Don’t You Wish Upon That Star
You’ve got your arms
Wrapped around yourself
Trying to hold yourself together
But there’s no point in fighting
Against the pain that’s
Building up
It’s overflowing
And you can stop your crying
But the tears hide behind your eyes
And you can deafen out your screaming
But inside you’re still
Begging pleading
There’s no point in down playing
Everything
And don’t you wish upon that star
Because that’s going a bit too far
It’s bad enough while you are hoping
For something that’ll never happen
You can carry on with the dreams
But remember what is real
You’re trying to hide your pain
With a smile
From the ones who
Love you most
‘Cause when you suffer
They do too
But they can distinguish
What is and isn’t true
And you can hide it on the outside
But inside it still hurts
And you can try whatever
But do you really think it’ll work?
It’s a worthless effort
You’re hurting us more than you would
If you told all
It hurts to watch you as you pray
To something above
That you think will help
You can’t really believe it’s true
We don’t but we’re praying with you
To whom are we begging?
I don’t think its working
But we carry on
Desperate for what’s out of reach
And don’t you wish upon that star
Because that’s going a bit too far
It’s bad enough while you are hoping

Don’t you wish upon that star
I’ve tried it before
And it won’t get you far
