SCENE FOUR
EXT. PLAYGROUND-DAWN

Savannah sits up yawning. She wipes dew away from her face while sitting there.Kade is leaning against one of the posts of the playground watching her while he smokes a cigarette.Panicking, Savannah stumbles to her feet almost falling off the play set but Kade manages to grab her hand before she falls off.

Gripping her wrist, he pulls her up in front of himself.Savannah no longer struggles.Instead, she just stands there squinting a little and tensing her muscles.

KADE

What's your name?

SAVANNAH
Storm.
KADE
Storm?Ok.Storm, what are you doing here?
SAVANNAH
Sleeping. What the hell did it look like?
KADE

I don't watch people in their sleep.

SAVANNAH

Oh well.You should. It's a lot of fun.You

can tell if they're dreaming or not by the

expressions on their face. The way their lips

move and sometimes curl back while muscles

tighten and loosen.A simple orgasmic smile

can tell so much about a person. The way they

toss and turn and how eventually…

She trails away when Kade starts to back away.
SAVANNAH

Don't worry, I haven't watched you in your

sleep yet.

KADE

Well I came here to ask you for some help.

Somebody said they recognized you.So please

tell me…how fast do you drive?

SAVANNAH
Fast.
KADE
Descriptive.
SAVANNAH

I'm special.My psychologist says so.

KADE

I don't believe that.

SAVANNAH
Why?
KADE

You slept on a playground obviously you don't

have the money to afford a psychologist.

SAVANNAH

Who's to say I'm not the psychologist?

KADE

You steal cars.I steal cars.My friends…

they steal cars. It's our way of life to have

money to afford things and I'm sure a person

like you could use some money.

SAVANNAH

You're strange.

KADE

Well you could say that I'm trying to speak

your language.

SAVANNAH

Do you have free food?

KADE
No.
SAVANNAH

Well then it looks as if we have a communication

problem. If you ever find a decent translator give

me a heads up and maybe we can have a nice

discussion.Otherwise, fare-the-well.

Savannah waves to him before rolling her eyes as she walks away leaping off the play equipment.Kade stands there watching her for a bit before chasing after her as she heads back toward the city away from the park.He grabs onto her almost slipping on the plastic grass. It's dangerous when it is wet.Savannah helps him stand up straight and stares into his eyes while he grips her arms even though his balance is perfect.Gradually, a grin spreads across Savannah's face and she pulls her arms away from him.

SAVANNAH

What's your name?

KADE

People call me Kade.

SAVANNAH

What's your real name?

KADE

What's yours?

SAVANNAH
Savannah Storm.
KADE

That's a very nice name but I'm still not going to

tell you my real name.

SAVANNAH

You're not as tough as you want to appear Kade.

KADE

And what makes you think that?

SAVANNAH
It's a secret.I'm not going to tell you.
KADE

What if I told you my real name?

SAVANNAH

Tell me then and I'll tell you.

KADE

My real name is Thomas Jason Dunlap the Seventh.

SAVANNAH

That's a long title.I can read minds.

KADE

You're lying to me.

SAVANNAH
You're lying to me.
KADE

How do you know that for sure?

SAVANNAH

I just know stuff like that.

KADE

If I bought you something to eat will you

hear me out?We could really use your

help right about now. Those new police

robot things are killing off my men.

SAVANNAH

Are you really the leader?

KADE

At times.

SAVANNAH

So then like manager or something like that.

KADE

Um yeah sure.I guess.

SAVNNAH

Aren't you worried that a girl like me would

get herself killed right away?

KADE

From what I heard, not by the way you drive.

SAVANNAH

Maybe I'll consider you option after you buy

me something from McDonalds.I have to let

you know…I love their breakfast sandwiches.

KADE

At least you're cheap.

SAVANNAH

To an extent.

KADE
Ok.
SAVANNAH

But let me know. Why do you steal cars?

KADE

Because I'm the bad guy on a bad day.

With this being said, Kade mockingly salutes her before walking away from her.Now it's Savannah's turn to linger there for a bit before she runs to catch up with him.

SAVANNAH

Goddamn your long-ass legs!I can hardly

keep up with you.

KADE

I'm not that much taller than you.

SAVANNAH

Hell yeah you are.Slow down.

KADE

Why Savannah?

SAVANNAH
What?
KADE

Why were you named Savannah?

SAVANNAH

It's my dad's favorite name.I'm not really

sure why he loved it so much but my mom

told me that's what he named his ship and

that was his first choice for me before I was

born.Savannah…Savannah…Savannah
KADE

So aren't you going to ask why they call me

Kade or what?

SAVANNAH

Now why would I do that?

KADE

Um I don't really know.

SAVANNAH
Nah.I don't think so.I'm so vain.
KADE
Oooh.
SAVANNAH

Not really.I just don't care since it's not really

your name. Now if you told me your birth name

maybe I'll show an interest.

KADE

You're a tough cookie.

SAVANNAH

A tough cookie? That's like a phrase my great,

great, great, great, great grandmother would use.

KADE

Sure whatever.Just let's talk about all this stuff.

They walk into a McDonalds. The doors slide open revealing a rundown fast-food restaurant that used to be all chrome. It looks extremely futuristic but over time things started to wear down.Letters in the signs have stopped glowing.Broken tables litter the room along with trash.People stand behind the counter along with a rusty old robot that does not move or make a sound.Kade walks up to the counter with Savannah. He glances at her but she looks off into the distance lost in thought…
