The Tortured Tale of Broccoli

True confessions

A beloved vegetable pines from within.

I am just a broccoli

A sad and lonely soul.

Life is just a moccoli

That taunts me from this bowl.

The celery can promenade,

Asparagus cannot.

The Brussels sprouts can twist and shout

The cabbages fox trot.

The carrots all can cantor

The garlics are less fun

They insist on banter

And make cry the sweet onion

The wise old yam keeps time

While the sweet peas play their pods

The gingerroot looks mighty cute

She winks at me, and nods.

This yellow bowl, it keeps me safe

Within it's walls I cower.

But…

Wouldn't it be swell

To bud out of my shell

And become a cauliflower?
