Chapter One - The Beginning

The warning siren blares, hundreds of feet are scrambling to their appropriate battlestations.
Only the sound of the tannoy breaks through the mind piercing wailing and frantic marching:

"Commander DuChesne to the War-Room please, Commander DuChesne urgently needed in the
War-Room
".

James DuChesne breathes a heavy sigh, he knows what's required and will do his duty like every
soldiering member of his family had done centuries before.  As he steels himself to leave the comfort
of his quarters, Cmr DuChesne takes one last look at the history file he was studying before.

-- June 28 2083 - The year humanity makes first contact with sentient extraterrestial life.   Called  the
Ke'Nath, they had observed us for years before deciding the time was right to broadcast their
presence on every television screen in every country on Earth.

Earth's various Governments had already known of the Ke'Nath as they had made original contact a year
previously, but fearing mass hysteria and panic, the Governments united in their reply to keep
contact secret for the time being until the public were deemed ready and able to process the world-shattering
news that we truly are not alone in the Universe.

After waiting a full year observing Earth's Governments doing absolutely nothing to ready the public, the Ke'Nath
made an ultimatum, either the Governments would inform the public or they would.  Attempting to
bluff the Ke'Nath while attempting to trace the transmissions of their ships to co-ordinate a pre-emptive
Nuclear strike if the aliens decided to undermine governmental authority.  The Ke'Nath of course
were fully aware of the underlying plans, having full, complete but secret access to all Earth's communication
networks.  However, and some would say lucky for humanity, the Ke'Nath are a noble and belevolent
species, almost parental in their attitude to less advanced cultures, made the Governments aware
of the "secret" plans and caused the worldwide electrical black-out on New Years day 2083.

Convinced of both the Ke'Naths noble intention toward Earth and moreover, their ability to neutralise
any ability the Earth would have to put up any kind of fight,  the universal decision was made to keep the
general public in the dark no longer, although on the day arranged for transmission the Governments
would feign the same surprise that the public would.

The site for planetfall was arranged by the Ke'Nath, they proposed Stonehenge, Great Britain.  The reason
why became clear the morning before touchdown just before dawn, where the stones appeared to "sing"
for around an hour, afterward a brilliant beam was released from the centre of the ring and expanded, covering
the diameter of the stones acting as a massive landing beacon.

Every country was invited to send their own emissary to greet the visitors, all of Europe, North America, Mexico
Australasia, the Sub-Continent, half of Africas nations, China all participated in sending their own representatives
The rest of the world declined to take part, mainly in highly religious countries reasons were that the refusal
to accept beings that were not created by their gods, and other reasons were suspicions of a Western plot to
destabilise that countries regime.  Others simply thought it was a hoax on a scale never before seen.

As the sun rose on the day of planetfall, a ship guided by the landing beacon descended toward the ground.  The ship
was so large it blotted the newly risen sun completely, but so silent birdsong and buzzing conversation were the
only sounds that could be heard.  So large was this ship that there was nowhere to safely land so it came to a
silent stop less than 50 metres from the ground as if anchored by the brilliant but not blinding light.
15 minutes past after the craft stopped and the atmosphere could be cut with a knife, almost as if there was
anticipation on whether the whole thing was a setup at all.  Until finally a large figure emerged from the light
between 7 and 8 feet tall, powerfully built with an inverted triangular face.  Large eyes that seemed to glow
a slight but haunting green colour and what seemed to be a breathing respirator covering the rest of the face.

Finally once the lone figure was satisfied that the astonished looks and photographers had taken their fill of
pictures, the figure spoke, in a low, booming voice that seemed to be coming from everywhere around in every
language of the representative countries:

"My name is Askin'Rar, we are the Ke'Nath, we come from the planet named of Cybertius, in the constellation
you call Triangulum Australe.  We wish you no harm, much prosperity and mutual friendship."

The first to step forward to return the greeting bowed slightly and spoke shakily into a microphone,
"On behalf of the people of Great Britain my name is Benjamin DuChesne,

Welcome to Planet Earth....

LOL as a computer-games and massive sci-fi geek, the inspiration wasn't very hard to come by. Hopefully if demand is such I will continue and put more detail into the following chapers, what do you think? ;-)

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. You have to make it into a novel. Would love to see how there whole thing turned inot a war. Love the beginning so far. Always think that space is way too large to just hold us humans....n I love stories like this. Keep me posted if you post another chapter.

Thank-you so much Whitehart, feeling so guilty for not replying sooner, I do hope you'll forgive me for that and more thanks for your comments. :-) I always look forward to seeing what you have to say when I publish something new.

LOL, I have no idea, I have a load of ideas swimming around in my head, it's just trying to cherry-pick the best ones and what will fit into the story. I shall let you know as soon as any additions are made matey, promise.

Stupid government trying to trick the aliens. That never works out well! Well, I guess it did here but only because they knew how stupid we were too. I liked how you brought the commander back into it. Honestly I got so into the aliens coming down to earth that I forgot about him! I would be interested in seeing where you take this. ~Em

LOL agreed, Billions of light years coming to Earth in ridiculously advanced technology only to be outwitted by a bunch of barely evolved primates.... I don't think so either!!!

Love the fact you got so absorbed by the aliens, I wasn't sure if I wa sbeing a bit too vague or skimming over certain things that make for absorbign reading, glad I sort of got that right!

Chapter 2 is in the making, begging your patience and to quote an old cliche "Watch this space".....

Oh I love it! How did you come up with this? I'm intrigued by Stonehenge, I wondered where you were headed with it, as I've heard so many reasons/possibilities about what the stones are there for.

I haven't said this before but your writing is so intelligent, sometimes I have to rewind to make sure I understood. You did such an awesome job with this! Will there be more? :) ~ Nixie

I....erm...well..I.. Nope has to be stated - I'm speechless!
As a massive fan of your work that has got to be the best compliment I've ever had. Good job you can't see me right now, my head looks like a belisha beacon!

The magic with places like Stonehenge is that they are so mysterious you can do what you like with them and you won't get people pooh-poohing your idea outright. Anything's plausable!

Thankyou so much, and yes there will be more chapters added though I've got something else brewing that is a complete different direction from this one. A consequence of being a "Jak" of all trades and master of none!! ;-)
