Your Inner Child May Be Suffering On A Crucifix

By Patricia Mcgurk Martin  (booksie.com)

I address the theme of Unknown Suffering in my poem. We are often oblivious of the painful periods or episodes of violence in our lives - and block them so that we do not remember. As a result, we can inadvertently or unknowingly leave our Inner Child in the Hatred Home suffering. Remembering...

Deathly Air

By Patricia Mcgurk Martin  (booksie.com)

As a child, I was an old woman in an oldening country that was aging fast like mercury in my fingers – solidifying before I was ready. The mercury was deathly, they told me that my father had told me to play with the mercury balls I was forming and it was Killing Me. The country is the...

I Was Not A Child

By Patricia Mcgurk Martin  (booksie.com)

I was not a child, but I was a child in the early betrayals when I was never allowed to speak as a child. My poem tackles the subject of violence against children that lasts throughout the woman's life - it never ends.

Velvet Glove

By Junegem  (booksie.com)

I wrote this poem a long time ago. It is quite dark, but hopefully it will reach someone in a similar place and help them through.

Trix Are For Kids

By Kiosan  (booksie.com)

Such a cliché. A creep from the shadows, beating a beautiful girl with a drinking problem untill she could not even think about fighting back, just so that he could...well, 'do the deed'. And a superior and powerful anti-social hero just so happens to calmly come across this demented scene....

Death Of Empire

By Pgordon  (booksie.com)

Moonless night Darkness hides fait In the black sky Iron falling Propeller turning An era about to end On a hilltop a palace A sacred temple to wealth and excess Wealth for some whilst most are starving Turning wheels and toil Beaten and repressed So the king sits upon his golden throne Air...

Climate Change

By Tommottram  (booksie.com)

Contains explicit language. My views on this 'Climate Change' nonsense, really.

Free Tibet

By Matthew Smith  (booksie.com)

This poem takes the form of many voices, some from within Tibet, some of my own, who are simply screaming for freedom. Each stanza represents one of these voices. It must also be noted that Tibet is a Buddhist country and so the sentiments are a representation of Buddhist belief.

By Annie Legend  (booksie.com)

'Detention' reflects the feelings of a person who seeks refuge in another's country to escape horror in the place of their birth only to find further repression at the hands of a 'friendly' government.
