La Closerie des Lilas in Paris´s Montparnasse sector is a contemporary reminder of Paris´s artist history.  Most notable of the cafes long list of writers and artists is Earnest Hemingway.  The staff of the restaurant still remembers Hemingway sitting and writing in the days when he lived around the corner and was ducking the growing contingent of others making up the Paris night life.  This out of the way spot is still an inspiration and draws Hemingway’s faithful who are drawn to Paris with the intent on seeing it through the American writers eyes.

Deux Magots is another of the cafes that has the notoriety for famous clients.  Pablo Picasso, Jean Paul Sartre, and Albert Camus were frequent patrons alongside Josephine Baker and Roman Polanski.  The restaurant has been first hand to changes in Literature, art, philosophy and politics.  True to its history the menu still offers cafe sandwiches, omelets, and assortments of meats and cheeses to munch on while contemplating the role Deax Magots has played in the world of liberal arts.  The cafe awards the Deax Magots Award for literature to one recipient every year and doesn´t back away from its illustrious past.

The Montparnasse metro station is the gateway to Paris´s bohemian and intellectual center.  Montparnasse Hotels in the area worth checking into include the Hotel Concorde Montparnasse and Timhotel Montparnasse.
