In the end he never knew if she was happy. He tried so hard to push her out from his thoughts but it just wouldn't budge. She didn't control his entire day, but in some points the smallest thing would bring back a memory of when he believed he was happy. A simple drink they used to share to a show on TV she loved to watch.
It's those small memories that caused him pain. Unanswered questions, what ifs, he just didn't understand, Perhaps he never will.
So where does our story begin? Let's go back to April where the first thought began.
From just one heart she showed, he pondered briefly then said hello. As they spoke to each other, he found himself smiling. And when they met he let go of all the pain he ever endured, as if he had never been hurt before. One evening turned into one night, maybe one the best he ever lived.
When he woke up, his first sight was bliss as she stared back into his eyes in. such happiness could only have existed in Disney films.
Days, months past. He found himself giving up everything for her, everything he cared about, he just wanted to be happy. Friends became distant, some friends left and never returned. But he didn't care because he had her. A drug that would drown out all his problems for hours on end.
And then it all fell apart, she left him. A hollow shell of what he used to be. She stole his heart, took everything he gave to her but she never returned it.
His biggest joy was his biggest sadness, and he wonders if she'll ever come back, if she'll ever be ready.
But until then…
He looks out the window in case she's outside
Doesn't sleep because she might just call again
Lays on one side of a double bed because half still belongs to her
And he can't give his heart to someone else, because she never gave it back
He just hopes she's happy even though he'll never feel it again
