Chapter I: Background

This year’s Super Bowl is even more exciting than usual for football fans living in Connecticut. Two nearby football teams are playing each other in the Super Bowl. The Patriots have not lost a game yet while the Giants have been on an away game hot streak, winning ten straight.

James is hosting a Super Bowl party this year. As a huge football and Giants fan, he purchased a brand new HDTV for the event. He invited his girlfriend, Amanda, and six other friends to the party. He invites Amanda’s friends Brittany and Alicia, Alicia’s boyfriend Dave, James’s friends Alex and Greg, and Greg’s girlfriend Kelly. James bought the new TV from a new electronic store, that he had never heard of, the day before and hasn’t used the television yet.

Chapter II: Arriving

As his guests start to arrive, James turns on the TV and changes the channel to FOX. The pre-game show had already begun and the announcers talk about why they think the Patriots will win. Alex and James place a $50 bet on who will win. Alex is a life long Patriots fan and is sure they will win. The opposite is true for James.

The last guests, Greg and Kelly, arrive together minutes before kickoff. James’s little sister, Lauren, is also watching the game. The Giants win the toss and the game begins.

Chapter III: The Button

The screen on James’s TV is amazing. The remote for the TV, however, is confusing. James starts looking for the volume button after his sister Lauren asks him to turn the volume up. James hits a large button that points to the TV screen. The nine guests soon find themselves entering the Super Bowl.

Chapter IV: Getting Out

“What button did you press?” Alex asks. There is a button with an arrow pointing toward the TV screen, and a button with an arrow pointing away from the TV screen. James points the button with the arrow toward the TV. He assumes that pressing the other button will get them out and he tells the others what he believes.

“I want to get out.” Lauren says.

“Me too,” says Brittany, “I was only watching the Super Bowl for the commercials.”

“Yeah, I want to go too,” Alicia says.

James gives the three of them the remote and tells them that they can leave if they want to. Everyone else wanted to stay. They let the three take the remote and they press the button together. The three of them are taken out of the television and the remote follows them.

When they get back to James’s house Alicia says, “I wonder what else is on.”

Chapter V: The Super Bowl

Quarter one ends with the Giants up 3 to 0. The six people decide they want to go get some food. Alex, James, and Amanda go looking for food while Dave, Greg, and Kelly go looking for a place to sit. Greg plans to call James if he finds a spot with enough open seats.

Greg sees a spot that looks real good. There is a row that is completely empty. He calls James and tells him where it is. James tells them that the line is long and they may take awhile. He asks Amanda if she wants to go sit down and she does. He tells Greg that Amanda will be coming back.

James tells Amanda where the seats are and she tells James what she wants. She walks away looking for the seats.

Chapter VI: Two Knifes Are Better Than One

Brittany, Lauren, and Alicia start looking through the TV guide to try and find something else to watch. None of them really care much for football and only came for the party and the commercials. They want to find a long movie so they will not have to find anything else later on. Lauren spots a horror movie that she had always wanted to see.

“It’s called Two Knifes Are Better Than One,” She says, “I’ve seen commercials for that movie before and it looks pretty good. It’s about two killers, Joe and Andy, that work together to kill their victims.”

“Yeah, I’ve seen that before. It was good. I would watch it again.” Brittany says. “Lets watch that.”

They change the channel.

Chapter VII: Lost

Kelly, Dave, and Greg are still sitting in the seat but have not seen Amanda yet. They’ve been waiting for a while and are wondering if she had gotten lost. Greg takes out his cell phone and begins to dial James’s number, but then his surroundings change. The three of them are no longer at the Super Bowl. They are now standing in a dark ghostly neighborhood wondering what had just happened.

“Apparently Amanda’s not the only lost one.” Dave says.

Chapter IIX: The Call

James and Alex are also lost in the new surroundings. He gets a call from Greg and quickly picks it up.

“This may sound a little weird, but are you completely lost right now?” Greg asks.

“Yeah I am. Are you in an abandoned neighborhood as well?” James replies.

“Yes, the three of us are in some alley between two buildings. Where are you three?”

“Us three? Isn’t Amanda with you guys?”

“No, she never made it here. We all thought she must have just stayed there with you two.”

Chapter IX: Amanda

Amanda hit the bathroom before looking for her seats. When she got out, the surroundings changed. When they did she found herself trapped inside some rundown building.

She tries to exit by going down the stairs and out the front door. When she gets to the door, though, there is a short masked man, Andy, waiting for her. He is holding a large knife and blocking the exit. She turns around to run but behind her is a second man, Joe, waiting for her. Joe is holding a much smaller knife but he is significantly larger than the first. She believes that the he doesn’t even need that knife.

Joe grabs Amanda and brings her up the stairs and throws her on the ground. Andy stabs her in the leg and she begins to crawl away. Joe picks her up and throws her down the stairs. She falls all the way down, rolling until she hits the door at the bottom of the steps. Amanda was right; Joe didn’t need that knife to kill her.

“Don’t worry James, I’m sure she’s fine.” Greg says before he hangs up the cell phone.

“I hope so,” James says quietly enough so that Alex wouldn’t hear him.

Chapter X: Splitting Up

“Amanda isn’t with James and Alex,” Greg tells the others.

“We should split up and look for her. We can cover more ground that way.” Dave says. “She could be anywhere.”

Kelly leaves the alley and turns right. Greg decides to look left. Dave goes straight and goes toward the building right in front of him. He gets to the door but sees that someone is turning the doorknob. The door swings open and Dave sees James and Alex standing in front of him. “She’s not in there.” Alex says.

The three decide to try to regroup with Kelly and Greg. Dave tells them which way Kelly went and they run to try and catch up to her. She is too far away to see, but they know which direction she went.

Chapter XI: Greg

Greg looks around and sees buildings everywhere. Amanda could be inside any one of those buildings. He starts checking each of the buildings one at a time while calling out Amanda’s name. He looks back to where he came from and sees nobody there. He is all alone.

Chapter XII: Back Home

Brittany, Lauren, and Alicia were only half paying attention to the TV. Lauren is in the bathroom and Brittany and Alicia are talking with the TV in the background. They didn’t even notice their friends in the movie, or the two killers waiting for Kelly.

Chapter XIII: Kelly

Kelly is walking in the same direction she was before. She sees nothing around her except for one building. She decides she should check it out to see if that is where Amanda is.

She walks up to the building but hears something coming from where she came from. In the distance she can see a few shadowy figures. As they near closer they call out Kelly’s name and she can tell its James, Alex, and Dave. When the three of them catch up to her she asks, “Where’s Greg?”

“He went the other direction. Have you found Amanda?” Dave asks.

“No, I was about to check this building.” She replies.

Dave opens the door and looks at the ground. He screams at what he sees and then is stabbed through the chest. The two killers exit the building and James, Alex, and Kelly run away. Dave falls to the floor and sees Amanda’s corpse on the ground. Andy removes his knife and stabs Dave again, this time in his forehead. Joe picks up Dave’s body and throws him in the building. They walk inside and close the door.

Chapter XIV: Brittany

“What do we do? We need the remote to get out.” Kelly asks while still running.

“I know. I’ll try calling Brittany’s cell phone.” James says.

The three of them find an alley that they can rest at. They catch their breath and James calls Brittany. “We need the remote Brittany. We are trapped in here without it.” James tells her.

“Ok, I’ll be right there.” Brittany says before hanging up the phone. She grabs the remote and clicks the button. She enters the TV and is confused. She notices she is in a building and starts to look for an exit. She finds stairs that lead to a door. She walks down the stairs and sees two bodies: Dave’s and Amanda’s.

“Where am I?” she cries.

She turns around and sees Andy holding a knife.

“In Hell.” He says right before stabbing her. She falls to the floor and she continues to stab her. He takes the remote from her body.

He tells Joe that he will look for the others and gives Joe the remote. Joe presses the button and vanishes in front of Andy. Andy exits the house and walks in the direction that the other three went.

Chapter XV: Cell Phones

James, Alex, and Kelly call Brittany again but still get no answer. They decide they cannot wait for her any longer. Alex calls Greg and asks him where he is. He tells them that he has been searching for Amanda.

“Go to where you first entered.” Alex says. “Dave’s dead we need to get out of here.”

“Have you found Amanda yet?” Greg asks.

“No we haven’t but we have to go,” Alex says, but Greg hangs up after he heard the word no.

Alex calls Brittany’s number again and gets no answer.

“Maybe she’s still at the house.” Kelly says. Alex calls James’s house and gets the answering machine. Alex leaves a message saying they need the remote. “What is going on?” Alex asks.

Chapter XVI: James’s House

Joe used the remote and is now in James’s house. Lauren and Alicia are still there. Lauren is in the kitchen getting food and Alicia is coming out of the bathroom upstairs. Alicia hears the phone ring but cannot find the phone, but she does hear the message. She wonders where Brittany is since she knows that Brittany has already gone inside with the remote.

Joe drops the remote on the couch and sneaks into the kitchen. Lauren is looking at what is in the refrigerator. She turns around and screams as Joe grabs her throat. He lifts her off the ground and she tries to kick free. Eventually, her legs stop kicking and her arms and neck go limp. Joe throws her body on the ground and turns around. Alicia had seen everything. She runs to the couch. The killer chases after her. She picks up the remote and presses the button. She vanishes with the remote and Joe looks around. “She’s gone,” he says with both anger and disappointment. He is trapped outside the TV and doesn’t know where he is. He decides to wait for them to return.

Chapter XVII: Alicia

Alicia calls James and asks him where he is. “I am in an alley waiting for Greg. I am here with both Kelly and Alex.” James asks here where she is and she says she is in some building. She walks down the stairs and goes to walk outside, not noticing the bodies on the ground. She nearly trips over one of them until she notices that there are the in front of here. She screams.

“James, I found Brittany. She is dead along with Amanda and Dave.”

There is a long pause and James says he knows where she is.

“James, one of the killers got inside your house. He attacked Lauren. She’s dead too.” Alicia says.

James drops the phone on the ground and he falls to the floor.

“What happened?” Kelly asks.

“We got to go.” James says.

Chapter IIXX: Still Looking

Nobody called Greg. He was still looking for Amanda, but he ran out of places to look. He goes to where James told him to meet him but he isn’t there. He wonders what is holding James up.

Chapter IXX: Fight Back

James explains what happened to Alex and Kelly. They are going back to the house where Dave died.

While running toward the building, the three can see a figure in the distance. He is holding a knife. They see that it is Andy, and there is no way past him. Alex and Kelly stop running but James runs straight at him. He tackles Andy to the ground and Andy drops his knife. Kelly and Alex run over to try to help James. Before they reach him, though, Andy grabs his knife. James kicks the knife out of his hands and then he kicks Andy in the head. James scrambles over to the knife and grabs the knife. He stabs Andy in the chest repeatedly. Alex grabs James. “He’s dead.” James looks satisfied and the three of them continue their run.

Eventually they reach the building and see the three-body pile. They feel relieved not to see Alicia there as well. They call out her name, though, and get no response. They call her cell phone and she answers.

“Where are you?” James asks.

“I’m in the attic. I’ll be right down hold on.” Alicia says. She hangs up the phone and a minute later she joins the other three.

“Are you ready?” Alicia asks as she pulls out the remote. They all nod their heads and she hits the button. They exit the TV and are now back at James’s house.

Chapter XX: Power Off

The four start to look around but don’t see anything. Kelly goes upstairs, James goes into the basement, and Alex and Alicia go into the kitchen.

Alex and Alicia find neither Joe nor Lauren’s body. James screams and the two run downstairs to catch up to him. They find James and see that he found Lauren’s body. Alex signals James to go back upstairs.

“I’ll look down here if you want.” Alex says. James thanks him and Alex goes into the basement. Alicia goes into the kitchen to get James a glass of water and James follows her. The two of them hear Kelly scream from upstairs. They run to the living room and see Joe holding Kelly by the neck standing in front of the staircase. Kelly made a move to try and break free but is unsuccessful. He raises her higher and she gasps for air. James runs toward the stairs and Joe throws Kelly down the stairs. She rolls all the way down and stops right in front of James. Joe starts to walk down the stairs.

Alicia takes out the remote and asks James what to do.

“I don’t know. Try changing the channel.” James replies. “Maybe that will change what he is.”

Joe reaches the bottom of the stairs and kicks Kelly’s body out his way. He starts toward Alicia, who is distracted, and grabs her neck. He trips her and they both fall to the ground, him still holding onto her neck. She drops the remote and James runs over and picks it up. He looks for the channel button but cannot find it. There are too many buttons on the remote and he doesn’t know what each one does. He tries one button but it is the volume button. He can hear Alicia struggling for breath so he pushes the only button he knows, the power button. The screen shuts off and Joe disappears. Alicia coughs and begins to catch her breath. James checks Kelly but sees a pool of blood surrounding her. She is not breathing and he does not feel a pulse. She is dead.

Alex comes up from the basement and sees the two of them staring at him.

“Where were you?” James asks.

Chapter XXI: Power on

“I was in the basement looking for the killer.” Alex says.

“You couldn’t hear us screaming?” Alicia asks.

“No, why, have you found him?” Alex asks.

“Yes.” James replies. “He’s back in the TV.”

“Good.” Alex says. He looks down and sees Kelly on the ground. “Is she dead?”

“Yes, she was attacked, and before we could react, he killed her.” James says.

“I think we need to go back inside the TV.” Alicia says. Both Alex and James stare at her.

“Why would we do that?” Alex asks.

“Greg is still trapped inside, he might still be alive. We have to try.” Alicia says.

James turns on the TV. Greg is on the screen still waiting for James in that alley.

“So, what do we do?” James asks.

Chapter XXII: Decisions

The three of them can see Greg standing alone waiting for them. Alicia tries to convince James that they need to go back inside. Alex is trying to convince James that they can’t go back inside.

“It’s not right to go back inside.” Alex says. “Why should we risk three lives to possibly save one?”

“We can’t just let him stand there waiting to die. That’s not right.” Alicia says. “Greg would help us in the same situation.”

“I don’t think he would. I think he would be smart enough to know not to go back inside. What if that killer gets the remote again? Who knows how many he could kill if he got his hands on that again.” Alex says.

James wondered if Greg would help them. He then thought of a compromise to possibly save Greg.

Chapter XXIII: Idea

“Alicia and I will go back inside. Alex you stay here. If we make it in safely I will give you, Alicia, the remote and you leave. I will find Greg alone. If Greg and/or I make it back here safely, Alicia, come back inside and the three of us will leave. If at any point we lose the remote, or everyone inside gets killed, then you, Alex, destroy the TV.”

“No, I want to go with you,” Alicia says, “What if you run into that killer again? We could take him together.”

“We can’t take the risk of losing the remote again.” James says.

“We can still have Alex ready to destroy the TV in case he gets the remote. It cannot hurt for me to join you.”

“Yes it can. It is more likely that he gets out if he kills someone with the remote.” James says. “Alex was right. It’s not worth the risk.”

Chapter XXIV: Inside

Alicia was still not happy with the plan, but she has no other choice. She knows that the longer they wait, the less chance they have to rescue Greg. She agrees with the plan and tells James that she will follow it.

The two of them go back inside. They look around and don’t see Joe. James gives Alicia the remote and tells her to leave. She looks around one last time and decides she has no other options. She hits the button and is back at James’s house.

“Welcome back,” Alex says.

Chapter XXV: Time

James has to hurry. He has no idea where Joe is, but know that the longer it takes him to get to Greg, the greater the chance of finding him already dead.

He knows exactly where Greg is and James is going to try and get to him first. He goes down the stairs. The bodies that were there have since been moved. He leaves the building and turns right. He starts running as fast as he can.

Alicia can see James on the TV. She turns to Alex and stares at him. She has a plan.

“Alex, I need your help.” She says.

Chapter XXVI: Alley

James slows down to try to catch his breath. There is a long distance between where he started and to where Greg is. He looks around and recognizes some of the buildings. He knows he is close to Greg.

James continues and comes across the alley. He hears his name called out by Greg. He runs up and sees Greg sitting down.

“Where have you been James? And where is everyone else?” Greg asks.

“I’ll explain everything later. We have to go right now.” James tells him.

Greg stands up and gets ready to go.

“Where are we going anyways?”

“Just follow me.” James replies and starts running.

Just as he does, he hears Greg scream out James’s name. Joe had caught up with them and had tackled Greg to the ground. He was standing over him and started bashing Greg’s head on the ground. Greg’s head starts bleeding and Joe throws Greg against the wall of one of the buildings. He is not moving and is bleeding out everywhere. Joe turns toward James. James looks back at Greg and it appears like he is dead. He believed there is little chance for Greg even if he is still alive. James turns around to run but Joe is too fast. He grabs James and throws him on the ground. Alicia comes running and sees Joe on top of James. She runs into Joe and he falls over. She helps James up and they start running.

“You better not have the remote.” James says.

Chapter XXVII: Call

“No, don’t worry I don’t.” Alicia says. “Alex has it. I told him we would call him when we needed to get out.”

James and Alicia can see the building in the distance. James pulls out his cell phone and calls Alex.

“Alex, come inside now we need the remote.” James says.

“I can’t do that,” Alex says, “I can’t risk my own and other’s lives for just the two of yours. If you can kill or trap the killer, I’ll come back inside.”

“Alex! Come in here now! We have plenty of time. You are in no danger, but we have to do it now.” James shouts. James and Alicia reach the building. “Good luck.” Alex says before hanging up the phone.

Chapter IIXXX: Not Dead Yet

“What’s going on?” Alicia asks.

“Alex isn’t coming back unless we stop the killer first.” James replies. James kicks the door of the building and starts shouting at Alex to help them. He is hoping Alex will see this through the TV. He does see them. Alex picks up the remote and looks for the button he wants. He finds it near the bottom. He hits mute and no longer has to hear James’s screams.

“We can still fight back.” Alicia says. “We’re not dead yet.”

James looks at her and knows she is right. They search the building for anything they can use against Joe. Alicia locks the door just in case he comes when they don’t expect him. Alicia goes upstairs and looks around for anything she could use. James looks downstairs and finds more than he wanted to.

James looks around and finds the bodies of all his friends and Andy. The only bodies missing were Greg, Lauren, and Kelly. James was about to run upstairs but he remembers how he killed Andy. He checks his corpse and finds the knife still inserted into his chest.

He starts to walk upstairs but hear the doorknob start to wiggle. He calls for Alicia and James run all the way up the stairs. The two of them prepare for what they are about to face.

Joe kicks the door in and walks inside. He is holding Greg’s body but sees the intruders. He starts to walk up the stairs but neither James nor Alicia move.

Chapter IXXX: Fight

James is still holding the knife that he had found. Alicia was not able to find anything. Noticing this, James steps in front of Alicia.

Joe reaches the top of the stairs and James tries to stab him. He misses and Joe and James start fighting. James drops the knife. Alicia runs forward to help James. She picks up the knife that James had dropped. Joe punches James and he falls halfway down the stairs. Alicia stabs Joe in the shoulder, forcing him to back off. She aims the knife at him again but he grabs the knife. He throws the blade down the stairs and starts toward Alicia. She backs up until she hits the wall where she is now trapped. Joe pins her against the wall and grabs her neck, lifting her off the ground.

James stands up and looks around. He sees Joe lifting Alicia. He notices the knife on the ground next to him. He picks it up and runs up the stairs. He stabs Joe in the back causing Joe to drop Alicia. She tries to catch her breath while Joe is momentarily incapacitated. Joe grabs the knife out of his back and stabs James in the chest. Joe pulls the knife out of James’s chest and James falls backward. He rolls down the stairs and hits his neck on the door.

Alicia starts to get up but so does Joe. She tries to run away but there is no way out. He stabs her in the leg and she falls to the floor. She tries to crawl away but Joe is quicker. He walks above her still holding the knife. She stops moving and stares into Joe’s face. He slices her chest and she starts bleeding. She grabs her chest trying to control the blood. She kicks Joe in the face and he falls back. She lets go of her chest and sees the stairs are not too far away. She begins to crawl away again and reaches the stairs. She goes down one step but Joe catches up. Joe grabs Alicia’s hair lifting her head and slices her neck. She clenches her neck and rolls over. She gives one final look at Joe until the killer stabs her in the forehead. He picks up her body and places her downstairs with the others.

Chapter XXX: Alex

Alex watched the whole thing. He was hoping James and Alicia would survive, but he was not willing to put his own life at risk for theirs.

“I wonder.” He says. He takes the remote and looks at the different buttons. He changes the channel to FOX and sees that the Super Bowl is not yet over.

“Wow I can’t believe this.” Alex says. “The Giants are winning.”
