I hope I'm making you proud of me. I hope the heartache will ease for you in time, because it's time for me to spread my wings, and start my career journey. I'm going to make you proud.
We talked about the Army, to the point where I applied and had an interview setup. But I couldn't go through with it, I wasn't ready to leave you for so long, and be apart of something so important. I hope you aren't disappointed in me. I know you were in the Navy, and had hoped I would follow in your military footprints. I'm sorry I couldn't commit to that, but don't worry. I'm going to make you proud.
T minus two months, until I move 1800km away from you. Until I start university, and spend the next four years working insanely hard. Late nights, early mornings, lack of sleep, lack of anything except university. But I know when I'm done and qualified, you'll be proud of me. Yes, I'm doing this uni course for me, but I want to make you proud as well. I've started packing, books, craft supplies, clothes and memories. Remember how you would always pretend that Colliver my toy dog would bop along to your singing, and answer you? I'll miss that. I'll never be too old for that Dad. When I make you proud, I hope Colliver will bop along and agree with me.
I haven't been accepted yet, but gosh I'm crossing my fingers and toes, arms and legs that I'll make it in. I've done my best, to have experience and all the tests done. So I can get into Uni, and make you proud dad.
I love you dad, one day I'm going to make you proud.
