Hello everybody and welcome back. It seems like it's been a long time since I last did a Shane's Picks? Probably not, just me thinking that. Anyway, yesterday the WWE held their 5th annual TLC PPV. I both loved and hated the PPV, but I will have a rant that I release soon about TLC, and just stick to the Predictions, Results & Ratings.
In this one night, the industry would change forever. John Cena, The World Heavyweight Champion faced off against The WWE Champion, Randy Orton in a Tables, Ladders & Chairs match to determine the first ever champion. It was called many names, "The Champion of Champions, The Unified WWE Championship" but ultimately it has become known as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Who won? Find out below.
One thing I would like to point out is that on the TLC Pre-Show panel, Mick Foley, Josh Matthews, Booker T & The Miz were doing their thing, and The Miz was talking trash about Kofi Kingston. Kofi came out, and slapped him across the face, leading them into a brawl. Later that night it was announced that they would face off in a No Disqualification match.
Here we go then:
Pre-Show: Dolph Ziggler VS Fandango
In a match put together to showcase the talents of these in-ring performers, it would be the Show-Off Dolph Ziggler and Fandango, alongside Summer Rae.
Prediction: Dolph Ziggler
Since I haven't seen much of Fandango lately, I would assume that Ziggler would pick up the victory, and to me, he is the superior superstar.
They are both at the top turnbuckle. Fandango throws Ziggler down and hits his Leg Drop for the victory.
The match was thrown together by my perspective, and I personally don't think either superstar gave it their all. It was lack luster in my eyes.
Now we move on to the actual PPV.
CM Punk VS Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns (The Shield)
So for storyline purposes, Kane is now (not actually) the WWE Director Of Operations. He announced two matches that would take place at the TLC PPV. One of these matches was CM Punk VS The Shield. The Shield outnumber CM Punk, but Punk said that he know's he's walking in to a losing battle, and the question is how many he is going to take down with him.
Prediction: CM Punk
I predicted CM Punk because there is a bit of tension between The Shield, and it has been teased both online and on WWE Programming that The Shield may be a ticking time bomb. And who is the master of bombs? Mr Pipe Bomb himself, CM Punk.
Result: CM Punk
The match didn't go down as I expected. The Shield hit each other a few times, but only by CM Punk causing them to or moving out of the way. At the end of the match, CM Punk went for the Go To Sleep (GTS) on Ambrose, but Seth came in, and Punk dropped Ambrose and picked up Rollins, hitting him with a GTS. Then he went back to Ambrose, but Roman Reigns came charging at him. Punk moved out of the way and Reigns hit Ambrose with his massive spear. Punk threw Reigns out of the ring and pinned Ambrose for the victory.
This match had me on the edge of my seat. I rooted for Punk, and the match was intense.
WWE Divas Championship: Natalya VS AJ Lee (c) w/Tamina Snuka
Natalya has had a few victories over AJ recently, and seems to be one of the only girls who hasn't had a title shot against the "Crazy Chick" for the gold. So the stage was set, and Natalya came out to her first championship opportunity match-up in 3 years. AJ Lee skipped to the ring with that glimmer of evil in her eyes.
I thought that finally AJ Lee may lose her championship to someone that has the skillset of Natalya.
Result: AJ Lee
AJ locked in the Black Widow submission. Natalya managed to get out of it. Tamina came up to the ring, and Natalya charged at her, knocking her down. Then Natalya went for the Sharpshooter, but AJ Lee grabbed a tuft of Natalya's hair, and pulled her down into a roll-up pin for the win.
Not a great match, but not a bad one either.
Intercontinental Championship: Big E Langston (c) VS Damien Sandow
Big E would take on the Intellectual saviour of the masses in a battle to determine the new Intercontinental Champion.
Prediction: Big E Langston
He is a powerhouse, and he just won the title.
Result: Big E Langston
Finishes the match with a Big Ending.
The match wasn't bad, but it wasn't all that good. There were some high points, but overall the match wasn't that attractive.
WWE Tag Team Championships Fatal-4-Way Elimination Match: Cody Rhodes & Goldust (c) (The Rhodes) VS Jack Swagger & Antonio Cesaro (The Real Americans) w/Zeb Coulter VS Big Show & Rey Mysterio VS Curtis Axel & Ryback (Rybaxel)
4 of the WWE's top teams faced off in an team elimination Fatal-4-way match up.
Prediction: Cody Rhodes & Goldust
They haven't had the titles long enough, and don't count either one of them out.
Result: Cody Rhodes & Goldust, last eliminating Big Show & Rey Mysterio.
Fantastic match with fantastic high spots and sportmanship from everybody except for Ryback, who attacked Goldust after being eliminated.
Brodus Clay w/Funkadactyls & Sweet T (Tensai) VS R-Truth w/Xavier Woods
When Xavier Woods debuted in WWE, he used Brodus Clay's entry and the Funkadactyls, and Brodus, thinking that Xavier was better than him attacked him after they had a match the following week. R-Truth is Xavier's mentor, and came to his aid.
I thought that R-Truth would be put over because Xavier is only starting out.
Brodus got mad at the Funkadactyls & Sweet T and they left. Off the distraction, R-Truth capitalized, and won.
A very lame match. Hated it. I will explain more in my rant.
No Disqualification: Kofi Kingston VS The Miz
They had been fighting for weeks, but Miz talked trash about Kofi while on the TLC Pre-Show panel, and they got into a brawl, setting up for this match.
Prediction: Kofi Kingston
Miz has had quiet a bit of payback already, so I feel like Kofi would get some revenge.
Result: Kofi Kingston
Kofi win's with the help of an exposed turnbuckle that Miz exposed.
I almost put this match as an A rating. It was terrific. I was glued to my seat watching the carnage take place.`
Daniel Bryan VS Luke Harper, Erick Rowan & Bray Wyatt (The Wyatt Family)
The other match made by Kane, Daniel Bryan has been abducted, abused and taunted by The Wyatt Family in the hopes that he may join them.
Prediction: The Wyatt Family
The Wyatt Family are just getting in to the swing of things in the WWE, and I could not see them losing the match. However, I don't think Bryan will join the family.
Result: The Wyatt Family
They dominated the whole match. Towards the end, Bryan gained a bit of momentum, and almost picked up the victory. Wyatt used all his strength to counter Bryan, and punched him in the head until he didn't move. He then picked him up, kissed him on the forehead and hit the Sister Abigail on him for the win. He cuddled Bryan lifeless. Creepy sight.
Tables Ladders & Chairs Match
WWE World Heavyweight Champion
John Cena VS Randy Orton
50 years leading to this moment. Two similar paths. One victor. Who would win, the World Heavyweight Champion John Cena, or the WWE Champion Randy Orton?
Prediction: John Cena
years cumlinates including John Cena, isn't it obvious he should
be the one who wins?
Result: Randy Orton
Randy Orton locks Cena to the ropes, and when Cena finally gets out, Randy throws him off the ladder by the ropes and into a table (though not breaking it) and then climbs up the ladder and slowly takes off the placeholder that has the 2 Championship's on it.
The match wasn't nearly as good as I thought it was going to be. At the start, it was fast-paced and interesting, but quickly grew stale and tiring. There weren't near as many table crashes or ladder uses as their are usually. Sad way to end the two Championships being separate if you ask me.
That concludes the TLC PPV. What was your favourite match? Mine was either the CM Punk VS The Shield match or Kofi Kingston VS The Miz.
