We Are Always Searching Part II
Half way round the world
they found her, in far off Tennessee.
Computers finding true love,
they know everything about me
They input every aspect
of my personality,
and find a mate
in the name of our morality.
To save us the 'bother'
of always searching,
scientists with their
'genius' researching.
'To put an end to fornication,
and unify the worldwide nation,
to seek a human's perfect soul mate,
and engineer a happy fate.'
A genocide of broken hearts,
what a wonderful decree.
The death of
spontaneity.
I see my perfect Tennessee girl,
I see that perfect fit,
'a 0% margin of error' found me
a beautiful girl
with charm and with grace
We need each other
like white needs black,
like man needs woman,
like love needs hate.
Yet I look over my shoulder
at my life long best friend,
her 'soul mate' died
in infancy, 'we're sorry
but you'll never
love,' they said.
Well guess what, white coats,
we were born eighteen years ago.
And there's eighteen years of
love she'll never have
in her heart, gift wrapped from me.
So nice to meet you,
Tennessee girl, who I need
like white needs black,
like man needs woman,
like love needs hate.
Yes you've got a perfect face,
a personality just like mine.
But I'll never love you,
I don't want you,
I don't need you,
I want my ugly, by chance,
implausible, impossible,
real
love instead.
