The sound of my first shot had startled the two other men that were holding position just feet away from where the lifeless body of their friend laid on the street. They have not figured out our location yet, therefore another shot would be risky, too risky. As my roommate and I watched these soldiers drag their friends body into the adjacent building, realization finally began to sink in. I had just killed another human, his life was gone, he would never see his family again. Did he have a family? All of these thoughts were racing through my mind, until the noise of my roommate snoring had startled me from my train of thought. It was now dark out, whether it was 5:00pm or 12:00am, I did not know. All I knew was that daylight could not come fast enough.

January 1, 2013 - Shivering once again I awoke in the middle of the night, the moon was full, it's glow lit up the entire city almost as if it were mid-morning. My roommate was still asleep, I began to wonder how much longer he would be able to withstand the pressure of just trying to survive. My eyelids slowly started shutting on there own and I could feel my body drifting back into a sleep induced coma, there was no sense in trying to fight it. I needed sleep desperately and who knows when this opportunity would present itself again.

The sunlight I had been waiting for the previous night greeted me this morning as it shined across my face. It was still cold out, but the warmth of the sun seemed to trick my mind into thinking otherwise. As my eyes began to focus on what was around me, I noticed my roommate was awake and making breakfast. Today wouldn't present as nice of a meal as yesterday did, we split another piece of bread and began to watch for the other two men that had entered the city yesterday.
To my surprise, these men presented themselves as if nothing had happened. They must of experienced the same bitter cold that I had the night before, the blankets wrapped around their bodies were a dead give away, not to mention the fact they were shaking so bad it took all of their remaining strength to lift the cigarettes they were smoking to their mouths.
