1 CORRIDOR.
Lights flicker through the crack of an ajar door at the end
of the corridor. Ominous mechanical noises screech from
within.
CAMERA MOVES TOWARDS DOOR.
CUT TO:
2 LAB.
Hogarth Bartenstein works on a colossal machine (probably
cardboard on a chair), wearing welding equipment (or
goggles!).
A computer screen shows lots of details under the heading
"Temporal Transport".
THE CAMERA MOVES PAST THE SCREEN, to show a photo of a young
boy. - Hogarth’s son, Victor. Next to it is a calendar -
December 2011.
He is interrupted by a knock on the door. He stops working,
and pulls up the visor.
VICTOR
Please, father... I’m so
hungry. The fridge is empty-
HOGARTH
Hush, now! Your father is busy!
He runs over and slams the door shut.
He uses a remote to switch on music, shutting out Victor’s
pleas.
Eventually, he finished, and pulls up a mechanical
cloak. He holds it as if it is the most precious thing he
has ever seen.
HOGARTH
(stroking the cloak)
You’re beautiful...
He throws it over himself, and wraps it tight.
HOGARTH
(completely mad)
Nobel Prize, here I come!
He disappears with a blaze of light.
A SHOT OF THE DOORKNOB SHOWS THE DOOR IS HIT BY THE FORCE.
A thud and tumble can be heard from the other side of the
door...
CUT TO:
3 STREET.
Hogarth appears, wearing his time traveling cloak. He looks
around, before scampering off to the shade.
He runs to his house.
CUT TO:
4 EXT. HOUSE.
He walks up the driveway, and goes to the front door. It’s
locked. He fumbles for a key, and pulls it out, but the
door is jammed.
Hogarth turns, and walks round the house to the back
door. It opens with the faintest push.
CUT TO:
5 INT. HOUSE.
No lights are on, but he can see from the sunlight from
outside. He hears whimpering.
CAMERA SHOWS A CHRISTMAS TREE, AND A CALENDAR READING "MAY
2021"
He follows the noise, and arrives at the staircase. He
slowly ascends, the whimpering getting louder, now
accompanied with many coughs.
He reaches the top. A dirty and 16 year old Victor is lying
at the top of the stairs, looking on Death’s Door.
This shocks Hogarth, but he hides from vision. Not that
Victor would notice, so rapt in his suffering.
Hogarth fails to hold back tears...
He holds the cloak tight...
CUT TO:
6 DARK STREET.
Without wasting time, Hogarth runs to the house.
CUT TO:
7 KITCHEN.
It is dark. Hogarth flicks a switch, but nothing
happens. He moves into the living room, where everything is
turned over.
CAMERA SHOWS A BEDRAGGLED CHRISTMAS TREE, AND A CALENDAR
WHICH STILL READS MAY 2021. IT HAS NOT BEEN CHANGED.
Worried, Hogarth makes his way to the stairs, but steps on a
card. He picks it up.
THE CAMERA SHOWS IT IS A SYMPATHY CARD...
CUT TO:
8 EXT. GRAVEYARD.
Hogarth exits the graveyard, distraught, and runs from
it. He drops the sympathy card.
It reads "Victor Bartenstein, 2005 - 2021"
CUT TO:
9 STREET CORNER.
Hogarth runs until he is out of breath. Frantically, he
pulls the cloak tightly one more time...
CUT TO:
10 LAB.
He appears with another blaze of light. It takes him a few
moments to recover.
The calendar reads "December 2011".
HOGARTH
Vic.... Victor... ?
Silence.
HOGARTH
Victor?!
VICTOR
(quietly, through door)
...Father?
HOGARTH
Victor!
He moves to the door, but stops and pulls out a remote. He
presses a button, and throws the remote to the ground. He
turns to the door, slowly opens it and runs through, as it
closes behind him...
CAMERA CUTS TO SCREEN. It reads "Temporal Transport
entering Permanent Termination".
CUT TO:
11 END CREDITS.
