Prologue
The dark matter of the night was abruptly trespassed by two strong beams of light, just as its silence was denied by the soft roar of a pickup truck's engine. As soon as the old truck stopped, a tall and slim man jumped out of it and hurried to get something from the truck's bed. It was a small shovel. He then rushed over to a small mound of dirt lit by the truck's headlights. He struck the mound with the shovel, digging. He seemed desperate. He was digging as fast as he could. As if his life depended on digging that hole in the ground in the middle of the night. No direction, no planning. Only digging that damn hole was important.
But suddenly, the shovel instead of hitting earth, hit something metallic. The man stood still for a couple of seconds, stunned. Then he reached for a small flashlight in his left pocket and aimed its beam at the bottom of the hole. He noticed something shiny under the hole. Excited, he started excavating with his own hands, revealing more and more of the metallic object. It was in perfect condition, not even a scratch tainting its immaculate surface. He stared at it for a moment, wondering what that could be. His imagination was running wild. The man was so absorbed by it, that he completely forgot what brought him there in the first place. Not resisting the temptation anymore, he touched the metallic surface with his right hand, feeling the cold and polished surface with the tip of his fingers. He also felt a strange sensation as he ran his fingers by it, like a very weak electric current flowing up his body. Startled, he took his hand off the metal and stood on his feet. Who would bury something like that in the middle of nowhere?
He started to think that maybe that thing was dangerous and decided to bury it again. But as he was reaching for the shovel he suddenly felt very weak and his vision started to blur. He had no choice but to fall to the ground. In a matter of seconds he completely lost control of all his bodily functions, as if something else was taking over it. A very deep and primitive fear took over his mind, along with something else he didn't recognize. Then he started to feel very sleepy, like his mind was going to shut down. He tried to fight it, but was too late.
Before blacking out, the last thing he heard in his mind was someone saying "Sleep well, my friend..."
