It was a rainy evening. Being the last day of the week, David had planned to attend a friend's party after his office. David and Linda were a cute couple. David always spent his weekend with his wife and Linda has had no compromises on it, nor any complains on David.
The couple had planned to look out for the museum that came just few weeks back as their weekend plan. Linda was terribly bored of watching the idiot box. She had no plans of waiting for David since he had his own keys. She laid down over the cosy bed flipping through the pages of the magazine, in which she found something good in the page 37 of the magazine. As she was reading the article, it was getting dark outside, the electricity was put off and the thunder roared. Suddenly there was this sound of a door being banged. She went to see what was that with the torch that was at the bedside. She saw some blood stains on the wall and on the way to the bathroom. As she neared the bathroom and lifted her head to open the door while she screamed her life out. There was a dead body. A dead body with the hands nailed on the door and tongue out and throat cut. Blood was spilling all over the place while Linda heard someone panting for breath. The sound seemed to come from the inside of the bathroom. She made up the courage to open door and when she saw, there was small girl. She went near the girl and asked her who she was. The girl stared at her and shouted, "yathra". Whatever Linda asked, the girl said the same word. When Linda tried to touch that girl, there was someone at her back choking her badly while she suddenly saw her husband with bed coffee as she woke up with fear with the same magazine in her hand and the page number was 37.
David kissed Linda on her forehead and wished her a good morning. Linda took a deep breath while she realised that it was a bad dream. She did not tell him anything about the dream. They just started discussing about their weekend plan.
As planned the couple went to the museum where Linda was shocked to hear something from the guide there as they moved to see an engraved picture of a girl on a rock.He spelled some word. And the word was "yathra". Linda was reminded of her dream last night. The guide said that yathra was a little girl who was called the curse of a family that killed her. Her death was so pathetic and horrific enough to be remembered for people still believed that her ghost exist. They always say that she is the very symptom of one's end. She has no motive. No one knows why she kills people. They neither know what would suffice her anger. It may be you today or even me tomorrow. Who knows?...
Linda was at the state of fear. David could see that something was wrong but didn't know what was the matter. He just took her home without any queries while she had so many thoughts running in her mind which she never shared with David. She thought he may fear. Fear her death, a life without her, his loneliness. She said nothing.
The couple reached home and David let Linda take a nap, so that she feels better and he too laid down near her. The next day when David's mother had come to meet them, she found that the door was open and the couple lay dead on the bed with no blood stains, no weapons nearby, nothing. There was just one word written on the wall with blood and it was "yathra". No one knew what happened, why they were killed and how they were killed. Even the blood was not found to match with anyone who can possibly be related to the murder and with no evidences and traces, the game still continued....
