You Always Have A Smile
By: Austin Robert
In a mind of darkness I sit alone, with a knife to my chest. The tea kettle whistles, the volcano begins to build up its heat and the fire begins to spark.
I’m falling apart. My heart has broken into a million pieces, and my vital signs are gone. Ice has enclosed my heart and it has become so cold.
Everything seems like a raging sea, the waves violently hit the beach. I look outside in the rainstorm and saw something that I least expected to see.
It was a smile, it beautiful smile. Could anyone else see it? I don’t think so, maybe they did. If anybody could see it I think the world would be a better place.
Now maybe you think this is another fairytale type of thing? Well it’s not. It’s about someone that is so close to me. And to be honest this friendship was the last thing I expected, especially since everybody seems to be against it.
She always has a smile to share. When I’m sad she’s always there with a smile. When I constantly fight her with words and comebacks she always has a smile for me. When I’m angry at someone and take it out on her, she comes up smiling. When I’m depressed she’s right there with a smile.
I can’t remember a time when she wasn’t with me. I can’t remember a time where she would ever say “Go and die” or “You’re worthless”. I can’t remember a time when she wasn’t there to save me from the blade. I can’t remember a time when she wasn’t there to save me from myself.
You never really know who your real friends are until you need them. If she would read this I can honestly say she might not know I‘m talking about her.
I was in the middle of a raging sea, not knowing who I could trust or go to, until I saw her there. I swam over to her and grabbed her hand. I was drowning and she kept me up.
And even though I may confuse her sometimes with what I’m dealing with, she still smiles at me. I guess that’s why I love her so much. Those types of friends are so rare and I got one of them. Whether she knows it or not, she’s my best friend. Even though I don’t get to see her as much as I would like to, she’s still with me all the time.
She has her moments though; she thinks orange aliens are cute. But that doesn’t matter, she’s a person and a friend I wouldn’t trade away for anything else in the world (Literally).
I love you Ally! <3
