The shadows are closing in around me. Every direction looks the same I have nowhere to turn and nowhere to run. I feel eyes watching me studying my every move. My breath becomes faint I can barely stand that’s when I collapse into the pile of leaves. I’m still alive, but I can’t feel my body. I try to move my arm but it is limp and heavy. I eventually give up and just lay waiting for death to show its face and end me from this misery but it never does….

I wake up in a white room and see all these machines around me making weird beeping sounds. I glance down to see my chest in wrapped in a bandage and so are my arms. I go to say something but my voice is croaky and my eyes are still heavy so I fall back into a deep sleep. I didn’t know where I was or why I was there I couldn’t remember a thing of what had happened before waking up in this strange place. For now I rest.

I awake later and begin struggling trying to escape; all those machines began beeping louder. I look down to see that my stomach was covered in circler things that were attached to machines I began violently ripping them off. They tore at my skin, leaving big red patchy spots on me and I was about to tear off the last few someone grabbed my arm. I pulled it back but the person did not let go. I slowly turned my head to see, a man dressed in a white uniform. His hair was as black as midnight, his skin was neon white but warm like a wolf and his eyes were cobalt blue and I was hypnotized by them.

I drop my arms and my defense was finished, he was staring deep into my eyes as if he was looking into my soul. He broke the awkward moment with a quirky smile. He soon started explaining to me that I was in the hospital and that I was here because a local resident had found me unconscious in the woods. He asked me if I could tell him anything from before waking up here in the hospital, but I couldn’t say a thing. I didn’t know who I was; I couldn’t even remember my own name.

He told me to close my eyes and try and remember back, try to remember who I was. His voice was soothing and I slowly began having pictures, visions of my past run through my head. I saw myself I was playing in the park with a younger girl my sister I think and a saw a woman my mother she was watching us I remembered feeling really happy then suddenly my emotions changed and I felt trapped and scared my vision jumped to one of watching a my mother get stabbed repeatedly. I was in hiding in the cupboard holding who i think is my sister. Then the vision jumped and everything was dark. I couldn’t see a thing but I could hear what sounded like someone crying……. I then opened my eyes and I was back in the white room again and the hot male doctor standing beside me.

He asked me what I saw but I was speechless so he grabbed a pen and paper encouraging me to write. I grabbed the pen and I couldn’t control my hand, everything that I had seen was now on being jolted down on paper before I could even think about it. My heart began racing and I started to hyperventilate. The doctor put one hand over my hand to discontinue me from writing and placed the other hand on my stomach and told me to take a breath, just breathe just breathe he continued repeating until my breathing slowed right down to a steady pace.

Just as I had calmed down I glanced up at his name tag, it read “Jesse Matthews, Doctor at Princess Jade Hospital.” The name suited as it was cute just like him. I don’t think he was any older than 23, 24. He left the room for a second and I started thinking about those memories I’d just seen replay through my head as if it was really happening. I felt the pain and the emotions that I felt when I was there. I was still dazing when Jesse re-entered the room with a trolley of food. There was a plate of Diane steak with Roast Vegetables and on the side there was a warm toasted roll and a glass of orange juice.

I couldn’t remember the last time I had eaten but I think it had been more than a day as my stomach was growling. I grabbed the knife and fork and began tearing at the steak. It was mouth-watering and the sauce was to die for. I threw down the knife and fork and grabbed at the hot toasted roll that had butter melted through it and took a savoury bite. It got caught in my throat so I quickly grabbed the glass of orange juice and took a big mouthful. It was really cold but so delicious as if it had been handmade.

I looked up and I saw that Jesse was still watching me, I felt incredibly self-conscious and my face enflamed with a dark shade of crimson. I put the last bits of the warm roll down and looked over at Jesse who was staring at me with an amused expression.                                                                                   “Don’t stop on my behalf” he said with a cheeky grin. I rolled my eyes at him and I began eating the roast potato.                                                                                                                                                               “Would you like some dessert with that?’ he questioned. I smiled as I nodded my head saying yes. I was unsure of whether or not he was just messing around with me or not. He left the room and came back in with a bowl of ice cream covered in maple syrup and topped with pieces of sliced banana, apple and pear.

If I wasn’t so hungry at that moment maybe I would’ve questioned what kind of hospital has Diane Steak and Roast Veggies with ice cream for dessert, but I didn’t and I let it go as I took a bite of the delicious Maple covered ice cream, I then sunk into the soft mattress resting my head on the pillow and I slowly drifted off to sleep.

My dreams seemed so real. I was back in that dark room and I could still hear the faint cry of someone else. I tried to get up and I attempted to move my arms but something was holding me down. I couldn’t see a thing, there was something in my mouth gaging me. I awoke suddenly feeling like I was choking. I gasped trying to get my breath back. Jesse came running into the room asking me if I was ok, he grabbed my wrist to feel my pulse to see how fast it was.                                                  “Your heart is racing. What happened?” Jesse curiously questioned.

As my breathe slowly returned to me, I explained to him about my dreams and how I thought it was  something to do with my past, he had a worried look on his face and he hurried out of the room. He returned with two large purple pills and a glass of water. He told me they were to relieve me of any headaches I might get and would slow my heart.

I took the tablets and swallowed them with a big gulp. The aftertaste was horrible yet I choose not to say anything. He left the room and I just laid in bed looking out the window. It had started to rain and I was watching the rain drops drip one by one. The rain reminded me of something. I could feel my breath weaken and everything was a blur. I was in the woods running, it was rained hard and the driblets stung. I could feel a pain in my stomach I moved my hand, there was a deep cut in my stomach from where I think I was stabbed with a knife. The rain hit my hand turning the blood all watery and eventually washed it from my hand. There was a cut on the left side of my head. I was still running when I tripped…

“Are you ok miss?” questioned a female nurse. Who had stumbled into the room at the sound of my panting? I replied that I was fine and that I was just day dreaming.                                                                    “Ahh, are you the one suffering with amnesia?” the nurse questioned.                                                          Sarcastically I replied by saying “I don’t know I can’t remember.” We both laughed, but then her pager went off and she hurried out of the room but before she left she had said that she was glad that there was finally a comedian in the hospital. I smiled as she left.

I must have dozed off because when Jesse came in later, the luminescent moon was already up and shinning in through my blinds, making patterns on my bedspread. Jesse brought my over a tray with a glass of water and three different colored tablets. When I asked what they were he just said that they were vitamin tablets and I was to take six a day. Three in the morning and three at night.

Jesse left the room and told me to try and get more rest, as tomorrow Doctor Jessen would be reviewing my chart, taking blood tests and putting me through an x-ray. I placed my hand over the bandage that was covering the hole in my stomach. Images once more flashed through my head, I flashed backed into the dark room I was chained to a table and there was still a distant crying in the background. This time I called out “who’s there?” but no one replied.

I then heard something get knocked off and it made a loud bang on the floor. I once again called out to who was there. But again no one replied. I felt a hand touch my stomach, the nail was lightly going down my t-shirt then their fingers slipped up my top and began dragging it up, until ,my top was just covering my bra. His fingers then continued down until their hands were resting on stomach.

I was then blinded by a torch light that was being shinned in my face. I looked around and my breathing pace increased. I saw work benches everywhere with shelves of hammers, hand saws and wrenches then hanging up where massive knives that where covered in dried blood. I then turned and went to look at my attacker. I would guess he was male by the height and build, his face was covered by a mask. “why are you doing this” I screamed but there was no replied. He moved his finger to his mouth indicating for me to shhh, but I continued screaming, begging him to let me go. He shook his head and used his finger to show that I had been naughty.

He grabbed a large knife from the table. Its edge was serrated; he ran the tip of his finger down the knife causing it to bleed. He then put his finger in his mouth and gave a satisfied expression. Then with his bloody finger he drew a cross onto my stomach and then made lines across my arms. He lifted the knife and drew it down piercing my…….

My trance ended, and I came to with a shock. My room was filled with doctors and nurses who had heard me screaming. Jesse pushed his way through the crowd and told everyone I was fine and they were all told to leave immediately. Once everyone had cleared the room Jesse closed over the curtains, switched on the bed side lamp and handed me a piece of paper and a pen, telling me to write down what I saw again.

I wrote down everything I could remember, from the cold dark stench of the room to the man with razor sharp knives. Jesse looked over the notes, his face was pale and he started to look worried.  He tried to pass it off as just a bad dream but it was too familiar too just be a nightmare.  I could feel everything, every movement, every breathe and the terror that she felt.  My head was pounding and my stomach ached so Jesse gave me some mild anesthetic to soothe the pain, I ended up dozing off and not awakening to early morning, when Doctor Jessen made an appearance.
