Where to stay in Torquay is all down to budget and the type of holiday you wish to have. There are so many different hotels in Torquay to choose from with different areas to visit.
Just by doing a search online it is quickly visible that there are a lot of hotels in Torquay. The competition is quite unbelievable and can make choosing a hotel extremely time consuming and harder than it should be. There is a wide choice of accommodation ranging from large chain budget hotels to elegant boutique style small hotels. Despite the emergence of large chain hotels in Torquay a great aspect of Torquay is that it retains the small bed & breakfasts, the guest houses and small hotels that have made the resort such a special place to visit and provide the personal service that can sometimes be missing when hospitality is carried out on a massive scale.

Torquay hotels are located in general in clusters surrounding the bay. Some areas are more famous for being the place to stay if you wish to visit Torquay for a night out, these are generally establishment on and around the Belgrave Road area. This does not mean all of the hotels / guest houses / B&B's solely offer this kind of stay. Moving along the harbour and near the town you can find yourself away from it all in an area of Torquay called Meadfoot. In Meadfoot you find a small batch of luxury small hotels and guest houses just a short walk from the beautiful blue flag beach that is Meadfoot Beach.

Other accommodation options for Torbay are in Paignton and in Brixham. Torquay, Paignton and Brixham form Torbay and each have their own characteristics. Torquay is known as the Queen of The Englsih Riviera where Paignotn is targeted more at familes on more budget breaks. Brixham retains a lot of its character as an active fishing port and offers only a small amount of accommodation, mainly in the form of holiday apartments.

The great thing about Torquay as a holiday destination is that you can very much have the holiday you wish to have. If you want some beautiful scenery, gorgeous beaches and just somewhere to relax and recover from the stresses of everyday life this is possible in Torquay. Otherwise if you fancy something a little more active there are some great activities available in Torquay with almost all sports available whether you are into Surfing, Windsurfing, Golf, Scuba Diving, Running, Fitness, Sailing, Tennis....the list is endless. Torquay's restaurants and bars and clubs are well known in the UK. The standard is extremely high in Torquay and is only improving. There are some wonderful Michelin Star restaurants as well as some great small family run restaurants that really showcase the local fayre. Torquay has thankfully slowly got rid of a lot of the stag and hen parties that swamped the resort 5/6 years ago which has made going out in the evenings and especially at the weekends a much more pleasurable experience. There is still a lively night out to be enjoyed if this is what you are seeking from your Torquay Holiday with some great bars / clubs dotted around the harbour.
