Missing Sadness

sadness is a fickle inspiration.

I want to live through a tragedy

Have a reason to spill my guts.

Slit my wrists

above a page,

and let my insides tell a story

my fingers haven't heard.

I've known sadness,

but it's been too long.

The sorrow has bled from my bones

dripped from my lips

my hands

in large unceasing waves.

They consume my being

swallow my soul,

But the ugly longing has been scooped from my marrow

I am left content

content, and uninspired

I miss the sadness

the art it once produced.
