The Shadow People

Poem By: CanadianIdiot
Thrillers

A poem I came up with about the supposed "shadow people". I have been reading a lot of Poe lately and decided to make this. View table of contents...

"The Shadow People"

As I walk into rooms, I never leave a light off,

For I fear that they will come back,

Catching me from behind,

And spring their attack!

Had I known that I would be a victim of them,

I would have taken more caution on that late November night,

I was resting in my chair, sleeping peacefully,

Until I woke to a horrifying fight!

Around my neck lay a shadow, spread out around it,

It tightened its grip around my neck, leaving me breathless!

I quickly jumped up, looking back towards the chair in fear,

What had just happened had left me speachless!

The moment after that, the room darkened and shadows seemed to crawl in.

My heart beat fasters and faster, not knowing what was going on,

But I did think this was some satanic menace,

The dark powers of the devil ran amuk, realeasing dark souls from beyond!

My mind was not mistaken, I am sure of it!

It was more real than life itself!

The shadows took form as if they were humans,

They came from the roof, the floor, and even my book shelf!

There were, thirty or fourty strong,

They crawled and walked towards me, each blank and shapeless,

They cornered me up, and kept me in fear,

And at the time, it all felt hopeless.

I slid down against the wall, submitting to the beasts,

When suddenly my back hit the lits, and everything ceased!

No creatures stood before me, not a single one,

It was either that, or I had desceased.

I was alive, and sure of it,

But now do I know,

That I never leave the lights off in a room,

Or else they'll never go.

They are there, the Shadow People,

Always waiting, always watching, always listening.

If you listen close you you can hear them talk,

Sometimes you can even hear them bickering!

They are real, I am sure of it,

Demon or devil or being from the unknown,

But one thing is certain,

Always keep the lights on when you're alone...

Thanks a bunch! The satanic thoughts were just there to help describe how evil and dark everything was. It helped build the mood.

That was definitely eerie and creepy...and I loved it. Keep it up!

Thanks for checking this out. Heh, ever since I wrote this, I think I've been seeing Shadow People every now and then. XD

Wow. this is great. Beautifully dark and handsome in narrative. A tight rope walking as I read this, a good read to save and read over and over.
