Melissa Cardoza met Nicholas Willis at a nightclub in LA. The night they met, they partied together until the morning, when they exchanged phone numbers and left. They started dating shortly after. After a while however, things didn't work out so well. They had to keep their relationship secret because the media and the newspapers were constantly following Nicholas around.
About three months into their relationship, Melissa realized she was pregnant. She was afraid to tell Nicholas for a while, worried that he might dump her. Finally, she couldn't keep it all to herself anymore and told him. He was shocked, but he told her that it was okay and that they could make it work.
One day, Melissa and Nicholas got into a fight and it escalated quickly. Finally Nicholas told Melissa to leave the house and never to come back. She did leave that night, but dismissed what happened as just a fight. She returned to the house a couple days later to try and make up. Nicholas proceeded in telling her that their relationship would not work and she was on her own.
Melissa then moved north of LA and bought a small apartment that she could live in with her new baby. She told herself that she would be a good mother to her child, and her child would grow up happy and healthy.
