The economic avalanche of the past few years has forced many people to reconsider traditional holiday destinations. Eastern Europe, for example, is now gaining increasing popularity as a popular holiday destination for visiting skiers, frankly due to cheap booze and accommodation prices.

However, let's not forget the Swiss Alps, let alone Switzerland itself, the Mecca of all skiing destinations. Of all the multitude of skiing destinations in Switzerland, one should definitely not be ignored.

Saas Fee in a municipality, or collection of small villages nestled at the feet of the lofty Swiss Alps. Landmarks such as the glaciers Dom and Allalinhorn are household names among skiing enthusiasts. Saas Fee is in easy distance of these popular winter sports locations and hosts countless visitors to indulge in activities such as snowboarding, mountaineering, orienteering and, of course, skiing, on an almost permanent basis.

If you're not a hardened mountaineer or seasoned skier, you'll be pleased to know that easy access to all of the popular spots on the mountain are available via cable car. Rest assured, your safety is paramount to the local Swiss mountain guard and the glaciers and their visitors are monitored with almost 24 hour surveillance. This makes Skiing in Saas Fee a peaceful experience, knowing that you're always being kept under a close eye, unlike many of the destinations in Eastern Europe.

As for the town itself, Saas Fee and chalets Saas Fee are easily accessible via car or public transport, from the neighboring towns of Visp and Brig. You might even be surprised with the peacefulness of the resort; no cars have been allowed to enter since the 50s. If skiing isn't really your thing, or you just want to chill out, the resort offers indoor sports complexes, bars and a nightclub, plus the revolving restaurant with the highest altitude in the world.
