CHAPTER 45
The car pulled outside at the edge of Scafell got out of the car and noticed they weren't alone and saw the shadow of the bike in the moonlight. Armando hoped Xavier and Tierra wouldn't notice. As Tierra and Xavier got of the car, Armando distracted their attention to avoid them spotting the bike. Armando turned his son who by now was studying the building with intense curiosity. Armando turned to his son "You had that same look the first time l gave you a chemistry set for your birthday. Xavier turned to look at his father and smiled "Something like that". Tierra held back knowing that she was just a watcher in this situation but she was deeply fascinated about the building before her. Armando got out a remote control from his breast pocket and pressed on a green button, which opened the main door of the building.
Ava went out first followed by Solomon and walked into Armando's lab. Ava pulled out a piece of paper showing a blueprint of the lab. Ava turned to Solomon 'This is where you earn your money". Solomon knew he what was doing and didn't need to be lectured- This was what he lived he thought as both primed their weapons and took up positions behind two supporting columns.
Behind a large pillar at the end of the lab. Ava and Solomon watched their targets enter the lab and pressed their eyes to their targeting scopes getting ready to take aim. Solomon had to calm himself as the hunt was reaching its penultimate conclusion. Ava turned to look at a door dose to the lab and noticed Ethan walking in and saw his henchmen ready to do his bidding and stopped to watch what was going on.
They walked in. Xavier studied the foyer of the building admiring the marble flooring and oak panelled walls. Xavier also noticed the dim glow of a Computer screen in the distance and reckoned it was the manager's Office. All three walked towards the lift. Armando pressed the same green button on his black box. The lift descended startling Tierra and made her instinctively grab for Xavier. Xavier turned to Tierra "Jumpy aren't we" he smiled. Tierra responded "Its just a jolt from the lift". The floor continued descending Armando tapped his shoe
Xavier and Tierra walked into the lab and were instantly awe struck by the white cylindrical
object in front of them spanning more than 50 ft high by 20 ft wide. Armando turned to his son "this is the Casimir Reactor". Xavier walked towards reaching his hand and stroked the surface and realised it wasn't metallic at all. This surprised Xavier who had assumed that all reactors were made of metal. Xavier walked around the reactor muttering, numbers, "this isn't possible, this can't be real". Tierra held back somehow the reactor made her feel uneasy and it reminded her of her father who had died for this. Tierra stood frozen ambivalent, unsure of how to react or what to say.
Armando walked to his son who by now had walked over to the Perspex window he had see in Liverpool. Armando placed his hand on his sons shoulder. As they peered inside Xavier saw nothing but the other side of the reactor. Armando moved to the side of the reactor turning it on. Greens, yellows and orange surfaced suspended by magnets at the centre of the reactor. Xavier stood still. Armando spoke "This is why l left you. The reactor is made of fusion of glass and plastic. The reactions is started by two metal plates suspended by magnet. By now the reactor had to come alive the sound of magnets overhead whining. Xavier saw the reactor come alive but could not believe it.
Armando turned on a Computer terminal and asked Xavier to join him, as there is something that would interest him. Xavier looks at the Computer screen as numbers and figures flash up. Numbers that didn't make sense, numbers that only were theoretical but they were here. Numbers that make the Casimir Reaction possible. Xavier turned his eyes to the left of the Computer screen noticing blue prints for the Casimir Reaction its size, construction and power output. The power output shocked Xavier "This, this can't be right he said " as he step back trying to compose himself. Armando looked surprised "What's wrong son". Xavier turned to his father 'These numbers are saying that the reactor can produce nearly a half a gigawatt of power. That's enough for a lot of houses in a tot of countries". Tierra chipped in "What are you talking about". Armando tried to explain "Power is measured in watts as those numbers go up you get megawatt for 1 million watts of power, gigawatt for a billion watts and a terawatt is a trillion watts. In simple terms the more power available the more you can power". Xavier picked up the plans as his scientific mind began to work and his training and all his knowledge confirmed what his father had discovered and it was huge". Tierra looked oblivious to what was going on but knew that her own father had mentioned to her about the reactor but had no idea of its importance. Xavier walked to the reactor as his father began to speak with an almost religious fervour "Imagine no more wars, no more conflict. Energy for all. But we need your research into the Hoson Biggs particle to make it work you know its size, energy Output and everything to make it work. We need your knowledge to make this work. We know how to turn it on and do what you have seen but we need your knowledge". Xavier looked at his father and knew that this is what he had been hiding and kicked himself for not knowing what it was sooner Xavier studied his fathers face unsure of whether to let him have the knowledge he possessed but he knew there was more at stake than any parental issues "Okay. l will give numbers you for the formula. , Energy - 67 Joules, Density 2.1. Armando smiled and typed in a series of mathematical equations to take in the new data. The reactor emerged reacting with new sounds and noises. Before was a light show now was a light show and the full orchestra. The Casimir Reactor was working.
