Episode 1: Meant to be
My legs cant move, My body is shaking, frozen with fear, My eyes are locked with her eye as her hair covered majority of her face. Blood is dripping down her broken dangling arm and broken jaw. We both stood still, she was standing in front of the front door which was broken wide open, and I was in the middle of the living room. Rain slowly followed after the sound of thunder filled the sky. She then slowly lifted up her head and her hair fell down as I saw the rest of her flesh torn face. My eyes widened at the horror of what I was looking at.
"You're supposed to be dead….I saw you die. I saw you get hit by the truck! So why are you standing here?! I yelled at her and she just stood in the doorway: lifeless, silent, just like a ghost. She then fixed her jaw back in place.
In a creepy, demonic voice that was almost a whisper she glared at me and said "Hello Dear, I'm Home." And just as she finished speaking, a small smile fixed on her lips leading more and more into a big psychotic and heartless smile that sent chills down my spine. What made it worse was that lightning struck the sky just as she smiled so I saw her whole dismantled face and smile and it was forever imprinted in the back of my brain.
She then slowly started to walk towards me. Each step slower than the last but longer reach. The rain started to pour like a hurricane outside. And with each step she took, I took one back, trying to look for someone to use to defend myself, I bump into the bookshelf. She takes off, charging at me at full speed and in a brief moment of panic, I move out the way and grab the back of her head and slam it into the wall. CRUNCH, CRUNCH, CRUNCH, the sound of her face crunching as I continue to slam it into the wall. Blood splattered all over the wall and my clothing…..
I wake up in another cold sweat.
"The same dream again." I say to myself. Its been happening for the past week and a half. I wonder why its happening now and not months ago. I get out of bed and stare out the window. Hundreds of thousands of zombies jamming the streets. The sound of moaning and groaning fills my ears before I finally close the window and go to the bathroom for my shower. I keep my head down as the water hot water hits my body. Standing there, thinking of how and why this all happened. 5 minutes later when I leave the bathroom, looking for my shirt, the door opens and I pull my gun out and hold it at Elisa's head as she shrieks.
I sigh and shake my head as I say: " That makes 64 times Elisa." I gently ruffle her hair a little and try to pull off a small smile. Elisa pouts and steps a step back and looks down then proceeds to tell me that the Council wants to see me for a meeting then she leaves. Why would the Council want to see me? If it made Elisa sad then it must mean only one thing…..scavenger hunting again. Whatever it is, I have to go. I grab my shirt and put it on while walking to the meeting hall.
"Ahh, finally arrived after 5 days I see." Said Yazmin, one of the toughest guards we had, for a girl I mean. When it came to a fight, she was a little bit on the rough side. But she was a certified badass, or that's what the title said that we all gave her.
"You know me. I love taking my time doing things."
"I noticed that." Yazmin had said with a smile.
"Elisa told you huh?" I said smiling back while walking past her. "Wish me luck in there."
"Good luck." She said as I entered the meeting room.
As I open the door, Dylan runs towards me and hugs me as tight as she could while crying. Dylan was like the little sister I always wanted but never had until all of this shit started. I held onto Dylan while she cried and looked up and saw them, The Council. I stared at them and they stared back at me with careless emotions.
Hirokichi, the leader of The Council spoke, "You must already know-"
"Are all of you crazy?! You know that you cant send me out there, I'm too much of a valuable asset to these people to be thrown out there to those things!"
"Hold your tongue, Miguel! Do not dare to argue with us!" Destroyer said. Destroyer was in his mid 30s but could still hold his own against anything that was thrown at him, thus earning him the title of: Destroyer, The Vicious amongst the council and the survivors.
"Resist Destroyer. We too can not argue with him for he is right." Said Yuna in her always calm tone. Yuna was the head medic for the Medic Facility so naturally she knew everyone and everyone knew her. She was luckily the calm and nice person on the Council aside from Tsubaki who was the weapon specialist.
After an hour and a half of arguing, I stormed out with Dylan and brought her to her room and left her a giant jar of pickles for her since she's obsessed with them. After dropping her off, I went up to the roof only to find Elisa standing in the usual spot. I walked up to her and smiled, she smiled back and we talked about the dream I've been having over and over and about what just happened with the Council. She was kind of girl that was there for me since day 1, always listened and cared, sweet and funny, just like her sister Dylan.
After half an hour of talking and catching up on things, I heard a cry coming from just outside the gate. A little girl was inside an old beat up chevy, alone. I looked at Elisa and she already knew what I was going to do so I took off and yelled after me, "Be careful you idiot!"
