Evangeline

I twirled around, my emerald evening gown soaring about my legs.
“You look amazing,” It was there, in the room with me.
“Thank You,” I draped a forest green shawl over my shoulders, preparing to meet my guests down stairs.
“I need you tonight, Evangeline,” My stomach lurched. Last time he needed me I killed a man. But the man was bad. He was a horrible horrible man. He had killed people, or ordered them to be killed. Of course I was never caught, The Voice told me exactly how to do it without being found. I was never suspected.
“Do you remember Helen Turner?” It couldn’t, it just couldn’t ask me to… not Mrs. Turner.
          “Yes,”
“Why of course you do, she ran the orphanage you lived in,” as if I could I forget. She always seemed to care about me, always. She seemed to care about all of us. All fifty three of us. Tonight was supposed to be about her, it was my annual orphanage banquette.
“For now I just need you to go talk to her, but remember to keep our secret with you in your purse, you will need it tonight,” Our secret. I walked over to my jewelry box, took the key to it out from my purse, inserted it into the box, opened the bottom drawer, and picked up the item inside it. I fingered the barrel, stroked the handle, and even played with the trigger.
“Are you… you’re not going to… what do you need me to do tonight?”
“You aren’t killing Helen Turner, don’t worry,” I let out a sigh, still wondering who, what I was doing tonight,”
“A crime will be committed tonight, not by you, though. I need you to frame Helen Turner,”
          “Oh”
          “Did you get my package?”
          “It was from you?”
“Of course” I had put it in my closet. I reached for it off the top shelf of the rack. It was one of the most glorious pieces I’d ever seen. A necklace of perfectly cut diamonds stacked on top of eachother. I put it on. It held my throat tightly, but in the mirror it was like a glittering lining of my throat.
          “Thank you,”
“Now go downstairs and meet your guests,” I felt him leave me. I thought about the night ahead of me. I layed down on my bed, and cryed.

Just one... Then the story starts!

It's very Big Brother like, as in 1984, is that right? I think so. Very good!
One question - why is it 'The Vioce', not 'The Voice'?
:)

The Rogue Hat Company
