Grandpa's Tale

Poetry By: GFJones
Song lyrics

After spending an afternoon playing with my one year old grandson, this song sort of wrote itself.

The MP3 is purely a demo for copyrighting purposes. My vocal skills are limited from lack of use. The guitar, lead guitar and string bass are me as well, all recorded in my home studio.

Grandpa's Tale
GFJones 2009
Finger pick country blues style in C
Now listen close my children
To the story I will tell
Ole granddad's getting older
So ya'd better listen well.
This life's a long and dusty road
Some trouble along the way
Beauty in the things we touch
And the race to make our pay
In all give love, stand up, be strong
Don't listen to the voices that say that's wrong.
Don't take anything that don't belong
And stand up for your brother.
Love your family with all your might
Don't worry bout the things that ain't in sight
Teach your little babies how to give love right
And just love one another.
The autumn leaves begin to blow
the chill is in the air
Father time don't wait for no one
So you just better take care
Don't forget to laugh and love
And to sing and dance around
'Specially when the times are tough
Just make a joyful sound.
Repeat chorus
Guitar solo one verse
Repeat chorus and add repeated lines:
Teach your little babies how to give love right
And just love one another.
