Chapter 1: the idea

"We never do anything anymore as a group, sure we see each other once in a while but never all together. We should all go and do one of our old trips like we used to. Do it this weekend, before summer vacation, before we graduate and go off to college, maybe never seeing each other again," Alice said.

"Ok, I'll do something but I don't know about the other guys, what did you have in mind?" said Chris.

"How about we all go to the boardwalk and the beach? We haven't done that in so long and I'd hate to leave here without visiting it one last time." Alice suggested.

"Ok that's fine by me but I don't know if the others will come, they all seem to be off doing their own things most of the time. I'll call Lindsey, and hopefully Mike isn't over her house." Chris explained. He walks over to the phone. It only rings once before a male voice answers the phone. It is obvious that Mike is over Lindsey's house again.

"Hey Mike uh, would you and Lindsey like to go to the boardwalk and the beach with me and Alice? He asked.

"No, I wouldn't like to, you know I hate the beach." Mike screamed loud enough so Lindsey could hear him; she came over and asked what it was about. Mike told her and she told him she wanted to go, they of course had another 10-minute fight and again Lindsey won. Chris is still on the phone listening to all this and then there is a little bit of silence. When there finally is a response it is a girl’s voice.

"Yeah, we'd both love to go." Lindsey said. Chris can hear Mike mutter "Yeah right."

Chris then asked, "Hey, can you two call the others?"

"Yeah, sure but you can call Ashley."

“Ok, thanks" Chris said right before hanging up the phone.

Alice calls Ashley. "Hey, haven't seen you in a while Alice, sure I’d love to go with you guys, but I’m not going to go in the water at the beach, I only want to go to the boardwalk." she says after Alice explains what they are doing. "Ok see you Saturday then," Alice says as she hangs up to avoid another 15-minuite conversation with her.

Chapter 2: the dream

Michelle is lying asleep in her bed. She is having a weird dream about a cave. She dreams that everyone goes in the cave. Then she is running but she doesn't know why. Next thing she knows she is falling in a bottomless pit. She wakes up screaming having no idea where she is. When she finally realizes she gets up and goes to the bathroom, not because she has to use the toilette, but because she needs to use the mirror. In her dream she had a cut on her face. She got it when she was falling in her dream. She had to make sure that part of the dream wasn't real either. She never believed in dreams being realistic or that they were ever true, and she was never so freaked out by one, but this one was different. This dream had a weird feeling to it, like it was a never-ending problem she was going to have, or even worse, a problem that would be permanently ended. She knew they were going to the beach tomorrow and had to sleep. She was a little sick the night before and really needed her rest. She wished Dan, her boyfriend, was here because he would be able to help calm her down.

After making sure there wasn't a cut on any part of her body and calming herself the best she could, she climbed back into bed, but, she just sat there lying awake the rest of the night. At some points of the night she laughed at herself and the fact that she finally got freaked out by a simple dream, but at other parts of the night, she remembered why she was freaked out, and she had the feeling again. She didn't know if she wanted to fall asleep. She knew she was sick and really wanted to go to the boardwalk with her old friends, but she did not want to have the dream ever again. She lies there awake until morning when she hears the phone ringing. It was Elizabeth, calling to make sure she's still going and to tell her that they are meeting at Mike's place so they can all just take Chris's van and Steve's truck, instead of taking 7 different cars.

Michelle is still sick and is kind of freaked out still. She had to make the decision not to go because she needed to get better so she could go to school on Monday. She really hated doing that but knew it was the better move. She goes back into bed and falls asleep instantly.

Chapter 3: lost

"Mike, where are you even going? I knew it was the other way! Why are we even following you? You never even go to the damn boardwalk how would you know where it is? Mike! MIKE!" Lindsey screamed

"Shut up! I know where I’m going, you are not always right nor do you know everything. This time I am right just deal with it."

"Great... Mike and Lindsey are fighting again,” Chris whispered to Alice. "Yeah, and Lindsey is right too. The boardwalk is the other way I think, but I haven't gone there in so long I can't be sure" Alice replied.

"Why didn’t you say anything?" Chris asked.

"Because you see how Mike is yelling Lindsay, imagine how he talk to me if I was wrong.

"Hey, instead of going to the boardwalk first, how about we just go swimming first? It's burning hot out here and by the time we get to the boardwalk we'll be dry anyways." Steve said. They decide to and they all get ready for swimming and put all their other clothing and shoes, money and wallets, purses and hats into the bag that Ashley brought for that very reason. She is carrying it because everyone else is going in the water, but she doesn't like to get wet. She decides to stay out of the water, and remains in normal clothing.

After a while everyone comes out of the water, but most of them are still walking on the edge so they get a little wet because it is so hot. Mike is in front of the people walking in the water and the only ones not in the water is Ashley, and Ryan who is talking to Steve while he walks, not paying too much attention to anything. All the sudden Mike stops, and Ryan slams into Mike. He points away from the water. It is a cave. He says, “Look,” and everyone does thinking it might be a sign of the boardwalk.

Chapter 4: going inside

They were not dressed for going in a cave. They all were barefoot besides Ryan and Ashley, who were both changed back into the outfit to go to the boardwalk in, and they were just wearing sandals, not much help either. They all wore normal bathing suits besides Ryan who wore a shirt from after he got out of the water, and Ashley who were wearing regular clothing because she didn’t go in the water.

Chris says, "Hey, man that cave looks cool, let's go in it. "

"Yeah, ok," Alice, says and she and Chris run off, soon followed by Elizabeth, Dan and Ashley. Lindsey tells Mike to come on and she runs off followed by Mike just going to shut Lindsey up.

Eventually it is only Steve and Ryan standing there, Steve says, "Wow, this place looks weird." Ryan agrees but they decide to follow their friends.

Everyone finally gets to the cave and everyone is inside, they hear some rolling noise, it is pretty soft but it kind of sounds like a giant rock. It is moving pretty slowly, but they can see it is starting to cover up the entrance of the cave. They all bolt to get out. Ryan and Steve make it outside and see what they thought was happening was happening. Unfortunately, Mike thought he could get out too, in fact he did, at least 1 arm and most of his head did. Steve and Mike see this and start thinking what they can do. On the other side, everyone else sees Mike's leg and other arm and some of his torso. They all realize he is dead. Lindsey falls to the floor and eventually so does everyone else. They all start crying. They can't believe one of their best friends just died.

On the other side, Steve and Ryan decide they should go get help. They have the key to Ryan's truck because he got out of the water and put his clothes back on. It was a good thing they did or they’d be stuck there too. They run off to where their car is, but it is really far away.

Finally, Elizabeth asks what they should do. Lindsey is still crying but everyone else starts thinking because they know they cannot stay here. Ashley had already eaten the only food in the bag, which was just a candy bar, and they were all trapped. Chris finally says they should go see if there is another way out. They all agree and start walking the only way they can. Dan notices Lindsey is not coming. He goes and talks to her and finally gets her to come.

Chapter 5: attacked...kind of

They all continue to follow the path until they come to a bunch of turns. They could go left and down, slightly left and very slightly down, or choose to veer a little to the right and up a steep hill. They figured the hill had the best chance of having an exit because maybe there is an opening on the top, but then they wondered how they'd get down, and that is only a chance. As they are thinking of this they hear a noise coming from the slightly left way. It sounds like it is coming towards them and Chris can see it as well as a few others. Chris says it's just a mouse and not to be alarmed but before they knew it, Ashley threw her bag, and Elizabeth and Ashley were running. Dan screamed back to Chris he'd get them and he ran off too. Before Chris knew it, only him and Alice were standing there wondering if they should kill this rat that scared their friends. It looked kind of viscous but it wasn't doing anything much. They decided they needed to catch up to Dan and the others.

Chapter 6: a hole

Ashley and Elizabeth were running as fast as they could still. They had no idea that Dan was following them, and no idea where they were going. Before they knew what happened they saw a huge hole with seemingly no end to it about a foot ahead of them. They tried to stop but they were running so fast. Elizabeth kind of stopped herself but Ashley had no chance, Ashley started to fall head first down the cliff.

Elizabeth was able to grab on to the edge of the cliff though and Dan wasn't too far behind her so he was able to pull her up. "Uh, where's Ashley, is she..." Elizabeth made little noises but couldn't make words; all she could do was to point down. Then Chris and Alice arrived before Dan could look down. They asked where Ashley is and what happened. Then they asked where Lindsey is, but nobody knew that. They both thought she was with the other group and realized she's missing. Some time passed before they heard a noise coming from the hole.

It was Ashley screaming for help. She was still headfirst, sandal caught on a small branch. They all saw this and also saw that that branch is about to break. Chris asked where the bag of clothing was and Ashley remembered throwing it. She told Chris and he runs off to get it because he had an idea. Meanwhile, they can hear they twig cracking. Just as Chris returned everyone heard something snap. Ashley starts falling again. She grabs onto another twig but she can’t hold on. Grabbing onto that stick swung her around so she isn’t falling headfirst anymore. They hear a loud bang and know it's her. They can't hear her after that and all think she is dead until she screams in pain.

They ask what happened and she explains. She also explains that her leg was broken and there is no way she can move anywhere. They decide to try Chris's idea, which was to tie the clothing and shoes together and hopefully make a rope that will hold.

Chapter 7: Lindsey

Lindsey starts sobbing "Why...why was it you that had to die? Sure we had our fights but I still loved you..." she continued crying. She is back to where they started, over by that boulder where Mike got crushed. For a second she thought she saw him moving, legs kicking try to free himself, but she knew she was imagining things because nobody could live threw that.

She is still crying. She suddenly hears something behind her. For a while she thinks it is Dan, or maybe Chris. For a split second she thought it was Mike, and then remembered he is in front of her, well at least most of him is. The noise is actually the rat. He sneaks up on her but before he can get to her she realizes where she heard the noise from before. She knows it's the rat. It leaps at her. She turns around with a rock in her hand, which she smashes into the rat’s head.

Chapter 8: got help

Steve and Ryan return to the beach on the way back to the cave. They have a demolition crew, a medic, a police car, and a fire truck following their truck..

When everyone finally gets there they decide they should try to move it. They can't move it though. It is way too heavy. They don't see much else that they could do. They only have one choice left, if they can't move the rock they will have blow it up. They set up all their dynamite. This boulder is huge and they know they will need a lot. It'd be better to get overkill than to not put enough of it because if they don't use enough they just wasted all they used. They tell everyone to back away because they really stacked up the dynamite; not knowing Lindsey is just on the other side of the rock and is in danger.

Everyone moves their vehicles out of the way and move as far back as they can go. Then lower the lever and the dynamites explode

Chapter 9: going down

They finally tie all they can; it is pretty long because all the clothing they had. They wonder if it'd hold though. They doubt it would hold a guy's weight but maybe one of the girl's. Elizabeth insisted it be she because she felt she was partially responsible for Ashley falling. She felt bad and knew the clothing would probably hold. They tested it the best they could before sending her down by holding her a little off the ground first. It worked and then she said she was ready. They slowly lowered the rope down the cliff with Elizabeth tied on. It held up without a sign of breaking.

When she got to the bottom she saw Ashley. Her leg was completely bent back and it was definitely broken. Elizabeth tied Ashley to the rope. The other three pulled her up slowly as to not break the rope. She made it to the top again without a single flaw. The three moved her to the corner of the room. Dan said after they get Elizabeth he would wait with her while the other three go and look for a way out.

Ashley thinks about how nice Dan has been. She wished she could go out with him. Unfortunately, though, Michelle is. She wondered if maybe Dan was a little attracted to her though, since Dan followed her and Elizabeth, and how he decided he'd stay with her. Eventually she figured it was just because she was hurt though.

The three uninjured people start lowering the rope for Elizabeth. Before they could reach the bottom though, they heard two light yells then one horrifying scream. They all wondered what happened. They called out her name three times and heard no response. They decided they all have to go down. They tied the rope to a rock that was stuck in the ground, they only hoped the clothing would hold all three of them, but they didn't think of that, they just needed to get down there fast.

Chapter 10: more problems

Before the three of them went down, Dan asked Ashley if he should stay with her. Ashley insisted that he doesn't. She knows it is more dangerous down there than where she is, and she figures Dan could be needed down there. Dan says ok and heads down the rope followed by Alice and then Chris.

When they all reach the bottom nobody can find Elizabeth. It is very dark down there. Finally, after some time, Alice spots something on the ground. It’s Elizabeth. She runs over to her thinking she just tripped, until Alice got close enough to her. She noticed a few things quickly. First of all there was blood-surrounding Elizabeth; secondly Elizabeth had no head; thirdly, it looked as if Elizabeth was a pile of skin, without bones or meat. When she saw this she almost fell over fainting, but Chris was able to grab her. They all stood staring until they heard a scream coming from Ashley.

It was a long scream but kind of sounded weird near the end. They all ran toward the rope, but once Alice touched it, the whole thing broke apart, making it rain clothing. They wondered how this happened and if they were all going to die down there. They hoped there was another way up, and decided to go the only direction they could. Unfortunately they had to pass Elizabeth again. They tried not to look at her as they passed by but it was hard not to.

Chapter 11: faceless man

He was holding Ashley by the neck. Her unbroken leg was kicking trying to break free. He wore a dark robe and held a long blade in his hand. He has no face and his hands which held her was just bones. She imagined this is what death looked like, and for good reason. She wondered if anyone has ever been down here before, and assumed nobody ever survived it if they had.

He picks up his weapon. He places the sword behind her head. He moves his hand back further away from her head and begins to swing.

Chapter 12: the fight and the light

"Why didn't you stay with her? Now she is going to die too, and so will we! It's all your fault, Dan; I hope you’re happy. You let her fall down the hill, forced Elizabeth to come down here and then left her by herself. You killed us all!" Chris screamed at his friend.

"My fault! You think it's my fault? At least I asked her if she wanted me to stay with her. You didn't even have the thought! Plus it was your idea to go to the boardwalk, and your idea to go in this cave!" Dan screams.

He runs toward Chris to attack him, Chris pushed Dan into the wall. A piece of the wall pushes back, and once it does, the room fills with light.

"Whoa what just happened?” Alice says.

"Maybe this cave used to be used by people for some reason. Possibly an abandoned mine or a hideout for criminals " Dan said.

"Must be, but how are the lights running?" she asked.

"There must be some sort of a generator down here. If we follow these wires on the ceiling we can possibly find it, and possibly find a way out of here." Chris said.

They decided to try this. They start following the wires that lead to a slightly uphill ramp. They keep following this ramp until they come to a choice where to go. Dan recognized the area. Then in the distance he saw Lindsey lying on the floor.

Chapter 13: a second try

"What? It didn't work! The rock is still fully intact! So is Mike... What happened? I saw the explosion..." Ryan said.

"I know... what just happened there? I guess we should try again..." Steve says.

The demolition crew throws all the dynamite they have left on the rock. The back up as far as possible and make them blow again. Again nothing happened. They were out of dynamite and out of ideas, and confused. "Now what do we do?" Steve asked.

Chapter 14: reuniting

It was still dark there; it looked like the lights didn't reach that far. It seemed to end right when they chose which direction to go. They still made out Lindsey from far away though and saw she was still sitting by Mike like she was when they first got stuck in here.

"What are you doing here? We were worried about you. We need to get out of here right away! Elizabeth is dead and Ashley is too probably, there is something attacking us and we don't know a way out!" screamed Alice. Everyone was kind of shocked how Alice acted even though they all knew Lindsey deserved it.

"If you don't know a way out why do I have to come with you?" Lindsey asked.

Dan tried many times to get her to come, but she will not. They decide to get Ashley and look for an exit. They plan to come back for Lindsey once they find one

The three of them start down the hill. This is lit up too. Alice was crying the whole way and Chris was trying to help her. Dan was leading and didn't hear her crying. He was thinking of a way out and wasn't going to pay attention to anything else.

They finally got to the cliff; they looked over to the corner. They saw Ashley. She was alive. She was holding where her arm used to be though. They all rushed over to her. They all were thinking she was going to bleed to death. She told them to find a way out. Then Alice got an idea. All the clothing fell to the bottom of the cliff, except for one. Elizabeth's shirt was tied to the rock earlier so all three of them could go down the cliff without having to have Ashley hold the rope or have someone stay up with Ashley. It did not fall, so Alice untied it and brought it over to Ashley. She tied it onto Ashley's arm and applied pressure.

When the bleeding slowed a little they asked what happened. She told them. It picked her up by her neck; she described him in detail, along with his weapon. She explained the death look and how he had no face. She explained how he put the blade behind her head and was ready to swing, when the lights suddenly flashed on, and he screeched and pulled back quickly. He moved so quick she didn't see where he went but noticed her arm was lying next to her on the ground. They then told her their story.

Dan and Chris searched the room for another exit while Alice made sure Ashley was good enough to stand and grabbed her missing arm. She hoped that if they can get out of here maybe they could reattach it. There was no other way out so they knew their last chance was the steep hill. They knew it would be tough with Ashley but knew it was their last shot. They would have left Ashley here for now, but they didn't know if the lights would stay on forever.

Just then they remembered Lindsey and how the lights were off there. They had to get there before he did.

Chapter 15: bringing Ashley

They are lucky she doesn't weigh too much, especially when she is missing one of her arms. Dan and Chris had to carry her up the hill, which took about 10 minutes at the speed they were going. When they finally got up they turned toward the way Lindsey is. It looked even darker than it did before. They couldn't see her or the rock until they were about 10 feet away. She was on the ground. She was laying down legs toward them and her facing the rock with Mike. Alice dropped the bag and ran toward her. She got over to her and saw she was actually fine. She expected the worst because she was sitting before. This time she was crying loudly, her head burrowed into the ground. Alice told her what happened but she still refused to come.

Dan, Chris and Ashley were still far away. They were the first to see it again. Coming through the rock was the beast. Alice and Lindsey didn't see it until Dan finally screamed something. Alice looked up and screamed to Lindsey. Lindsey looked up and saw the beast not too far away. She jumped up but tripped over the rat she killed. Alice shouted to Chris and Dan to go to the light and bring Ashley with them. Alice ran over to Lindsey. It was right next to Lindsey when Alice got there. She grabbed Lindsey’s arm and pulled her up. They both started to run together but it was catching up. The other three were already in the light. Lindsey and Alice almost made it, but it grabbed both of them, Lindsey by the leg, and Alice by the torso. They were so close to the light. Eventually Lindsey yelled and Dan decided to go for them, not even seeing them. He couldn't grab them both, he yelled for Chris. Chris sat Ashley down in the light and ran for the other three.

Dan and Chris struggled to pull their friends from the beast's grasp. It swung Chris off his arm with Alice and threw Alice toward the rock with Mike. He reached for his blade. Just as he swung at Lindsey, Dan was able to free her. It clipped her and hurt her but they were able to go to the light. Dan ran to Chris who looked dazed. He grabbed Chris and brought him to the light too. Chris struggled to get Dan to let him go but Dan was much stronger than him.

Chris wanted to go out and help her, but Dan just wouldn't let him. Dan knew by now she was probably already dead, and going in there now meant death for both of them. Right now, the four of them left had to make it out to the top and fast. He felt bad doing it, but Dan knew he had to use Alice as a distraction to get away.

Dan and Chris pick up Ashley who for the most part stopped bleeding. They had to rush up the hill with Lindsey leading the way in case she had to open a door or anything. This way she could tell the three of them what was ahead.

Chapter 16: an exit

It was dark all around them and they couldn't see too well. They could, however, hear the beast. They all knew he was coming their way, and didn't know if they would make it. They moved as quickly as they could while carrying Ashley.

At the top of a hill there was a ladder going up. The ladder led to a hole, but it did not shine any light in. They figured it must be dark outside around now. They finally reached it and Chris carried Ashley up the ladder first. It took a long time, but eventually they made it and saw they really were outside. They shouted for the other two to come, but it was a large ladder, and they could hear the beast nearing them. Lindsey went up the ladder first followed by Dan, who was desperately trying to hurry her. Just as Lindsey almost reached the top, it came and grabbed Dan and threw him to the ground. Lindsey had a choice to make, help Dan or save herself.

She hopped off the ladder and right onto the beast. It knocked it over and he fell kind of far away. They started up the ladder again but for some reason the top started closing. Chris starts trying to stop the boulder that starts coving the top but he is no match. It ends up just pushing him along with the rock. Dan and Lindsey cannot reach the top before the entrance close.

When it closes, Chris is stunned. Ryan sees Chris and what's left of Ashley on the top. He shouts for the fire truck. They lower Ashley without a problem, but Chris fights them every step down. He did not want to leave Dan or Lindsey behind, even though he knew there was nothing he could do. Steve asks what happened, and Chris and Ashley tell them. They don't know if they believed them, but they had Ashley for proof. Ashley is sent to the hospital. Chris goes in Ryan's truck with Steve. They hurry home to tell the unbelievable news to Michelle.

Chapter 17: not over yet

They get to Michelle's house and nobody is there. They go to Dan's and she's not there either. Her car is in neither house and neither is she. They go to Ryan's house, which is a few houses from Dan’s, and they call her cell phone. It takes a few rings but she picks up

"Hey, Michelle where are you? We have to tell you something it is urgent. We want to tell you in person though" Chris says.

"I followed where you went in the beach. I saw your car and I ended up just following your footprints to some cave. Where are you guys?" Michelle says.

"Are you in it?" He asks.

"Yeah why, I can't see you anywhere, are you deep in it?" They start to hear the boulder closing from the phone. They understand what is going on but she does not.

"Michelle, get out of there right away! The boulder is closing you are going to be trapped inside!" She is confused, but she didn't really want to be in the cave too much anyways. She heads for the exit but then notices it has nearly completely shut.

"Oh shit." she says

They tell her to continue straight until the choice of three directions in which case if a light is on turn left and if not turn right. She says the light is on and she listens. They tell her when she is in there to continue the way she is going and to look for Dan or Lindsey. She continues walking and does not see anyone. They tell her to watch out for a big hole when she goes in a new room, and it was just in time. She hears a guy and a girl yell her name. She turns to find it is Dan and Alice. She tells Chris over the phone.

"Wait Alice? She's there...alive?"

"Yes” she said, “want me to put her on the phone." The battery is low and is about to run out of power. She is able to tell him that she is ok and tell him her story of how she made it before the phone dies.

"I was trapped in the corner by this beast and all I had on me was Ashley’s arm He went to grab me so I pulled out her arm and made it so he grabbed that instead. I fled to where you guys were before with the beast right behind me. I saw you guys running toward the hill, but I figured I could distract the beast a little while staying in the light. Unfortunately I failed and it just continued up the hill with the rest of you. Then about ten minutes later, I see Dan, and he was as shocked to see me, as I was to see him. I thought you were all dead too until then."

Dan was going to tell Chris his story of survival, but the phone died. He gives the phone back to Michelle and decides to tell her instead.

"It was the beast, Lindsey and I. I was up trying to get the top open, and Lindsey was right below me. It grabs Lindsey and I jump on it like she did for me. Unfortunately, this time it did not have the same effect. He held on to Lindsey while I fell backwards, so it did not help. I ran as fast as I could into him, which freed her enough to run, and I was able to run too. We decided when we got to the turns to split up in case the lights turn off. They did turn off again, but she must have turned them back on because a few seconds after they were off, they went back on. She went down the hill toward the pit and I came here where I found Alice and eventually you. Lindsey is alive too, but we have to find her before we leave."

They start up the hill when Michelle is ready. When they get to the turns they hear something toward the hill direction but just turn toward where Lindsey should be. They find her at the very bottom. She is crying, which they imagine is probably for Mike, but when she sees Alice she jumps up and hugs her still crying. Alice tells her how she made it and Lindsey had another story for her.

"On my way down after me and Dan split up, I see the lights go out. I have no clue where the lights are, and I am freaked out. I get overwhelmed by everything that is going on and just collapse against the wall. Once I did that I hit the light, which I would have never even known was there."

Michelle goes over to the clothing that fell after hearing of that story too. She wondered where all the bodies were but she did not want to ask. She goes in all the pockets until she finds a cell phone. It is in Ashley's pants, and she calls Ryan's cell phone with it. He answers wondering why Ashley is calling him from the hospital, not knowing that the pants were still in the cave. Michelle tells him to get help for when they get on the roof of the cave, and that they are going soon. He tells her that they already did that, but everyone believes they are crazy. He said he is actually on the roof and the hole is open and told her to hurry up and that he'll call her if it closes or if the front opens again. Michelle tells the others this.

Chapter 18: one more try

They all imagined that there would be the beast at the top of the hill waiting for them. They all agreed on going all four at the same time, and that there would be no heroes, go up if you can, try to escape if you can't. When they get up there they see it. It stands in front of them. The four of them run straight at him knowing at least some of them will make it. When they get real close, though, they notice that it is standing right in front of the ladder. There is no way around it, and nobody can think of anything to do. Dan runs off telling the other three to wait there as long as he doesn't attack. A minute later he returns with a shirt and an arm, nobody knows what he has planned, but he throws the arm and the shirt at the beast and tells everyone to run fast. Michelle is leading, followed by Dan, then Alice, and then Lindsey.

When the beast realizes what is going on, he tosses the arm toward the four of them. It hits Michelle in the face and she almost falls and hits Dan who also stumbles a little, but Dan recovers well. He cannot move, though because Michelle is hanging upside down trying to right herself. He tries to help her but the beast is nearing them. Lindsey goes up the right side and tries to pass them, but the beast takes one swing and knocks all four of them off. The four of them sit there all stunned and hurt. It chooses one and picks the person up. The victim screams but it is hard to tell who it is because of how dark it is. They believe it is one of the girls because how the scream sounded though. The other three go up the ladder while the one trapped squirms and tries to get freed from his grasp. Dan is the first to the top and he makes it out. One of the others almost make it to the top of the ladder and Dan sees it is Alice, He helps her up too, but the other two are still down there. The beast takes the blade and kills the one in his hand. He tosses the dead girl to the ground with a loud bang. The other girl is going very slowly up the ladder. She does not want to fall because that is definite death. The beast is right by her and lifts his weapon. He swings at her and hits her; she is bleeding badly but is still going.

Dan can't take it anymore. He knows he must help whoever it is. Alice tries to stop him. She reminds him about no heroes but he cannot hear her. She grabs onto him and stops him from jumping in, but he is still reaching for the other girl. She grabs onto Dan's arms, Alice onto Dan's legs, and the beast on the girl's legs. It is a test of strength and the beast is winning. He takes his weapon out and starts to swing, but Dan lets go before she gets hit, and she falls to the floor

Firemen start going up the cave. They pick up Alice. They go up again for Dan but he is not there. He jumped in for the second girl and goes up the ladder carrying her with the beast there. The fireman looks in and sees this. Staring for a while he finally reaches down and grabs the girl's body and pulls her up. He sees a badly bleeding girl and places her on the top of the cave and goes for the guy. He reaches for Dan and Dan is lifted up. He is fine but almost gets hit by the furious attacks of the blade. He is holding an extra arm, which confused the fireman, but he did not ask, he would not dare to.

Chapter 19: the hospital

She awakes with most of her injuries healed. She was hurt from when she fell from the ladder, though she was lucky that it wasn’t much worse. She lies right next to Ashley. They share the same hospital room. She looks at Ashley. One of Ashley’s arms is still missing. They are going to place a prosthetic arm on. They say Ashley’s arm was detached for too long, and it was badly damaged too. It had cuts all around the arm. It wouldn't be able to be reattached

Ashley’s roommate gets up and looks around and then goes into the bathroom. She looks in the mirror. She has a cut across her head. She got it when she was falling off the ladder. It is one of the only injuries she still has. She is going to be released from the hospital today. She remembered her dream and the cut on her face and knew this is what it warned her about. It was over though, and she had made it.
