Her Greatest Secret
by Shea Ryhai © 2010
You're walking down the path,
the one that leads you home.
And burning in your eyes,
are tears you've never shown.
You're greeted by the memories,
of everyday you felt alone.
But now everything is different,
and all because you've grown.
Gripping tight your pale mask,
afraid your heart will burst.
Thinking back on all the good days,
and remembering your worst.
And laying there on the table,
as dead as dead can be.
Is the man you always knew,
as your childhood enemy.
Surrounded now by flowers,
and covered up in tears.
No one else could see the monster,
the source of all your fears.
Their calling him a Father,
a loyal husband too.
And you're laughing in the inside,
because these words were never true.
Standing at his gravestone
as the crowds of friends all leave.
You're turning cold in anger,
at how easy they're deceived.
They never saw the bruises
or those nights you couldn't sleep.
Even though the monsters dead now
somehow you're still afraid to weep.
Because this is your greatest secret,
the one you can't let go...
As you say good bye forever,
and pray no one will ever know....

And no one every knew... R.I.P"
