Tiger Woods, a person who set examples today is at the lowest he can be, but he didn't start out like that. Like any other person, his mom gave birth to him, but not just anywhere he was born in California December 30, 1975. His name originally was Eldrick Tont Woods. His dad was an African American Army officer and his mother was a Thai meaning that she was a descendant of Thailand. He got the nickname Tiger from his dad. He called him Tiger in honor of a soldier who saved his life during a Vietnam conflict and friend who had the same moniker or nickname.
Tiger Woods then began to play golf. His parents never pressured him into playing golf; he was simply driven by it. He started playing about the age of three or four when he saw his father Earl playing golf in the backyard. Tiger became so good at his game because he practiced. About the age of eight, he was invited to shows in order to show off his skills.
Afterwards, went to Stanford University. He spent two years in Stanford University studying economics. There he won a number of amateur U.S. golf titles before turning professional in 1996. In 1995, he was named Stanford's Male Freshman of the Year for all categories in sports. He was the first African American and also the youngest to accomplish this feat.
Then he went to a British Open later that same year in 1997. During that play he tied the course record of 64. Throughout the next couple years he brought more and more successes. He got four PGA titles, three US Open wins, three open championship wins, and three U.S. Master Wins.
In the year of 2003, Tiger Woods had five wins and among these wins there were the Buick Invitational. There also was the Western Open. The following year Tiger Woods only won one official PGA Tour Championship. Everything was running smoothly in his life.
Afterwards Tiger got engaged to Elin Nordegren, a Swedish model. She had been a longtime girlfriend to Tiger Woods. Soon, they got married in October in 2004. During that period of his life his personal life was okay and everything was in order.
Anyway, coming back to Tiger Woods skill and talent to play golf, he won six championships in 2005. He was also voted the PGA Tour Player of the Year for the seventh time in nine years. Tiger Woods was a person who played golf well and enjoyed his game. He reached the top and nothing would bring him down.
Although you must never speak too early because in May 2006 his father died after battling prostate cancer. In his website he wrote that his dad was his best friend and the greatest role model he had. Even though that he experienced a great personal loss he continued playing golf. He won a couple events and that included the PGA championship. Not only that, but he also won the British Open.
The following season his wife gave birth to a first child. They had a daughter which they named Sam Alexis Woods. She was born in June 18, 2007. Tiger Woods took some time off to welcome his daughter and when he returned back to playing golf, he won the World Golf Championship.
Woods each year won more and more honors or championships. Then in June 16 2008, he won the U.S. Open. Then he played in a different competition and was so close to losing, but at the same time he was so close to breaking an all time record held by Jack Nicklaus.
Two days after this competition Tiger Woods announced that he would miss the rest of the season because his left knee required some more reconstructive surgery. He also revealed he suffered a double stress fracture in his left tibia two weeks before the U.S. Open tournament, ignoring doctors' advice to take six weeks off to let it heal. Boy, he had now done the greatest mistake, not following the doctor's request's or advice.
Soon Woods and his wife Elin announced that another child was on the way. They were expecting that child in the late winter. While Tiger Woods took time off from golf he watched his daughter grow. In February 8, 2009 they welcomed a baby boy named Charlie Axel Woods. They both were thrilled to have another child.
Weeks later, on February 25, 2009, Tiger Woods returned to the Accenture Match Play Championship that would take place in Tucson, Arizona. Woods then competed against a golfer named Tim Clark and lost 4 to 2. In the Month of June, 2009 competed in the U.S. Open. After putting a four -over-par in the first round, Tiger Woods quickly fell out of contention to win.
Woods didn't show a good comeback, but he still remained No. 1 in the Official World Golf Rankings. He continued to be the leader in the top 10 finishes. When he lost the PGA title to Yang Yongeun, Woods finished the year without a single mayor win. The first time he had done so since 2004.
His personal life was even more serious than you can ever think possible of. In November 2009, reports said that there was a tryst between Tiger Woods and a nightclub manager Rachel Uchitel. When reporters asked questions they both denied that they had a relationship, despite of the photographic evidence.
In November 27, this story gained more and more attention. Media outlets announced that Woods had collided into a fire hydrant outside his home at 2:30 in the morning. Reports said that Woods' wife, Elin had broken the back window of Tigers' SUV because she had to get him out of there because he was locked in the car. His injuries were not serious, and soon he was released.
People had many suspicions about this accident including fans. Tiger Woods became silent about this matter. Then he mysteriously dropped out of his charity tournament. Later, he announced that he wouldn't be attending any other tournaments in 2009.
Silence grew in Woods and also in the reporters. On December 2, 2009, Woods offered an apology to his fans and family. Tiger Woods had issues he needed to resolve. Later, Elin was spotted without her wedding ring. People grew curious about this. They asked questions that included, are they getting a divorce and if they are why?
On December 11, 2009, Woods again apologized to his fans about what he had done. Soon, he announced that he would be taking a hiatus from golf because he was to tend his family. Days later, he lost an endorsement deal with management company Accenture. Then weeks later Gatorade also dumped Tiger Woods.
As you can see, Tiger Woods had a incredible life that he reached the top of, but as you are currently seeing even Tiger Woods can fall from the top. Although he still has a whole life ahead of him. His life is worth sharing and if you ask me he still can reach the top. Don't you think so?
