Reflection on the dramatic sunsets that occur in the north west of Australia

the world
was round.

Three dimensional.

Searing light
blazed
from the sky
illuminating
every facet
every nook
every crevice
in stark relief.

Slowly though,
the world flattens as the sun goes down,
(or is it really that
we spin around
leaving it behind?
twirling away into space,
leaving it to
other surrounds?)

Those rays
in our surround,
loose energy,
unable to dissect,
absorbed
and drawn away
into the night.

Crevices
nooks
crannies
colours
and
shapes.

all merge

into

(stark )

silhouettes.
