I started writing poetry when I was 13. Since then I have compiled a fairly large collection of my writing which I have titled as a whole..."My Guts on Paper". I think my work is good, it is real [98% of it at least] and it has great meaning - TO ME! I have had many people read my stuff and tell me, "Why don't you get it published?" They make it sound so easy...."Just send it to a publisher so you can have a book". If it was only that simple. I have 1 short story, a children's book in the making, and about 100 poems. About 10 years ago I actually got as far as completing query letters...I still have them, lol. I don't think I'm afraid of rejection, I have done research and poetry is amongst the most difficult to get published and I am no Browning or Poe. My writing has served as more of a release or therapy for me, and most of my work is about the darkest moments in my life....I have a difficult time imagining people referencing my name and saying, "Oh, I love her book". Lately, for some reason, I have had the urge to challenge that thought process and see if I could actually have even 1 thing I have written published. Just recently I have started researching what necessary steps to take in an attempt to begin the publishing process which landed me on Booksie.com. I decided this might be a good starting point....get some exposure and see if I get any feedback, and if I do get feedback I might get some of the answers I have been looking for in regards to my writing. If you read this, and any of my work I have posted, I hope you enjoy it. Also, I welcome feedback, no matter how brutal it might be, I lok forward to having my work critiqued.
