To this girl it was no surprise
The smile never reached her eyes
Though her mouth would twitch and crinkle
Her sad eyes would show no twinkle
She felt anger and frustration
Why could she not feel elation
It seemed she could only feel pain
And what a struggle to stay sane
Her eyes grew dark, her skin pale
Her thinning body grew frail
Depression was taking its toll
And thought by thought she lost control
Her weakened mind saw no escape
For she was just in such bad shape
With her last bit of pride and strife
She calmly found and grabbed her knife
Oh the difference cutting would make
But she had made a huge mistake
One cut to deep she knew meant death
Her eyes closed with her final breath
