This is a revised version of a poem I wrote for my creative writing class. It was my teacher's favorite poem of mine, and I would have to agree.
I wrote it has a brief, slightly romanticized reflection on the uneventfulness of my dreams over my lifetime.

I wrote this poem out of anger and shame of what many monsters, I won't be saying people, because human beings are not so cruel & cold, about what some monsters can do to make you feel sadness in between your loneliness and depression.

The last line was a quote by an ivory collector in an article I read in National Geographic magazine about ivory poaching. He had a tusk carved into an image of the crucifixion among his collection. The article effected me.
