So Much Senselessness

Poetry By: ShaunaLeigh
Song lyrics

For PumpkinSpice57 's challenge. I'm meant to make her cry by writing a poem inspired by Taylor Swift's song Teardrops On My Guitar.

The white of the corridor is so harsh
The tears I cry aren't bitter
But don't I have a right?
When all I want is taken
My world is shattered like the CD's
That lay broken on the floor
I forgot to pick them
Always so caught up
When suffering a broken heart
How many times have I told you?
Seems like a lifetime
Why was I born to love you?
When no love is given back
The chances were ten million to one
That you were destined to be mine
Smiling like the brightest sun
Beaming out of reach
Laughing in unison
But feels like you're laughing at me
You were always meant to be with her
It makes so much sense yet no sense at all
Sleep should be mine
But every night it's stolen
Dreams of you and me
And what we could have had
Is it really fair I give so much?
And get nothing in return
Just your presence
And as amazing as it is
All I want is you to hold
To kiss
To touch
To keep
It's so clear to everyone
But the one who matters
The one who it concerns
The look in my eyes is one to behold
I've seen it many times in yours
But always when looking at her
Still it's not enough to know you're happy
Don't you see that I'm the one that loves you?
More than anyone else can or will
I guess I'm to blame
I hide behind a smile
It's so easy just to lose myself
In everything that's you and I
I hang on every word you say
Search for hidden meanings
But you always tell me straight
How much that you love her
I guess this has gone too far
Gone on for too long
I never thought it was unhealthy
To pretend that you could be with me
How many times have I told you?
Seems like an eternity
Why was I born to love you?
And why don't you love me?
The chances were ten million to one
That "you" would come before "and I"
Smiling like the brightest sun
Dancing at the corner of my eye
Laughing in unison
Don't you hear my heartbreak?
You were always meant to be with her
It makes so much sense yet no sense at all
It was all there
Us both together
Written down somewhere
But you always were independent
Every "I love you"
Casual yet savoured
Friendship is what you want
But what about what I have left?
There is no other that can take your place
I'll just hold on to this
And wait until the day
There'll be no hard feelings
My all is yours to take
Is there someone out there?
Who suffered like I did and lived?
Or got their happy ending
When he came to his senses
Am I running down an endless road?
Falling and never touching ground
The teardrops glisten and seem to cry
There can't be a me
Without you and I
How many times have I told you?
But quiet as can be
Why was I born to love you?
You don't love me enough to be in it truly
The chances were ten million to one
The one will try not to cry
And so will ten million
If they each have a heart
Smiling like the brightest sun
It gets to me every time
Laughing in unison
Am I the only one who must fall?
You were always meant to be with her
It makes so much sense yet no sense at all
