EXPERIMENTER
Too late!

The Author buzzes with his sonic, but it does no good.

THE EXPERIMENTER
This isn't over! This will be
added to your list of
crimes! Justice will prevail
Author. You will return to
Gallifrey to pay for your crimes!

THE AUTHOR
I intend to, if only to figure out
who I am.

THE EXPERIMENTER
And I will be waiting. Goodbye...
Author...

He fades away completely.

THE AUTHOR
Well, it's good to know people fear
me enough to want revenge. Even
though I never really did anything.

JOHN
How did May survive all those
disintegrations?

THE AUTHOR
That, John... is a very good
point! Come on!

They rush back down the corridor.

CUT TO:

33 MASSIVE CHAMBER.

MAY is lying on the ground, in pain.

THE AUTHOR and JOHN rush in.

GEM
Author, can't you help her? She's
dying!

THE AUTHOR
Ah, I get it... Using psychic
waves, she prolonged the
disintegration. But she can't
prolong it forever.

MAY
Author... I'm... sorry... It was...
the only way...

THE AUTHOR
Yes... I know.

May gasps, then disintegrates.

GEM
Noo!! May, no! My only sister...
NOO!!

She cries into the ash. John and the Author stand there,
awkwardly.

GEM
What now? I'm stuck here. What's
happened to Salvation?

THE AUTHOR
All the energy has been drained
from it. It's a floating cinder in
space now. I'm sorry.

GEM
Where will I go?

THE AUTHOR
If... you have nowhere else to
go... you could always... come with
us?

GEM
...Where?

JOHN
Anywhere! Everywhere! The
Author's Tardis can dematerialise
anywhere in space!

THE AUTHOR
And Time, John. Don't forget time,
or it would be an Ardis.

JOHN
Yeah, and time.

GEM
It can travel in time?

THE AUTHOR
Yes.

GEM
I don't believe you.

THE AUTHOR
Then come with us, and find
out. you have nowhere else to go!

GEM
I did always wonder why The
Experimenter was called a
Time-Lord...

JOHN
But Author, was the Tardis on
Salvation when the energy was
drained?

THE AUTHOR
No, no... The Experimenter took it.

JOHN
Then how can we find it?

THE AUTHOR
Easy! I suppose you were all too
busy to notice, but... One of these
cells didn't light up when May
killed everyone. This one here!

The Author walks up to it. He opens the door and looks
inside.

THE AUTHOR
Yup.

He walks inside.

John follows.

Leaving Gem on her own.

GEM
What!?

Gem, confused, goes inside too.

CUT TO:

34 INT. TARDIS.

THE AUTHOR
It became one of the
cells! Excellent! The perfect
hiding place!

Gem wanders in.

GEM
What... it... but... how?

JOHN
Bigger on the inside, yeah. you
get used to it.

THE AUTHOR
So Gem, where do you want to
go? Classical Earth? A future
alien planet? It's up to you!

GEM
I...

THE AUTHOR
Or I can randomise the coordinates,
and end up... anywhere!

GEM
Um. Go with that then!

The Author pulls a lever, and the Tardis shakes about,
flying on to it's next adventure...

CUT TO:

35 END CREDITS.
