Beauty From Within

Poetry By: elizabethrose
True confessions

I had a friend speak to me and a few others about how big she was and how she wished she was skinnier. "Am I fat?" she would ask. The others would say of course not but as I sat there thinking I couldn't help but say,"I will not dare lie to your face when we both know you are overweight. But my God, does that not mean you are beautiful? Does that mean your heart isn't as big as everyone else's? I think not."

Looking for pity, looking for love
You are not the brightest dove
Here we see are your flaws
Silence I say! Take a pause!
You put yourself down
you give yourself a frown
But let me give you a word
Not pretty you say? Absurd!
Within you're beautiful and sweet
Listen to me, take a seat!
The outside may not be what you desire
But I swear you're gorgeous! I'm not a liar!
