I have a background in professional stage management, working at such regional theatres as the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham, Colchester Rep, Liverpool Playhouse, Greenwich Theatre, Century Theatre, Keswick and Ipswich Theatre. I have also worked as a puppteer for Da Silva' s, touring theatres and schools as well as summer season for Pavlov's Puppets in Scarborough. I have developed a project for theatre and television, which utilised my own characters and stories, which has been presented to a number of television and theatre producers, but has, unfortunately, never been commissioned, but one has hope for this in the future, although the stories and characters could be developed as a cartoon strip or in animation.
I have also run my own puppet company, Carousel puppets, touring schools in the Home Counties. I have done a lot of television 'walk-on' and 'extra' work, appearing in such shows as EastEnders, The Bill, Lovejoy, Middlemarch, Keeping Up Appearances 'Allo 'Allo, Birds Of A Feather, Campion, Buccaneers, The Chief, Boon, Devices and Desires, and London's Burning.
More recently I have worked as a Support Worker for people with a variety of disabilites, for the N.H.S., Macintyre Care and a number of care agencies. In 2006 I had a heart attack, which meant I was forced to cut down on my work-load. I have been working on writing a novel, or what might be called a 'short story cycle' meaning the stories are linked together, but at present I haven't found a suitable format for these stories, which I will upload to this site. Currently editing and wordprocessing new material which will be uploaded onto Booksie soon.
In early November 2013 I did a one-day creative writing course at Milton Keynes Art Centre which has really sparked off a lot of new material. As a result I have signed up for a further 10-week course again at MK Arts Centre, so who knows what is likely to come out of that? Really looking forward to this. Certainly a good way to start 2014. So, look out for this writing up-loaded onto Booksie.
Unfortunately the above-mentioned creative writing course was cancelled, but I hope to be able to participate in another when and if one is set up in the not-too distant future.
I have a keen interest in most areas of the creative arts, particularly theatre, painting, classical music, history and literature. I love visiting National Trust properties, art galleries, museums and places of historical interest.
