AT CHANCELLOR COLLEGE

Poetry By: pakla
True confessions

THIS IS A NAKED FACT AND REALITY OF WHAT I SAW AT CHANCELLOR COLLEGE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF MALAWI IN ZOMBA. YOU MAY NOT LIKE THE HARDCORE REALITY OF OUR POST-COLONIAL COLLEGE EDUCATION THOUGH, AND JUSTIFIABLY SO. THE BORN-FREE,WITH A WESTERN WASTEN MIND; AND AN ORIENTATION TOWARD SOMETHING SPECTACULAR. KNOWN AS "CIVILISATION" FALSELY SO CALLED.

AT CHANCO (Inverted/Downward Progress)
I met men without a soul
Human feelings and dignity sacrificed
Emotions overruling their judgment
Lost through knowledge and intelligence
I saw very naked naked bodies
At twilight and midnight through and through
Without a shame like nude statues
Consciences geared and seared in rebellion
I experienced freedom without restraint
Giving licence to lawlessness without limit
Hypnotised minds in excess of excitement
Laughingly hurtling to death and debauchery
I learnt the vanity of human wisdom
Without God or a divinity in their soul
Taxing the mind, calculating, philosophising, reasoning
And publishing misleading and degrading writings
And i observed yet still
The hunger and the thirst for success and progress
Igniting a ferocious crave for controversy
Contending for yonder place inverted progress
It is but grace that a Christian succeeds
A system acknowledging no Divinity
Cogitating daily on finite human achievement
Whose rebellious inventions stem from devils
