The language in the poem reflects this as well as having many deeper meanings on every line.
It reflects peoples minds when they are in love, or unsure that they are in love; thoughts racing, nothing much making sense.
The animals used in the poem...
a depressed loved one..... nothing stirs, they are gone from your eyes, replaced by something you do not recognise. so you try through love to rescue them, with your unrelenting love and understanding. It takes its toll however.
