I'm Not a Martyr

Poetry By: Coralie
Song lyrics

Just a song I wrote a few days ago. Currently working on the guitar part, I'm definitely thinking this would make a good acoustic song.

I'm a thousand years old
But I feel so young
my eyes have seen most
Since the dead man
was hung
I've seen women
cry in pain
and people
forsake their names
in vain
But once you have lived
for so long on Earth
you learn how to live
your life without worth

I'm not a saint
I'm not a martyr,
please don't send
me to the slaughter

It's hard to watch
a young man die
although you've known
it all your lives
There's never a dull moment
down here in hell,
and if you must know,
I'm doing quite well.

I'm not a saint
and I'm not a martyr
please don't send
me to the slaughter
I'm not the only one
who can see
the faults and sins
that have been placed
all upon me

So best you learn
to keep your thoughts
to yourself
because someday
they could kill
someone else
For I have feared
and I have cried
Bits and pieces of
my heart, my mind
have died

No I'm not a saint,
I'm not a martyr,
please don't send me
to the slaughter

I'm a thousand years old
but I feel so young
My eyes have seen much
Since I was hung.
