Chapter 3 Jim was upset with his mistake. He had had the chance to catch Maggie but he didn't. He was satisfied with Samantha's death; yet he wished so much it would have been Maggie. His thoughts contradicted each other all the time he as noticing. He had thoughts of killing Maggie and then thoughts of just capturing her and keeping her as his own. He knew for a fact that he wanted her dead. Though he wanted to keep her. He had no idea of how to have both unless after he killed her that he could keep her corpse. He thought that keeping her corpse would be a bad idea though, it would decompose after a while. Also he had nowhere to keep her. After the cops would catch him for the crimes he had committed. He would be put in prison, and when he got out he wouldn't have a house. He would have nothing when he would get out of prison, and Maggie would be far away in hiding. Someway he would make up his mind. Any solution he would take. Maggie sat in the police station with a cup of coffee shaking in her hands. She had no idea what Jim would do next and just the idea of thinking about it made her nervous. The detective that had been with her through this whole thing was named Mitch Holly. He was the one who investigated the crime scene of her sister, and he was the one who had questioned her about the whole incident. He seemed like a nice guy, but if you were not a criminal you would think that all cops and detectives were nice, as long as they were helping you. He told her that she would want to find a place to go where Jim would least expect her to be. She knew just who to go see. Jim sat on the edge of the bed in his motel room thinking of what to do next. Maggie only had three siblings. Samantha, who was dead, David, who lived in Germany, and Sara, who lived only about ten miles away from Samantha. Maggie would have warned Sara about him. She would have told her to go somewhere safe, and with a husband and two kids she was a pretty safe target. The good thing though was that Sara worked as a secretary at a small billing agency. She worked with only about fifteen other employees, but she worked at the front where there weren’t many people. He knew this information from when he had gone with Maggie to help move her new desk in. If he was to take Sara that would put Maggie in a state to give herself up. She could lose one sister and feel completely depressed, but threaten her that she would lose another, and she would give herself right up. Maggie called her sister Sara to tell her to be very cautious. She told her that Jim had killed Samantha and had told her that she might be next. Sara was one of those people that wanted to feel safe all the time, and that's why she carried pepper spray in her purse. Her husband had also liked to feel protected all the time and he owned a large collection of guns. Sara always kept a small gun at the bottom of her desk drawer just in case something would happen. Maggie felt better when she knew this. Knowing that her sister was well protected gave her a sense of security, but the feeling of worry was always there. Jim knew that Maggie would be safe for a while. He knew that it would be harder to find her now, but her would have to get her, and soon at that. Maggie called up her friend Violet and asked her if she could stay there for a while. She told her the whole story and told her that since she was one of the very few friends that Jim did not know of that her house or apartment would be the best place to stay. Violet kindly agreed and told her to come on over. Maggie knew that driving her car would be a very bad idea and so did the police. She left he car at the police station and was dropped off at a rent-a-car place. She rented a car for a two-week period not knowing how long this horror with Jim would last. When she pulled up to Violet's apartment building she was shaking terribly. She had thoughts like the ones she had when she was at Samantha's. She knew that Jim didn't know Violet, but there was still that slight feeling. Slowly Maggie got out of her car and walked over to the door of the building. She opened the wooden door and looked into the hallway. She looked around and saw the rooms 1A, 2A, 3A, and on the other side 4A, 5A, and there was Violet's room, 6A. She walked over to the door and knocked three times. Then to her relief a voice said, "Hold on, I'll be right there." Jim was angry with himself. He was taking to much time getting Maggie. He wanted her now, but he knew it would be quite a while. Pacing his motel room he thought of what to do. He had decided earlier that he was going to get Sara, and now more than ever he was ready. But he wasn't sure of Sara's work schedule. He felt like an idiot not knowing but came up with a simple solution. So he called Sara's work to see if she was in, and to his surprise she was the one who answered the phone. He instantly hung up the phone and decided that it was now or never. So he left his motel room and got into the car and left. Chapter 4 Maggie sat on Violet's couch with a Coke in hand and was watching the news. Violet had left for work only ten minutes before, and now she was alone. She watched the T.V. carefully making sure that she saw everything. She didn't know what was going to happen the next few days but she decided that she was safe. When she finished her Coke she took the can into the kitchen and threw it away. She remembered what Violet had said about getting anything you want from the fridge whenever, so she made herself a sandwich. When she sat back down on the couch she stared at the T.V. thinking of what she may have missed. Jim parked his car directly behind Sara's work and then walked around to the front. He stared through the glass door and saw Sara sitting behind her desk staring at some papers. Jim made his move and walked in slowly. The bell above the door made a mild chime and Sara looked up and the smile that she had on turned instantly into a frown. She looked down and pulled open a drawer. Jim couldn't see what she was doing but he moved quickly up to her. When he got right in front of the desk she pulled out a can of pepper spray and sprayed him right in the face. Jim flew back in agony and began rubbing at his eyes. The burning hurt so bad and the smell, it made him cough. "Don't move, Jim. I have a gun aimed right at your chest." Sara said with no hesitation. Jim started to cough very roughly and started to move back toward the door. "Don't move Jim, I'm warning you," Sara said moving toward him. Several of the people that worked with Sara began to come and see what was going on and saw that Jim was moving for the door. Sara held the gun tightly and kept it aimed directly at Jim, she couldn't kill him legally unless he started or attempted to attack her, so she just kept the gun aimed at him. At the last second Jim could partially see so she took his chance and sprinted out the door. Maggie sat on the couch with a plate in her lap with a half-eaten sandwich sitting on it. She sat perfectly still until she heard her phone ring. She jumped up knocking her sandwich to the floor and ran to her purse. When she pulled it out she didn't bother looking to see who it was she just answered it. "Maggie, it's Sara, Jim just tried to come in here. Now don't worry, I got him with pepper spray and he ran out. The police are here now and they're asking me questions. A detective Holly asked me to call you and tell you what had happened. He also told me to tell you that I'm all right and that they found a car that he had stolen. Though they didn't find him." Sara said. "Thank you, Sara. Any idea where he might have gone?" Maggie asked. "No, but, hey, I gotta go. They need to ask me a few more questions. Bye." Sara said then hung up. Maggie closed her cell phone and put it back into her purse. When she returned to the couch she picked up the sandwich and set the plate on the end table. Jim ran as fast as he could, with the irritating burning on his face he ran right past his car. He wasn't thinking straight. He didn't know what he was feeling. He felt so angry that he thought his skin was burning. He felt like the blood that ran through his veins was boiling. The pain was unbearable, he needed to sit down and rest. He ran as fast as he could and when he could see well enough he saw that he was only about a block away from his motel. So he ran a bit faster making sure that he was taking back streets and alleys. When he got to his motel room he went directly to the bathroom and started to wash off the irritant from his face. He splashed cold water on his face and kept rubbing. When he looked up into the mirror he couldn't believe what he saw. Maggie went from the couch to the bathroom to the spare bed. She laid her head on the soft pillow and thought of all that she has been put through. She thought about all that had been hurt from the terror that Jim had been spreading. She closed her eyes and waited to fall asleep. Jim looked at the mirror at a face that wasn't his. When he looked further he noticed that not only was his face different but his whole body. He was a woman. When he looked at the mirror again he noticed he wasn't just a woman, he was Samantha, Maggie's sister that he had killed. He had no idea how this happened but the result gave him many new ideas. The bad thing was that Samantha was dead and if Sara or Maggie saw Samantha walking around they would know something was wrong. But how had this happened was the question Jim asked himself. Another question was could he do this again and to another person? Jim had no idea; this was completely new and unbelievable to him. He closed his eyes amazed and thought of himself for just a few seconds and when he looked back into the mirror he was himself again. He thought he was dreaming but he closed his eyes again and thought of Maggie. He pictured her in his mind and when he opened his eyes he saw Maggie. He was Maggie. When he changed himself back he felt weak and tired. Changing himself was a hard task and it took quite a bit of strength to pull off. So as Jim walked back to his motel room bed he rested his head on the pillow and fell asleep. Maggie woke up in the morning to the smell of bacon and eggs and the sound of music playing in the kitchen. She stumbled into the kitchen and said good morning to Violet. Violet said good morning as well and handed her a plate of bacon and eggs and told her to sit down and eat. When she was done eating she got a shower and put on some cloths that Violet had put out for her. "I talked to my boss and he said if you would like a job he has an opening as a waitress, if you interested you can come in today so he can talk to you," Violet said. Maggie nodded and took her dish to the sink. This would be the first time in a while that she would work. Jim was the one who paid for everything, so she hadn't needed a job. Jim woke up and went back to the bathroom and changed to several people before he got in the shower. When he finished he changed some more and was happy with his new found talent. This was one way to get Maggie. All he had to do was change into someone and he could easily avoid the police. Maggie would never expect it. He got dressed and decided to take a little drive to Sara's house. Maybe he could catch Maggie there, with a little help. Maggie went with Violet and talked to Violet's boss. He told her that if she wanted to have a job it was open for her and Maggie kindly accepted it. Now she wouldn't start this day, he told her to come back tomorrow for training. Maggie went back to Violet's apartment and sat on the couch. She turned on the T.V. right as her cell phone rang. "Hey Maggie, I was just wondering what you're doin' tonight." Sara asked. "Not much Sara, just watchin' T.V." Maggie replied. "Well, would you meet me at my house?" Sara asked. "Sure thing. See ya soon." Maggie said then hung up. She got up from her moment of sitting and grabbed her purse. She went to her car and started towards Sara's house when her cell phone rang again. Jim knew that Maggie would come, but he needed to hurry to get to Sara's house so that the real Sara could be taken care of. He changed his form to Sara's husband who he had only met twice and got into another stolen car. He started towards Sara's house. "Hello?" Maggie asked. "Hey, Sis, it's Sara, just checkin' up on you." Sara said.
"Didn't you just call me? You told me you wanted to do something tonight." Maggie said confused.
"No, can't do anything tonight I gotta watch the kids. Mark is working tonight." Sara said. "Don't joke with me, Sara. You just called and told me to meet you at your house. I'm on my way there now." Maggie said beginning to worry. "Well you can come over but we can't do anything." Sara said. "Fine then I'll be right over. Bye." Maggie said then hung up. This was odd, she didn't imagine the phone call had actually happened. She could check the caller-ID. So she did and the three minute later call came from Sara but the first came from an unknown number. There was no way Sara could have called before. Even Sara's cell phone showed up on the caller-ID, but not this time .She knew something was wrong so she sped her car up almost fifteen miles over the speed limit and hoped to get to Sara's quickly. Jim drove the car a few miles over the speed limit not knowing where Maggie might have been staying. He was only a few minutes away from Sara's house so he sped up just a bit. Maggie pulled into Sara's driveway and quickly got out. When she got to the front door one of Sara's kids opened it and told her that Mommy was in the kitchen. As soon as Maggie saw her sister she was relieved. "Something's going on, Sara. I know it wasn't you who called first. It was someone else. Now we need to lock the doors immediately." Maggie said. So both Sara and Maggie went around and made sure that the windows were locked and that both the front and the back door were locked. When Maggie walked to the front window to look out she saw a car park across the street and saw Mark, Sara's husband get out of the car. "Didn't you say that Mark was working tonight?" Maggie asked. "Yah, why?" Sara replied. "Well he just got out of a green van and is walking up to the house right now." Maggie said raising her voice a little. "We don't have a green van. It can't be Mark." Sara said confused. Sara moved to the window and saw Mark, or what looked exactly like Mark walking up the driveway. "Why would he park a car in the street and not the driveway?" Maggie asked. "He wouldn't." Sara said. "It's not Mark."
