CHAPTER 2

"With every beating of the heart, I travel that much further in time." Einstein.

"Everything that can exits, does exist; death is merely the implosion at the fractal quantum level of that existence." Dr. Everet T. Pystrum

The researchers all gathered around. Max and Tessa along with Dr. Tower were part of the team. Before them was a black lab rat that they had been doing experiments with. The room was filled with a myriad of very complex machines. A technician took the rat and placed it in a complex maze, with food at the end of the maze.

Max said, "I don't get it. It is just another rat in a maze experiment. What is so special about that?"

Frank answered him. "We are using this specially trained rat in order to keep things simple. We believe that back in the 21st Century, a similar experiment was done, but using much more primitive equipment, back in Germany and France, making use of what is now an old collider. The critical element in this experiment, which will demonstrate the concept, it seven seconds."

Tessa asked, "Seven seconds for what?"

Frank expounded. "Imagine if you will, that you had seven seconds to change the course of time."

"That is not very much time," Tessa said.

Max uttered. "Outside of the causality, perhaps, but inside the event. It would seem like forever."

"Ah. You are working with spacitrons. They were discovered in the late 21st Century. But they were so rare, that most scientist thought them to be a fluke. Most people thought that the findings were wrong."

Frank went on. "Imagine that you are faced with a problem. You have three possible solutions, all of which lead to nowhere. That is what we have done with this rat. In this time, that we are in, the rat can not get to his objective. It is impossible for the rat to find the food. We've seen to that. The maze is a dead end."

Max said, "So. What is the point? The rat can go through the maze, he can't go over it. Why do this to the poor creature?"

Frank uttered. "Watch and see."

The experiment began as the sophisticated machines began to do their work. As the group observed, the rat then faded away. Max said, "What just happened? Did you disintegrate it?"

Tessa spoke. "No. Look. It took exactly seven seconds." They all watched as the rat materialized at the end of the maze, where the food was, and began to eat it.

Frank postulated. "Imagine being faced with an impossible situation."

Tessa interjected. "You mean like the one we are in?"

Frank nodded. "Yes. Now imagine having seven quantum seconds because of the spacitrons being bombarded on you, and you are pushed into a future in which there were infinite possibilities. You see, the future is malleable. When bombarded with spacitrons, an object, or rather living thing, enters into a temporal state of infinite flux. Possibilities that did not present themselves to you, now exist. Limited only by your imagination."

Max said, "You could change your future, no matter what the present conditions might dictate."

Frank nodded. "That is the whole point. We are experimenting with the possibility that a human being going through this process, might be able to change the course of events, in such a way, that solutions, not found here, in the present, might be viable, through the process of spacitron bombardment."

Tessa said, "Which would push the person into the future, seven seconds into eternity."

Max asked, "Who has gone through this yet?"

Frank signaled the technicians to turn off the machines. "That is the whole point. The best we have been able to do, is send the rat through the portal. No matter how complex and dead ended the experiment, the rat always materializes, with a solution, that none of the computers could have predicted."

Tessa asked, "So. Why not a person?"

"We've sent observation equipment, through, with the rat. That is why were know for sure, about the infinite possibilities. But, a rat's imagination, is limited to its design. You see, intelligence is all the same in this universe. Ants and cows and birds and fish, and yes, even mankind, even the rocks and the oceans. Everything is blessed with the same kind of intelligence. Centuries ago, psychologist thought that intelligence was localized. But, psycho-physicist later proved, that there was an underlying intelligence, to everything in the universe. There was a pervasive design, which was intelligent. And it was in the limiting of the degree of the design, which gave the illusion, of moderate to exceptional intelligence."

Tessa said, "So. The rat wants the food. When it is bombarded with the spacitrons, its only thoughts are on what it wants, and thus, seeks out a solution based on those thoughts. But a much more evolved creature, might get into that situation, and realize, that they can do so much more."

Frank smiled. "That is exactly where we are now. A person going through this process, can imagine so much more. We did experiments on monkeys, one in particular. The samething, a maze, food. But. The outcome was very different. We thought that the monkey would try and figure out a way to get at the food. Once inside the spacitron flux, the monkey began to realize that it wasn't bound, to just that one stream of thought. Seven seconds later, the monitoring equipment re-materialized, but the monkey was gone."

Max asked. "Gone? Gone where?"

"We don't know." answered Frank. "Even with the imagination of a monkey, the animal was able to imagine something totally outside the box, so far, we don't know what it finally decided to do."

Tessa said, "Is it possible, that the monkey, realized, that the maze was restrictive, and found a solution, totally off the charts? Is it possible, that given the ability to create a solution of its own, that it decided to go elsewhere to find food?"

Frank added. "Oh, happiness, or any number of things. Early experiments with humans, again, one in particular, yielded similar results. The monitoring equipment re-materialized, but the person was gone. We believe given the near God-like power to alter your life, to change the course that you are on, deep psychological ramifications must come into play. Given the ability to do something very different, the subject took it."

Max said, "Even though they were trained, and knew the importance of the experiments?"

"Specially given that situation. You might not be given another chance, to become, to do, to be..." Frank expounded.

Tessa said, "So. This is what the authorities here in Utopia wanted you to work on, your theories of trans-dimensional fractal temporal quantum mechanics. The ability to create reality. In that context, seven seconds is the maximum amount of time that one would need to totally alter a course of events in one's life."

Max was in his new apartment when there was an announcement at his door. He had been catching up on some much needed sleep. At the door was Tessa. He invited her in and they settled down in the living room. A robot servant served them refreshments.

"This is so weird. Everybody in Utopia has a robot servant. I mean, there is obviously nothing new about domestic robots. But, everybody?" Tessa expounded.

"Part of the perks of being chosen I guess."

"What did you think of the demonstration the other day?"

"Now we know why Utopia was really created. Some of humanity has to survive."

"And you are okay with that?"

"Well. You can't save everybody, Tessa."

"We could try."

"Did it ever occur to you, that maybe, in some horrible way, it gives mankind a second chance. A chance to get it right. To start over."

"Really? Is that what you've told yourself?"

"Well. What have you told yourself? Because you are here. All of the rest of them, they are out there."

"Friends. Relatives. Loved ones..."

"They are going to die anyway, Tessa. When this thing comes to pass, it's going to destroy the entire solar system."

"In a real sense, it already has."

"Yeah, well, quantum fractal mechanics aside, we have a chance to help preserve humanity."

"Hmm, you've suddenly changed." Tessa studied her friend.

There were many things about Utopia that seemed strange, and yet, many things that seemed familiar. From Tessa's point of view, she imagined that was by design. The Founders of Utopia must have wanted as many things as possible to be familiar, because, in the long run, if everything worked like planned, Utopia was going to be the only legacy that the people of Earth had. Most of the time, Tessa worked in just that one department, the advanced physics labs, doing the work of a fractal physicist. She'd run into Max from time to time and Dr. Thomas, Frank, she actually saw even less. From what Tessa could glean, Frank was in a much more coveted position than just that of a practical researcher, he actually head some seat at the Ruling Council. One of the things that Tessa was privy to was the progress of the destruction of the entire solar system. While they couldn't predict the exact day, they could pin it down to within a month or so. For something like that, on such a grand cosmic scale, at least from Earth's point of view, not that it would matter in the grand scale of things, it was pretty accurate. Given the large amount of information that had to be processed every day and every moment. Utopia worked by a governing machine. It upheld order and maintained all the major systems. The machine had total control of every aspect of Utopia and its inhabitants. One thing that was lost in this ideal city, was privacy. That went out the window, from the moment that anyone ever set foot on the landing platform. Everyone in Utopia had a personal identification chip, implanted either in their hand, if they were of the lower order, or in their foreheads, if they were of higher order, thus also displaying rank and position. Everything that was said, every move one would make, was recorded. The ruling machine was named Joan. Joan ran everything, she took care of everyone, she was for all intents and purposes, a false god. And there were those poor misguided people, who actually worshiped her, the religion was called Technoligion. And then there were the Faithers, they did everything they could, to defy authority, on Utopia. Joan was no fool, she saw the importance of religion, on the human psyche. Being programmed with the sum total of all of mankind's knowledge, our hopes and dreams, our good side and our bad side, she conducted a balancing act, like some grand conductor, while not having written the score herself, conducted a symphony of humanity, to what some called perfection. The jury was still out, as far as Tessa was concerned. She never did like to be told what to think, this, got her wondering, why she was chosen, this grand honor, to be one of the survivors?

"Why me?" she asked Max.

Max was stuffing his face, he'd gained a few pounds after arriving, something that the physical trainers, for everyone had one, was working on. "To be honest, I actually hated the idea, at first. I guess, deep inside, I resented all the others eventually dying, a horrible death, in those final days."

"So. You were like me. There is a great social injustice going on here. The rest of the world has to know." Tessa put forth. She studied her friend's face, and suddenly realized, that she knew very little about him at all. Had she simply projected her own psychology upon him?

The classroom was filled with students from all walks of life. For one reason or another, their parents, or even them, themselves, had been chosen to get a second chance, living in Utopia. Dr. Frank Thomas entered the lecture room. In front of the room sat Tessa and Max and a few other scientist. The displays lit up and all sorts of audio and visual aids and representations began.

"Today we are going to talk about the universe, in relation to the theories of Einstein. Once thought to have been proven wrong, but, later to have been found to be more right, than could have ever been predicted. Fractal quantum physics deals with interpretation. It deals with perceptions. The equation:

L = E/R is as fundamental to our understanding as E = MC^2. Dr. Everet T. Pystrum, the world renowned fractal quantum physicist, the person who invented the Lightning Rocket engine, which allows us to travel in space, faster than light, did so, by making use of Einstein's theories. Dr. Pystrum's genius came from being about to think outside the box. And it came at a time, when the world really needed it. So. The basic question he put forth and brought it into the realm of physics and out of the realm of philosophy, was: What is reality?

It was once thought way back a few hundred years ago, that the Big Bang theory, was a sound explanation for the formation of the universe. But, Dr. Pystrum was a religious man, as well as being a genius. He kept having problems, as did all physicist, at that time, with trying to come up with a unified field theory. Back then, it was the holy grail, and all physicist were working on it. You see, the basic problem was to come up with one theory that wouldn't break down, at the very small or the very large. All theories seem to do just that. They were fine for one thing, but failed when applied to another. They were looking for one theory that would explain everything. Pystrum, being religious, realized, and that is where his genius came in, that a segment of society already had an answer for that. God. A lot of religious groups believed that one being created the entire universe. His task was to take that idea, and transform it into a workable theory in physics. Not an easy task, considering, that up to that point, science and religion seemed diametrically opposed to one another. But. That was because they spoke different languages. It was the Tower of Babel effect. And in hindsight, the story of the Tower of Babel was the key for Dr. Pystrum solving what would become one of the most important puzzles of all time. Because once a unified theory, that could integrate science with the religion, was solved, then everything began to make perfect sense. Mankind, once possessed the understanding, that science and religion were the same, the same thing, just two different sides of the same coin, so to speak. He realized, that by combining the two disciplines, he would have, in effect, reversed the Tower of Babel. A language, in which people spoke both science and religion, using the exact same terms. Thinking outside the box.

The Big Bang theory went something like this, once there was an infinite quantum singularity, with infinite density and infinite mass. It exploded, and thus formed the universe. The problem is that, that was just one side of the coin. Scientist only had one piece of the answer. The other piece, came from religion. God created the Heavens and the Earth. In order for a true unified field theory to work, both understandings had to be accepted as being true. Once you got pass that fear, and allowed yourself to think outside the box, all sorts of possibilities presented itself. Dr. Evert T. Pystrum's theory went something like this:

What if both assumptions were correct. What if there were two universes, not one, and what if they existed outside what we understand as time and space. What if one universe was composed of a substance that we shall call E...darkness. And the other universe was composed of a substance called R...light. What if darkness and light, were not just concepts, but very real forms of energy. We already knew that light was a form of energy, but what if darkness was equally a form of energy. Just simply the opposite of light. What if these two universes collided.

And then there it was. Reality existed outside of our two universes. Reality was much more complicated than what we had perceived it to be. What if these two universes collided, and in the process, created a third reality. Once, there was the reality of darkness, and the reality of light, but now, there existed a reality of both darkness and light. So. Two forms of energy, both equally important, created everything that we know to be reality. Only, our reality, was at the cusp of those two conflicting powers. Everything that we know and everything that we thought was real, existed at the very edge, of where those two powerful forces, intersect. Life then, exist for us, at the point where, the Dark universe collides with the Light universe.

You see, in a nuclear explosion, as we all know, it really isn't exploding, it is imploding. But the results and the effect are all the same. Matter is being dis-associated, at the sub-atomic level. But. Because the universe is fractal, matter is being dis-associated at the quantum fractal level. In order for this one event to take place. It has to be possible. It was once thought that the universe was expanding, because of the red shift. The concept was not wrong, as Pystrum had come to realize about most of the ideas in science and in religion, it was by combining understandings, and not rejecting them, that he came up with his famous theory L = E/R. Einstein had already worked out the principles of E...it was the concepts and principles of R...that Pystrum would soon contribute. He would prove that R = L * E.

Life as we knew it, was a factor of L and E. In fact, there was so much of life that was hidden from us, that what we were calling life, could be equated to 1/100. With us only able to understand and experience, one hundredth of what was really going on in existence. The two camps were suddenly in agreement. It was just as equally plausible that there was once a singularity of infinite density as well as a multilarity of infinity expansion. One part of the universe was infinitely dense, while the other part of the universe was infinitely expansive. When the two opposite universed collided, they created a third reality, temporarily, that reality was what we all experience as life. But. Reality itself, was far more complex and inclusive. True reality meant that there were infinite universes and that they often would do strange things, one of which was to collide with one another, to create strange and different new realities.

So, Pystrum's contribution, was that of perception, his genius was sound to the engineering principle, don't re-invent the wheel. Rather than throw everything away that we had come to know and understand, he chose to think outside the box and dared to ask the unpopular question, what if both concepts were correct, it was simply language that divided them. Finding a common way to express both ideas, bridged the gap of understand and knowledge, the idea that God created the universe was just as valid as the universe evolving. What once seemed to be diametrically opposed, turned out to be exactly right, they were the same thing, just that one part of mankind's knowledge was describing one universe, while the other, the opposite universe. When they collided, the process of their annihilation, was what was creating our perception of reality. The same coin, was being viewed from only one side, but, when viewed as two sides of the same coin, made all the sense in the world, and explained so much that once puzzled, both sides of the debate.

Creation and Evolution, were two sides of the same event, but viewed from different points of view. Thus, Pystrum's great aha moment, was understanding the story of the Tower of Babel. Think about it, mankind was engaged in a great engineering and scientific process, for that time, goes the story. God caused mankind to become confused, once mankind spoke in both scientific and religious terms as one, God separated that into two different camps. One would as for mortar and would get brink, another of brick, and get mortar. Language, perception. The language of mathematics, when applied earnestly to religion, revealed that both science and religion, had a common bond, they were just the opposite sides of the same phenomenon. Because they both explained the two universes. One universe was composed of darkness. The other composed of light. When they collided, they created a third and temporal phenomenon, the reality that we all exist in.

So. What about the red shift. Could scientist have gotten it so wrong? Turns out that they didn't, with the new theory, called The Theory of One, was applied, it turned out that a red shift would exist, and there would be background radiation, throughout the entire known universe, but not because of an explosion, as was once thought, but, an implosion, happening at the quantum sub-atomic fractal level. The once coveted String Theory, yielded way to the Fractal Theory. The theory that everything in the known universe was made up of spacitrons. Infinitely small pieces of both universes, engaged in an unlikely orchestration of two very opposite macrotums. The macrotums being the two universes. In order to find the truth, one had to be brave enough to look at both sides and understand what one was viewing. There were two explanations, because there were two macrotums. Two universes, with laws and rules, germane to them, now forced to share, for however briefly, in the grand scope of time and space.

So, life actually held the key, to understanding how we came into being, just like it takes something from the man and something from the woman, to create something new, a new life. It took two very different yet germane things, to create the universe. All we need do is to just open up our minds and look about us, the answers are everywhere, anything that can exist, does exist."
