A little girl stands on the edge of a darkening abyss. Tears fall down her cheeks, The ever
growing feeling of hate and terror fill her soul. A world she once knew is gone!
The light of the evening sunset begins to fade, she stares into the ground waiting and
waiting for something to happen. Unkown blurs of faces crowd around her, embracing
her with never ending hugs of sorrow and remorse, cluatrophobia growing inside of her.
She gasps for air, her lungs are refusing her the thing she needs to live. . . .thoughts growing
stronger in her head. Her scream startles everyone around her the crowd begins to back off,
The opening she see's leads to the one person she needs but no longer has! Stumbling over
on the cold december ground, she grows weary, exhuastion and fear creeping over her. Slowly
she reaches her hand over the pile of dirt in front of her, The smell of freshly dug earth
fills her nose and her mind suffocating her every thought, she places her hand gently on
the grave, lowers her head and begins to cry.
So still. . . .Sleeping. . . .Not Breathing. . . .Dead. . . .Can't Be!! She screams with anger
and hurt "How could this happen?" She stands and begins to walk, faces turn in her direction,
she begins to jog, someone comes after her. Without stopping or thinking she begins to run faster
and faster, away from the people, away from the commotion, away from the graveyard and away
from her brother. Her brother who now lies still and cold six feet beneath the ground.
Breath. . . .Dont Think. . . .Breath. . . .Dont think. . . .her legs are weak she has no more
energy or strenth to try and escape. Her legs go rubber she gives in to defeat and falls to the ground.
Running towards her is her older cousin, he falls down on his knees next to her pulls her into his arms and
cradles her she struggles to get away but gives up just as quickly, with no words of encouragement he carries
her back to the one place she never wants to see again.
"why. . .why him. . .i need him. ." her words come out in a faint whisper.
"I. . . .I dont know. . " his voice trails off. . . The little girl is silent as they walk into the last light of day.
