The Light Within You

Poetry By: elizabethrose
True confessions

As a teenager, or really at any age, people will tear you down. They will call you names and tell you, you are not worth it. But I say no. That is not what you are meant for.

Love lost because they all

Remember your petty fall.

You once were loved

But now you are kept shoved,

Shoved out the door into the blackness

Your inner being feeling boneless.

Boneless I say, no meat nor skin

All emotion drained up to your chin.

The light within you,

Has dimmed and is past overdue.

Feeling confused and unwhole

Life has left your poor soul.

But I'm still standing here

No, I didn't disappear.

Don't let yourself drown

For it's time for the final countdown.

This is the time when life is at a peak

I believe in you for you are unique.

The light within you,

Let there be a breakthrough.

When you are thrown to the ground

Stand up and be crowned.

Crowned with beauty and purpose

Become bigger and fearless.

Let go of the words they say

For they will be the ones to fall astray.

Prove them wrong

Show them you are headstrong.

The light within you,

Let it grow brighter and true.
