Vibrant smile and tinted cheeks
Laughter like a baby sheep
Adorable, the way she eats
The woman that I loved.

Met her on a crowded beach
"I know you," she said to me
Invited me to take a seat
The woman that I loved,

Before I knew it, on one knee
I asked Marie to marry me
I gave my all for her to keep
The woman that I loved!

Honeymoon, ever so sweet
I left the room to grab a treat
Returned to find an empty suite
The woman that I loved?

Sat on the bed, feeling beat
A note was pinned down to the sheet
"I'm leaving you for Edward Cree"
The woman that I loved...

I couldn't stand the pain, you see
Knocked me right off of my feet
I never knew that I would be
Left by the woman that I loved!

Long I searched to finally meet
Edward, of the family Cree
Did I over-react? Maybe!
The man that I'd become...

He said "let me explain, you see..."
Ending with a sorry plea
Marie, too, begged that I would leave
The woman that I loved.

So, leave I did; after my deed
I had to let my demons free
I did it all so I could be

With the woman that I loved.
