Jeff Chamberlain slowly opened his eyes, blinking several times, trying to focus. His head ached, and he felt nauseous, as he looked around him.
Where the hell am I…what happened? He struggled to clear his mind. Think man…what’s the last thing you remember? Ok, I was leaving the office; I remember heading for my car…that was the last thing he could remember.
The room was dim; he could barely make out pipes running along the high ceiling above his head. He could hear nothing that would give him a clue as to where he was. Then, there was a muffled noise; a train passing some distance away maybe, he couldn’t be sure.
“Hello, is anyone there? I need help please! I’ve been kidnapped, I need help!” Jeff shouted, but it seemed he was completely alone. He felt weak and dizzy. He laid his aching head back and everything went dark.
The next time Jeff opened his eyes, he had no sense of how long he’d been unconscious, as his eyes adjusted to the darkened room, he could make out four walls. There was a musky smell, like machine oil mixed with dank stale air. He thought maybe it was a warehouse or an old factory. Then, he caught the scent of a woman’s perfume. I’ve smelled that scent before; that sweet floral scent…Maggie!
