Tim was a kind hearted man and a daydreamer. His family and friends took his feelings lightly and ignored them like a habit or hobby. Nobody ever taunted or interrupted him about his dream descriptions because he would never hurt anybody. In fact, they would encourage him to dream more and tell him that one day his dreams might actually come true. He always wished all his wishes came true. His number one wish was that all his dreams come true but not through a magic lamp, genie or any other supernatural power.

One day he received a letter in his mail stating that all of his next 30 dreams that he remembers the next morning will come true whether good or bad. It had instructions that if he does not fulfill his dreams himself, he will die the very next day. He thought that was some kind of a joke either from his family members or friends and disregarded the letter. He did not even bother looking at the senders address and kept the letter in a safe place for future reference. He also decided not to tell anybody about the letter thinking everybody will make fun of him like they already do.

That same night he had a dream of attending a party in a town far from his hometown. He remembers the dream in the morning but completely forgets about the letter and decides not to go to the party. He instead decides to go to a movie with his friends. On the way to the movie theater he bumps into a drunken man who stabs him with a knife. His friends take him to the hospital covered in blood. The doctors somehow save him but warn to be careful.

He still does not realize that the letter has something to do with last night's incident. He takes it lightly and ignores the letter again. The next dream he remembers reminds him to redecorate his house but since he has been on bed rest, he ignores it as well. He gets better and decides to go on long drive all by himself. He starts having chest pains while driving. He loses control and hits a light poll. The car is totaled and he is in critical condition. Once again he is in the hospital counting his blessings.  Now he realizes that the letter is not a joke but his dream that has come true as nightmare.

He gets better again and decides to follow the instructions mentioned in the letter. One of the instructions is that he is allowed to only ignore two dreams that he can fulfill. Ignoring third one can cause imminent death. He has now already ignored two and has no more lifelines left. He prays that the next dream he remembers is positive and achievable. Unfortunately that does not happen. He is worried so much that positive thought does not cross his mind and he keeps on thinking negative. He thinks so negative that he feels like hanging himself. He sleeps with those thoughts and wakes up remember only one thing - Hanging him.
