A Short Story about what happens when there’s no...
Hello all!
My name is Shelby and I am sixteen years old. I love to read and write, especially poetry and short stories. I'm going into my junior year of high school and hope to major in Child Pyscology and minor in Creative Writing when I go to college. I know and am on friendly terms with many people but only have a few close friends. I'm also a convert to the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, aka, I'm a Mormon. :) I'm a convert of almost a year now and am very happy with it.
My dad, younger brother and sister are also members. I have a family of six, my dad, my stepmom, my older brother, who is eighteen now, my adopted sister who is ten and my little brother who will be seven very soon.
How did I get into writing?
I've always loved to write, I feel there's no better way to express yourself then through writing. When I was in sixth grade I met my best friend, and we started writing stories together. Later on in sixth grade we had a trimester dedicated to our poetry unit, which is how I got introduced into that. When I was in the eighth grade I was chosen by my school to represent it in our State Writers Festival, where I shared the personal narrative that my teachers chose for me to take. That was titled The Greatest Lesson I Ever Learned and it was discussing a great tragedy that happened in my life. I brought people to tears with what I had written, which hadn't really been my goal, my goal was, and is to this day, to use writing to help people through difficult times in their lives, times when they feel they are all alone and that no one could possibly understand. To reassure them they aren't alone, that someone does understand, and that even if it's bad right now life will get better. I want my writing to help people the same way it helped me.
A lot of the things I write have pretty intense subject matter, and isn't the easiest to read. In most situations, if you're looking for something happy go lucky my stuff isn't the best for that. Still, I think it can help. I have also a few poems that I wrote about faith, and even if you're not religious I think it's worth the read.
Anyway, I hope that you enjoy my writing and if you want to don't be afraid to contact me, I won't turn any comment or story away, I love to hear what people have to say, even if it's not always nice. Thanks! :)
